NOTE: The Forum Guide here is now outdated. I am leaving this up for discussion, however I now update it here on the wiki instead

Welcome to the guide about the Usage of Buffs and Infected Roles, Made by myself, timkit!

NOTE (SPOILERS): Long walls of text on ahead!

NOTE: If you have not yet read my Usage of Buffs and Buff Sets Guide (Version 1.16) (Updated). It is recommended that you go ahead and read all about it to get the latest information on buffs in mgftw. It is good knowledge to have learnt the usage about the survivor buffs and how they can be used well in appropriate buff sets to make the full utilization of what you could be doing as a player. It is also essential to know which play styles (meaning which buff sets) you would prefer to support your fellow survivors with in order to ensure adequate survival in COOP.

I am writing this guide on mgftw to give you players the best knowledge about the buffs associated with Versus gameplay. This guide would be of good use to Versus Players because it would give them the upper hand in deciding what appropriate infected role along with the right buff set up to be using on whatever map they're playing on. I will be updating this guide at any time when i see needed changes be put into my posts in order to make sure your being given accurate and correct information. I will also be adding calculations to buffs that have numbers involved in them so you guys can see how the buff would work.

    Explanation of this guide

This guide already assumes that you have some basic to good knowledge of the survivor buffs that you already have at your side when playing as the survivors throughout COOP and Versus. It also is a learning guide for when you want to learn the infected buffs for when you go onto the infected side against the survivors in Versus Mode on mgftw, where not a lot of players have experience with the mode itself. This guide explains about some of the different infected roles that you may encounter when selecting buffs and will go in depth to explain what each role is relating to that specific infected, based on the buffs you will see later on. ]

The guide then goes on to list the positives/negatives, explanations and calculations of infected buffs, starting from the general infected buffs list down to the common buffs list in order to ensure non-confusion where it may otherwise happen when your trying to figure out what buffs to equip for what infected. Further down you will see a number of ways in which I do setup infected buffs in roles and what tactics i have based on the buffs in that role in order to show full capability with the uses of it. In order to know what the Infected Buffs are in the first place though, the Infected buffs are separate from the Survivor Buffs in order to differentiate the two of them.

It's quite obvious that the Survivor Buffs are mainly for COOP but can also be Versus while the Infected Buffs are Versus ONLY buffs. There are 9 categories associated with the Infected Buffs with the exception of Common Buffs in which while it ain't one, it has a buff that caters to both COOP and Versus. These categories are General Infected, Smoker, Boomer, Hunter, Spitter, Jockey, Charger, Tank and Common Buffs. There are a further 2 categories in which these buffs are sorted into as sub-categories. They are Unique and |E| Event Buffs. It is important to remember that you remember that the buffs that can be equipped for a special infected in any particular role only apply to that special infected and the general infected buffs associated. There are 6 buff slots for each role for each special infected there is and they do not need to be unlocked via leveling up as they are already unlocked for you, ready to be equipped with buffs. One thing to set apart the Survivor and Infected Buff sets is that the Infected Buffs do not have an unlockable unique buff slot.

Explanation on different types of infected roles
There are 7 different types of infected roles that players can choose from to put buffs on infected... that is if they contain that role that the player chooses. The 7 different types are Assassin, Damage dealer, Slower, Controller, Tanky, Healer and Debuffer. All of these roles have their very own unique use which will be explained below. Just remember that you could be better off with picking buffs with or a similar play style to the role descriptions stated, since they will do much better being equipped in that specific role rather than other ones. Some Special Infected have their own role descriptions which refer to their abilities where as others have the general role description.

    Assassin
The Following Special Infected have this role: Boomer and Hunter
"Assassins can rapidly kill lonely survivors, at the cost of low damage resistance". (general role description)

    Damage dealer
The Following Special Infected have this role: Smoker, Hunter, Spitter, Jockey and Charger
"Damage dealers specialize in burning the health of the survivors". (general role description)

    Slower
The Following Special Infected have this role: Smoker, Boomer, Hunter and Spitter
"Slowers are meant to stop the survivors from moving forward". (general role description)

    Controller
The Following Special Infected have this role: Smoker, Jockey and Charger
"Controllers specialize on rapidly changing the position of a survivor". (general role description)

    Tanky
The Following Special Infected have this role: Charger
"Tanky infected specialize on receiving damage and on protecting teammates". (general role description)

    Healer
The Following Special Infected have this role: Spitter
"Healers are meant to provide support to their teammates". (general role description)

    Debuffer
The Following Special Infected have this role: Jockey
"Debuffers are meant to provide bad statuses to survivors". (general role description)

    General Infected Buffs

    Vampire

    Description:
You heal yourself by x10 the amount of physical damage you deal.
    <Incompatible with Regeneration Skill>

    Positives
+ You gain health equal to 10 times the amount of damage dealt to survivors.
+ The higher the damage the special infected can deal to the survivors, the higher the regeneration.

    Negatives
    - Any damage dealt that is not direct won't heal, therefore less useful on Special Infected such as Spitters.

    Explanation
The Vampire Buff allows the Special Infected to regenerate health equal to 10 times the amount of damage dealt to survivors. You can say that the Hunter and Charger Special Infected greatly benefit from the usage of this buff very well when they are able to deal damage quickly or in high burst amounts. Especially when you use either the Asssassin or Damage dealer role on the Hunter and the Damage dealer role on the Charger. However for other Special Infected such as Spitters, they don't benefit from this buff very much since their spit damage dealt to survivors cannot regenerate it's health since it isn't physical damaging.

    Infected Yell (Not for sale)

    Description:
Upon death, there is a 3% chance of launching survivors near far away due to an extremely loud dying yell.

    Positives
+ You can launch survivors that are nearby far away upon death.
+ Useful Buff to have on Karma Maps when you want to be with survivors near a death zone, especially as a physical user.

    Negatives
    - Low Chance on death for the buff effect to work.

    Explanation
"Woah!" that infected just forced me to go away from its sound! ahh it hurts! The Infected Yell Buff with a low percentage chance of activating allows nearby survivors to be launched far away when you die. Useful buff to have on karma maps when your a physical user due to the chance that the survivor can be launched to their death.

    Biological Hologram

    Description:
After you die as an infected, there is a 15% chance that you will leave a hologram on the floor, simulating a survivor being attacked by a charger or hunter. If survivors fall for this trap, it may buy your team some time.

    Positives
+ When you die as an infected, you can place a hologram on the floor to trick survivors into shooting the simulated attacking infected.
+ Lower level players can easily fall for this trap and it will buy your team a small amount of time to prepare another assault or back up attack.

    Negatives
    - If you die too close to survivors, the Biological Hologram won't be able to trick any survivor nearby.
    - Higher level players don't fall for this trap at all so it won't buy your team any time at all.

    Explanation
When you want to prepare yourself for another assault because you failed as a special infected and died before hand, the Biological Hologram Buff will ensure you get a small amount of time to prepare your next plan of attack by tricking survivors with a simulated infected attack. When lower level players are affected by your buff, it does help to buy your team those precious seconds so they can do what ever they can to the other survivors while the affected player is occupied for a few moments. However if you die too close and the buff effect activates near any survivors, they can't fall for your trick, and nor will any high level players.

    Electricity Wave Protection

    Description:
You will not instantly die if you get caught by an enemy survivor's electricity wave when he/she uses his/her knife. You will be left with 1 HP instead, giving you a chance to escape and let Vampire, Regeneration, Common Farmer or any other buff heal you.

    Positives
+ When your not pinning any survivors, you cannot die to a survivor using an electrified knife to kill you. Useful when acting as a back up special infected.

    Negatives
    - When your pinning any survivor that uses the electrified knife, your still gonna be instantly killed. The effects of the buff only affect those not pinning survivors.

    Explanation
Hope they don't need back up... "hears the sound of a hunter being electrified to death by a survivors electrical knife" *gets hit by electricity* "ahhhh!" wait i ain't dead! The Electricity Wave Protection Buff makes it so that if you aren't pinning a survivor but are within range of an electrical knife attack, you won't instantly die to the effects and will instead be left with 1 HP. A slightly useful buff to have around when acting as a back up special infected to a pinning attack failing to hold its mark on the survivor. It isn't a useful buff when your pinning survivors however, since their electrical knife on you can still instantly kill you. Just as well the buff only affects those not pinning survivors.

    Rushing Massacre

    Description:
Increases damage towards survivors by 0-100% depending on how far they are from the last survivor in the back.
<Bots don't count as survivors in the back>
    <Does not affect tanks>

    Positives
+ Deal increased damage towards survivors depending on how far away they are from the last survivor in the back of the currently alive team.

    Negatives
    - The effects of this buff doesn't affect tanks.

    Explanation
Ahhh, you see a bunch of survivors forward ahead and some survivors in the back, then you go to attack the survivors forward ahead, BAM! more damage is dealt to them thanks to the Rushing Massacre Buff. This damage is further increased if they are lonely survivors from the last survivor in the back. Just remember that you can't gain the benefits as tank, so no quick killing off lonely survivors with this buff.

    Knife Deflection

    Description:
Allows you to counter a survivors knife use. Pressing the <ZOOM> key will put you on counter stance for 0.4 seconds. If the survivor uses his knife during this time, it will be deflected and you will stab him with it causing 150HP damage.
<Usable only when a survivor is trapped by you>
    <Usable once per life>

    Positives
+ You can prevent the instant kill caused by knifes by instead countering them, causing direct damage to the survivor.

    Negatives
    - Usable only when a survivor is trapped by yourself*
    - Usable only once per life so make the use count wisely.
    - You only have a short window frame, so predict very carefully when you know the survivor will attempt to knife you.

    Explanation:
When you want to be able to counter the survivors knife, the Knife Deflection Buff will make it happen. You can put yourself on the counter stance for an extremely short time, and any knifes used during that short window (at the same time practically) will be countered, used up and won't instantly kill you. These countered knifes will instead deal moderate amounts of damage to the survivor. When a survivor isn't trapped, you cannot use the effects of the buff and the effects can only be used one per life. Also you only have a very short amount of time to counter the survivor if he/she decides to knife during that window. Better to be used when the survivor is a lonely survivor since your mind is able to predict better that the survivor will use the knife usually almost immediately after the knife goes off cooldown.

    Assassination Boost

    Description:
Upon killing an enemy survivor, you will be granted with 200% additional attack damage until you die. Effect does not work with TANKS, BOTS or LOW LEVEL PLAYERS and does not accumulate. You must be alive at ALL times to maintain the effect. Returning to ghost mode will end the additional attack damage.

    Positives
+ Extremely Increased attack damage done to survivors upon killing an enemy survivor.
+ One of the best buffs to be combining with other Offensive Buffs for more attack power.
+ Most effective as a buff with the Hunter and Charger, although great with all other special infected.

    Negatives
    - The buff effect wont work with bots, tanks and low level players (players below the level of 50)
    - If you return to ghost mode or die, the additional attack damage effect ends.
    - The buff effect can only be gained once in your life and doesn't accumulate.

    Explanation
Yes! I killed a survivor! Now i even have MORE POWER TO FINISH THEM ALL OFF!!! (Shows a strong surging power within him/herself). The Assassination Boost Buff is considered to be one of the best buffs to be combining with other Offensive Buffs for more attack damage dealt to the survivors. It extremely increases the attack damage you deal to survivors after you have killed one of their own. The Hunter and Charger are the best special infected to favor from this buff the most because the hunter's pounce damage dealt can go a long way up and the charger's damage overall can make him a real threat to any survivor facing him, no matter who they are. All other special infected do tend to have great uses with this increased damage effect if they do kill a survivor, though the Spitter rarely does get this effect and the Boomer has a low number of uses with this buff overall. The buff effect wont work if you kill a bot, or currently a tank or killing a survivor that is a low level player. Additionally dying or returning to ghost mode ends the buff effect on you. It can also only be gained once in the current life as that special infected and it can't be accumulated any further.

    Common Farming

    Description:
Killing a common infected using your claws will instantly heal you by 8%HP.

    Positives
+ On killing a Common Infected, you heal for 8% of your maximum health.
+ A slightly useful Buff to be having when playing as the Spitter in the healing role.
+ Doesn't disable the Regeneration skill when used alone.

    Negatives
    - Less useful Buff when your special infected focuses more on damage dealing or slowing down survivors in most cases.

    Explanation
The Common Farming Buff will let any special infected kill a common infected to heal 8% of their current health. More effective on special infected who have a higher amount of maximum health. It is considered to be a slightly useful buff for the Spitter in the healing role because it will allow her to regenerate her own HP manually as well as automatically while helping out other infected with their own health. The Regeneration skill won't be disabled by this buff alone when the buff is equipped which is one difference as a healing buff compared to the Vampire Buff. The buff is considered to be less useful when your Special Infected uses a role that focuses more on Damage dealing and Slowing down survivors in most cases unless its for coverage.

    Accumulated Rage

    Description:
Adds 3% additional attack damage per second while alive. Accumulated damage resets after you attack a survivor.

    Positives
+ Increasing additional attack damage per second while alive.
+ A really useful Buff to be equipping on the Hunter and Charger when using the Damage dealer roles for both infected.
+ A useful Offensive Buff overall to be combining with other Offensive Buffs for increased damage dealt to survivors.

    Negatives
    - Additional attack damage is reset once you attack a survivor.

    Explanation
This Special Infected is "Growing Angry each second...". The Accumulated Rage Buff adds a small amount of additional attack damage per second while the infected is currently alive. Therefore it's a useful buff to be equipping on the Hunter and Charger Buff sets in the Damage dealer role due to the hunter's pounce being able to deal up to insane amounts of damage as impact damage on any one survivor when successfully pinning them. Furthermore the Charger's impact damage can be quite surprising to survivors who don't see him charging when the Charger has been preparing to charge for quite some time. Overall though, it's a useful Offensive Buff to be combining with other Offensive Buffs to boost the damage dealt to survivors. The only downside to remember is that once you attack a survivor, the increased damage accumulated resets back to square one.

    Saferoom Mayhem

    Description:
Increases attack damage by 150% while being inside saferooms.

    Positives
+ Large increase in damage dealt while being inside saferooms.
+ Useful buff when using Hunters or Chargers under their Assassin and Damage dealer roles respectively.
+ Overall useful buff for the Spitter and Jockey under their Damage dealer roles respectively as well.

    Negatives
    - Less useful buff for the Boomer and Smoker since most saferooms are indoors
    - The effect of the buff is only active in saferooms. Not outside anywhere else.

    Explanation:
Can we just attack early? the survivors are inside saferooms. sure thing the infected say. The Saferoom Mayhem Buff makes that decision worthwhile by largely increasing the damage dealt to survivors while they are still inside the safe zone. A very useful buff to the Hunter and Chargers in their Assassin and Damage dealer roles respectively due to to their high amounts of damage dealt that can easily make a healthy team feel weakened. It is also a useful buff for the Spitter and Jockey because their damage dealt can also have an impact on how healthy the survivors are overall with their buffs in their respective buff sets more quicker. The Smoker and Boomer don't seem to be quick damage dealers and are more likely to be killed off rather than doing decent damage so the buff for them is less useful. Also the effect of the buff can only be active inside saferooms, while outside it they aren't.

    No Rescue for You

    Description:
Increases needed time for the rescue to be ready by 5 seconds. Accumulates with other players.
<Works only with timer based finales>

    Positives
+ Increased time taken for the rescue to arrive, making those precious seconds more worth the time needed to make it happen.
+ Can be accumulated with other infected players

    Negatives
    - The time increase will only work with timer based finales.
+/- Can be beneficial to either the survivors or infected in the Cold Stream and The Parish finales depending on how strong/weak the team is.

    Explanation:
Sorry guys! the rescue chopper is gonna be late... The No Rescue for You Buff ensures it so that survivors have to wait longer for the rescue to arrive. This makes it so that infected have a longer time to gain bounty to ensure that they can overpower the survivors before they win against them which is a good thing because the buff effects can be accumulated. The timer increase will only work with timer based finales. An optional thing to remember is that this time change can either be good or bad for the survivors doing the Cold Stream or The Parish finales.

    Bounty Saving

    Description:
Increases your attack damage for each 4 bounty you have by 1% i.e if you have 20 bounty, your attack damage is increased by 5%.
    <Maximum Bonus: 30%>
    Positives
+ Increased damage dealt to survivors with the more bounty you have as the infected.
+ Useful Buff to have when you use the Bounty Thief Buff on your infected and when having the Pickpocketing Buff on your Jockey.
+ Slightly Useful Buff to have when your not buying infected upgrades in !buy

    Negatives
    - If you spend bounty, your additional attack damage increase is decreased proportionally.

    Explanation:
The Bounty Saving Buff increases your damage dealt to survivors for each small amount of bounty gained as the infected. A useful buff to have around when using the Bounty Thief and the Pickpocketing Buffs on the infected and the Jockey respectively. It is also a slightly useful buff to have when your not really buying anything in !buy. Now if you do spend bounty for whatever reason, your additional attack damage increase is decreased proportionally in relation to the amount of bounty lost.

    Damage Return

    Description:
Randomly (2% chance) returns 20% of the damage taken from survivors. Chance increases (to 5%) if your health is below 10%.
    <Maximum Damage Returned: 12>

    Positives
+ You randomly have a chance to reflect part of the damage dealt to you back at survivors.
+ More useful on infected with higher maximum HP

    Negatives
    - Reflect damage dealt to survivors is quite low
    - Low chance to reflect damage per bullet.

    Explanation:
The Damage Return Buff lets you reflect damage dealt to you back to the survivors with a small chance to do so. While this buff is useful on infected with higher maximum HP, The Reflect damage dealt ain't so much though. Also the chance to reflect per bullet is low.

    Inner Toxins

    Description:
Injects toxins into the survivor's body on each hit with your claws. Once you die, the toxins will detonate and instantly deal 15% of the total damage you did with your claws to the survivor while you were alive.
    <Does not work with tanks>
    <Max damage: 70HP>

    Positives
+ You can melee any survivor and inject toxins into their body, once you die you deal damage equal to a small proportion of the total damage dealt with your claws to each survivor you affected.
+ A slightly useful buff to be using on infected that have higher maximum HP for when their priority is dying to deal buff effects.

    Negatives
    - Less useful buff to be using on infected that don't prioritize their deaths for buff effects.
    - The buff effect won't work with tanks.

    Explanation:
*Slashes a survivor several times* *gets shot by that survivor and dies*, "not that big of a deal, let my toxins do the work!" The Inner Toxins Buff will let you melee any survivor and inject toxins into their body that explode once that infected who affected the survivor dies. The survivor is dealt damage equal to 15% of the total damage that they were dealt by the infected to them. It's a slightly useful buff to be having for infected that have higher maximum HP or want to prioritize dying in order to activate buff effects. However it can be a less useful buff on infected that don't prioritize their death for buff effects. Also the buff effect wont work with tanks.

    Starting Bounty

    Description:
Increases your starting bounty by 7 as infected and 3 as survivor. Bounty is given after first survivor leaves the safe area.

    Positives
+ You gain bounty immediately after leaving the saferoom area.

    Negatives
    - One of the least useful buffs to have considering its usage.

    Explanation:
The Starting Bounty Buff will give you a small amount of bounty to start out with when you leave the saferoom area. However its one of the least useful buffs to have given its usage.

    Nightly Killer

    Description:
Increases damage dealt by 30% on night maps.

    Positives
+ Increased damage dealt in night maps
+ Good Offensive Buff to be combining with other Offensive Buffs to increase damage dealt to survivors.

    Negatives
    - Nothing.

    Explanation:
You are an infected both during the day and at night, however you bring out your strongest powers more so at night time. The Nightly Killer Buff increases the damage you deal to survivors by a small amount on night time maps. It's considered to be a good offensive buff when you combine it with other offensive buff to increase the damage dealt to survivors.

    Mark of Permanent Death

    Description:
Each time you hit a survivor with your claws you will leave a mark on him. After the survivor accumulates 160 of YOUR marks his next dead will be un-defibable (ragdoll dead).
<Marks last through the entire round>

    Positives
+ Inflict a stackable debuff, after an extremely long number of stacks, that survivor is unable to be resurrected from the dead once he dies.
+ Very useful buff to have on the Jockey with his Debuffer role if you equip the attack speed buffs to speed up the process
+ Marks do not expire throughout the current round.

    Negatives
    - You are unable to use this buff with any other infected, making the process of accumulating marks take longer.
    - A lot of marks required to have the overall buff effect activate on the marked survivor.

    Explanation:
The Mark of Permanent Death is a very uncommon Buff that not many people use at all. It inflicts a stackable debuff onto the survivor in which after a long number of stacks that survivor is unable to be resurrected from the dead upon his death. It's a very useful buff to have on the Jockey and his Debuffer role if you equip the attack speed buffs to speed up the process. Also unlike other buffs with the effects on hitting survivors with melee attacks. The marks do not expire once inflicted for the current round onlywhich is also a good thing to know. Remember that you are unable to use this buff with any other infected, causing the process of accumulating marks on your targeted survivor to take longer than normal, which is bad when he dies from other infected. Don't forget that your gonna only be able to have one survivor unable to be resurrected very rarely by the end of the VS round so those marks required are a lot of melee attacks needed.

    Sweep Bile

    Description:
Decreases by 80% the time you spend biled as infected after being hit by a vomit jar.

    Positives
+ You are biled for much less time as infected after being hit by a vomit jar from the survivor who threw it.
+ Mostly useful buff as a Smoker and Jockey in the Controller role for when you need to drag survivors away quickly.

    Negatives
    - Not a useful buff to have when using other special infected or using the Smoker and Jockey in other roles.

    Explanation:
Woah shit! i've been biled on! (only for the bile to disappear quickly) oh wait no i'm not... The Sweep Bile Buff largely decreases the time you spent biled as a special infected after being hit by a Vomit Jar from the survivor who threw it. A useful buff to have as a Smoker and Jockey for when in the Controller role your dragging survivors away very quickly. Not a useful buff to have around on all other special infected and when as the Smoker and Jockey using classes that don't prioritise dragging away quickly.

    Moustachio Bomb

    Description:
5% of the total damage you deal to a survivor under moustachio bless will be applied to the survivor once it ends.

    Positives
+ You are able to deal after effect damage to the survivor who was recently under moustachio bless and has the effect ended for him.

    Negatives
    - Not a useful buff at all due to its low usefulness on versus when compared to other not useful buffs.

    Explanation:
Can't damage the survivor while he's blocking your damage? easy just continue to damage him and 5% of the total damage dealt during that time is applied to him once it ends. It isn't a useful buff at all on any of the infected due to the other not very useful buffs having more uses than this buff.

    Witch Resistance

    Description:
Increases by 1000HP the health of the witches you spawn and reduces the damage they take by 90% for 10 seconds right after they are startled.

    Positives
+ Increased health and extremely high resistance to damage for the first small seconds upon being startled.
+ A useful utility buff to have around on infected whose roles rely on Slowing, Controlling, Tanking, Debuffing or Healing.

    Negatives
    - Less useful buff to have around on infected whose roles rely on Assassin or Damage dealing.

    Explanation:
Want the witches to be more powerful with buffs than without them? equip the Witch Resistance Buff, it increases the health of witches slightly and extremely reduces their damage taken from survivors for 10 seconds while they are startled. It is a really useful utility buff to have around for infected whose roles rely on Slwoing, Controlling, Tanking, Debuffing or Healing. Its usefulness is limited in infected whose roles rely on Assassin or Damage dealing since most of the time those infected will focus more on the offensive.

    |E| Desperation

    Description:
Increases your claw damage by 2HP + 1HP per 10% of missing health.
    <Does not apply to tanks>

    Positives
+ Increased damage that increases with more missing health.
+ A slightly useful buff on higher maximum HP special infected.

    Negatives
    - The buff effect doesn't apply to tanks
    - A less useful Offensive Buff overall thanks to better Offensive Buffs
    - Increased damage dealt is decreased if your regenerating missing health.

    Explanation:
The Desperation Buff will let you deal increasing amounts of damage while you happen to have missing health. It is seen as a slightly useful buff on higher maximum HP special infected. Although while the buff effect doesn't apply to tanks it is a less useful offensive buff due to there being better offensive buffs out there. Also if you are regenerating health in any way, the increased damage that you deal is decreased for less missing health.

    Final Showdown

    Description:
Increases the amount of bounty you receive by 15% on finale maps.

    Positives
+ Increased bounty earned on finale maps.
+ A slightly useful buff to have if your focusing on to get upgrades in !buy or to buy tanks quickly.

    Negatives
    - Less useful buff overall since its usage only applies to finale maps.

    Explanation:
When you are on the finale, the Final Showdown Buff means something, it increases the bounty earn on finale maps. It can be a slightly useful buff where you would want to earn infected upgrades from !buy or to purchase tanks from !buy more quickly. It is a less useful buff overall since its usage only applies to the finale maps of each campaign.

    |E| Fear

    Description:
Temporarily reduces the level of your attached victim by 1 each 15 seconds that pass.

    Positives
+ You reduce the level of your attached victim by a small amount for each small amount of seconds that pass.
+ Temporary level loss applies for the current round

    Negatives
    - Not a useful buff at all since it has a low number of uses in utility wise.

    Explanation:
You want to strike fear into your foes! The Fear Buff temporarily reduces the level of your attached victim by 1 each 15 seconds that pass. making it so that for each upgrade, skill or buff that required a certain level to unlock will no longer become available temporarily for the current round. It isn't a useful buff at all since it has a low number of uses in utility wise.

    Fatigue

    Description:
Each hit with your claw will slow the target survivor by 5% per hit.

    Positives
+ You slow down the survivor per hit with your claw
+ Useful buff to have on the Slower, Controller, Debuffer and Tanky roles of the infected who have them.

    Negatives
    - Not a very useful buff on the Assassin, Damage dealer and Healer roles of the infected who have them.

    Explanation:
The Fatigue Buff will slow down the affected survivor by 5% per claw hit. This is a useful buff to have on infected who have the Slower, Controller, Debuffer or Tanky as current roles. The difference to that is it isn't a useful buff on infected who have the Assassin, Damage dealer and Healer roles since it has less important uses to them.

    Smoker Buffs
    [Damage dealer role]

    Poisonous Spores

    Description:
This buff will make your spores extremely toxic and will damage survivors overtime. Survivors standing near you will be damaged by 3HP/second and may get poisoned if they stand too long. Chance of getting poisoned starts as 0%, and increases by 0.5% on each toxic hit. Poison lasts 8 seconds.
<Dying will refresh the poison chance>

    Positives
+ You damage nearby survivors and have an small increasing chance of poison per hit.
+ Very useful buff to be equipping when your playing as the Smoker in the Damage dealer role.

    Negatives
    - When you die, any poison chances accumulated on survivors is reset to 0%

    Explanation:
Cough, Cough! I think my spores may be more toxic and dangerous to survivors. The Poisonous Spores Buff will make your spores extremely toxic to survivors allowing them to hit nearby survivors for 3HP/s and increase their chances of being poisoned by 0.5% per hit. If the poison debuff is successfully inflicted on survivors, they are affected for a short amount of time. It's a very useful buff on Smokers using the Damage dealer role because of their role abilities where the requirements of Poisonous Spores Buff on a skill "Highly Toxic Cloud" makes it more effective on survivors. If you do die, the chances of survivors becoming poisoned return to 0% from their current percentages and may be lower than what they used to be depending on the chance.

    Super Smoker

    Description:
Gives you 0.5 seconds of invulnerability after releasing a survivor voluntarily and 1 second if you are forced to release the survivor (shoved).

    Positives
+ gives you invulnerability after releasing a survivor voluntarily or by force. Releasing by force gives longer invulnerability time.

    Negatives
    - Less useful buff if the Smoker in the Damage dealer role isn't moving around a lot of the time.

    Explanation:
The Super Smoker Buff gives you a small amount of invulnerability time to make sure you can get back into the fight after you move away from the survivors. The buff effect activates after you voluntarily or by force release a survivor with releasing a survivor by force giving double the amount of time. It is a less useful buff if the Smoker in the Damage dealer role isn't moving around a lot of the time where his other buffs prioritize on other things.

    Suffocation

    Description:
You deal 10HP additional damage for each 10 seconds that you suffocate a victim with your tongue.

    Positives
+ Increased damage overtime while you are smoking survivors

    Negatives
    - Even though this buff doesn't mention it, it's assumed that releasing a survivor voluntarily or by force will reset your increased additional damage back down to 0

    Explanation:
Cough! argh! Cough! Cough! The more you do it, the more you are being suffocated by the Smoker. The Suffocation Buff allows the Smoker to deal a small increasing amount of damage for every small periods of time passed while smoking a victim with your tongue. If you do release a survivor voluntarily or by force, it's assumed your increased additional damage done while smoking survivors is reset to 0.

    Independent Tongues

    Description:
You shoot 2 tongues instead of one

    Positives
+ You can shoot double tongue attacks at survivors instead of single ones
+ You get more bounty from smoking 2 survivors rather than 1

    Negatives
    - You can now be stunned twice in a row if a survivor managed to easily free the survivors while you are nearby
    - Only 1 survivor needs to use a knife to kill you and free the other survivor
    - You are now more easily spotted with the use of more than 1 tongue.

    Explanation:
The Independent Tongues Buff allows the smoker to shoot double the amount of tongues at nearby survivors. It is a good way to earn more bounty because you are damaging 2 survivors instead of one. However you can now be stunned twice in a row if a survivor manages to quickly free the two smoked survivors. Also only 1 survivor needs to use their knive in order to kill you and to free the other person as normal. Also because of the fact that you are now using two tongues instead of one to grab survivors, you can now be more easily spotted.

    Survivor Mop

    Description:
Dragging a survivor through acid will deal 10HP additional damage
<The survivor must be moved through the acid>

    Positives
+ You deal additional damage to survivors while dragging them through the acid.

    Negatives
    - The survivor must be moved through the acid in order for the buff effect to work

    Explanation:
The Survivor Mop Buff allows the smoker to deal additional damage while dragging the survivor through the acid. Though the survivor must be moved through the acid as well in order to increase the damage dealt while dragging.

    Tongue Explosion

    Description:
You gain an additional tongue each 3 minutes
    <You can't move while dragging>

    Positives
+ You gain an additional tongue to smoke survivors with over a long period of time.
+ You gain more bounty from smoking more survivors with x amount of tongues.

    Negatives
    - You cannot move away while dragging survivors.
    - Only 1 survivor needs to use a knife to kill you and free the other survivors.
    - You are now more easily spotted with the use of more than 1 tongue.

    Explanation:
The Tongue Explosion Buff lets you gain an additional tongue over a long period of time, allowing you to smoke more players, while this allows you to gain more bounty proportional to the amount of survivors smoked. You are unable to move away while dragging survivors, not just making you an easy target to find. You are more easily spotted with the use of more than 1 tongue. Also only 1 survivor needs to use their knife to kill you to free themselves and the other survivors.

    Corrosive Gas

    Description:
Each hit with your gas will add 10 stacks of corrosion to the enemy survivors.

0.2HP max health reduction per stack (Min: 20HP)
0.001 speed reduction per stack (Min: 0.95)
0.0003 swing speed reduction per stack (No minimum)

    Positives
+ You can apply the corrosion effect from the corrosive tank on survivors
+ A really useful buff to have equipped if your prioritizing killing yourself to deal a lot of damage to survivors from your toxic clouds.
+ Can be combined with other similar buffs to make the Smoker in the Damage dealer role more of a threat to survivors.

    Negatives
    - Nothing.

    Explanation:
Want to slow down the survivors and make them live a lot less longer? use the Corrosive Gas Buff, it inflicts 10 stacks of corrosion to enemy survivors for each hit they get. Therefore it's a useful buff to have when your prioritizing killing yourself near survivors to deal a lot of damage from your toxic clouds and to inflict additional effects. You can combine this buff with other similar buffs in the Smokers Damage dealer role to make the smoker more of a real threat to survivors.

    Gas overflow

    Description:
You deal 24HP damage per second to nearby survivors but lost 10% health per second to a minimum of 1HP.

    Positives
+ You deal small amounts of damage to survivors in return for losing a small percentage of your HP per second.
+ A useful buff to have around if you are prioritizing on killing yourself to activate other buff effects
+ Can be combined with other useful similar buffs to further boost the threat that the smoker's gas is to the survivors.

    Negatives
    - A less useful buff when the Damage dealer role for smoker focuses more on dealing high damage while alive.

    Explanation:
The Gas overflow buff, can be quite powerful at close range in closed areas to survivors nearby. It allows you to deal small amounts of damage to survivors per second in return for taking 10% of your maximum HP per second to a minimum of 1HP. Considered to be a useful buff when you are prioritizing in killing yourself to activate other good buff effects to affect the survivors. Combining this buff with other useful similar buffs will leave the Smoker's gas clouds on death as 1 powerful threat the survivors should dare not deal with. It is a less useful buff however when your more focused on primarily dealing high damage to survivors while you have more survivability.

    [Slower role]

Tongue Relationship (Also in Controller role)

    Description:
You receive 2% less damage for each second that you choke a survivor
    <Max: 95%>

    Positives:
+ You take increasingly less damage per second while you choke survivors
+ A useful buff for when your Smoker in the Slower role relies on slowing down the team.

    Negatives:
    - A less useful buff for when the Smoker focuses more on dragging the survivors while he can be seen.

    Explanation:
Want to experience a wonderful and happy relationship with one of the survivors? well now you can with the Tongue Relationship Buff, this buff lets you receive increasingly less damage for each second that you choke a survivor. A useful buff to have when smoking survivors while your hidden above, making
you less likely to take damage and having the damage dealt become more less when survivors try to shoot you down. A less useful buff however when trying to drag away survivors since you won't take that much less damage if you are easily able to be seen.

    Choke Fatigue

    Description:
Survivors that you suffocate will gain one stack of fatigue per second. After they are released, they will be slowed down by 3% per stack.

    Positives
+ You will put 1 stack of fatigue per second on survivors that are suffocated. They are slowed down by a small percentage relative to the number of stacks gained afterwards.
+ A very useful buff to have for Smokers in the Slower role.
+ Can be combined with the Tongue Relationship Buff to make it easier to halt the survivors current progress.

    Negatives:
    - A less useful buff when your not able to get many hits off suffocating survivors when you can be seen and are shot at by the other survivors.

    Explanation:
The Choke Fatigue Buff will let you put a stack of fatigue per second on survivors while choking them. After the survivors have been released from you however, they suffer a small to a massive decrease in movement speed for the amount of fatigue stacks gained while being smoked. A very useful buff to have for Smokers in the Slower role due to its purpose. You can combine this buff with the Tongue Relationship Buff to make it easier to halt the survivors progress due to the Smoker also favoring from decreased damage dealt to him from the survivors. It is a less useful buff for when your not able to slow down the survivor by much after only getting a few hits and having him get released by survivors shooting you when your seen easily.

Aggressive Tongue Impact (Also in Controller role)

    Description:
When you grab a survivor with your tongue, all other survivors around a small radius of your victim will be stunned for 2.5 seconds.

    Positives
+ When you successfully manage to attach your tongue to a survivor, all other survivors in a small radius are stunned for a short while.
+ Useful buff for setting up special infected attacks from other nearby infected.
+ Can be combined with the Choke Fatigue and the Tongue Relationship Buff to make slowing the survivors progress easier and makes it less harder for the
    other infected to help out.

    Negatives:
    - Nothing.

    Explanation:
The Aggressive Tongue Impact Buff lets your tongue stun all other survivors after it successfully latches onto your targeted survivor. A useful buff in setting up charger, boomer or additional smoker attacks to further slow the survivors progress. It can be combined with the Choke Fatigue and the Tongue Relationship Buffs to make the smoker a more of a survivalist and slower.

    [Controller role]

    Unhitable

    Description:
You receive 1% to 40% less damage from all sources based on your current speed

    Positives
+ Based on your current movement speed, take reduced damage from all sources.
+ Useful buff for when your trying to pull survivors away quickly enough from the survivors.

    Negatives
    - Less useful buff when you aren't moving as much while dragging the survivors around.

    Explanation:
Zoom! Zoom!, you might never catch this speedy smoker! the Unhitable Buff makes it so that you take less damage based on your current movement speed. If dragging survivors and moving around a lot, you can expect to receive a lot less damage than if you weren't moving at all. It's a useful buff for when your trying to pull survivors away from the other survivors as quickly as possible. Yet it can also be a less useful buff for when you aren't pulling survivors that far away and rather making yourself hidden.

    Boomer Buffs
    [Assassin role]

Boiling Vomit (Also in Slower role)

    Description:
Your vomit causes damage to survivors equal to 1 HP each 0.1 seconds while you soak them with it.

    Positives
+ Your vomit now causes damage to survivors as well as biling them
+ A useful buff if you want to focus more on damage dealing

    Negatives
    - A less useful buff if you want to focus more on bitch slapping

    Explanation:
Your vomit is now hot! Caution! it may burn survivors! The Boiling Vomit Buff allows the vomit to now deal damage to survivors as well as biling them. A useful buff to have around if your boomer in the Assassin role is focusing on damage dealing. It is however a less useful buff to have on the Boomer in the Assassin role when they are focusing more on bitch slaps instead.

Horde Power (Also in Slower role)

    Description:
The horde you invoke as a boomer will deal double damage.

    Positives
+ the next horde that you summon by vomiting on survivors will deal double damage to those biled on and others around afterwards.
+ A useful buff to have on if the Boomer is focusing on damage dealing

    Negatives
    - A less useful buff if the boomer is focusing more on bitch slapping.

    Explanation:
The Common Infected say GIMME MORE POWER!, you can give them that power by vomiting on survivors. The Horde Power Buff lets the common infected spawned as a result of the boomer vomiting on survivors deal double damage to afflicted players and to other players afterwards if they are still alive. It is a useful buff if the boomer wants to focus on damage dealing and it is a less useful buff if the boomer wants to focus more on bitch slapping survivors.

    Acid Boomer Trap

    Description:
Allows you to leave a trap in the floor that will explode when survivors get near. The trap deals 10% (Max HP) current health as true damage to survivors and spawns an acid pool on detonation. You can only place one trap per spawn and can have up to 3 traps placed. Traps disappear doing nothing after 45 seconds.
<The traps DO NOT push survivors>

    Positives
+ You can leave a trap that explodes when survivors get nearby. Deals a small percentage of Max HP as true damage and spawns an acid pool on detonation.
+ A useful buff to have if you want to setup a special infected attack to occur on explosion.

    Negatives
    - You can only place 1 trap per spawn.
    - If a large amount of time passes after traps was placed, traps disappear and do nothing.
    - Traps do not induce knockback on any survivors affected.

    Explanation:
The Acid Boomer Trap Buff is a type of boomer trap that can be placed down by being at least a few feet away from any survivor, holding down CTRL, aiming with your crosshair and then right clicking the ground to place down your trap. When survivors step on this trap they take a small percentage of their maximum health as true damage and spawn an acid pool where the detonation happened. This is a useful buff to have when your planning to setup a special infected attack to surprise unsuspecting survivors with when they step onto your trap. Just remember that you can only place down 1 trap per spawn as the Boomer. If a large amount of time passes without any survivor stepping over a placed trap, the placed trap disappears and does nothing. Also when these traps explode, they induce no knockback on survivors.

    Ambusher

    Description:
Makes you invisible as a Boomer for 1.5 seconds after you spawn. This will reduce the target survivor's response time giving you a better chance to perform a good slap

    Positives
+ You will become invisible for a short window after you spawn
+ This buff is very useful when you can time your spawn right so you have a higher chance of being able to successfully slap a survivor.

    Negatives
    - The buff is less useful when your focusing more on damage dealing rather than bitch slapping survivors.

    Explanation:
The Ambusher Buff gives you invisibility for a short amount of time before you become visible again immediately after you spawn. It's a useful buff for this case because if you time your spawn well, you have a much greater chance to delay the survivors response to your spawn and to perform a good slap at the same time. The buff is less useful when you are focusing more on damage dealing rather than bitch slapping survivors.

    Karma Spree

    Description:
Instantly resets your bitch slap cooldown after a successful slap.

    Positives
+ Current cool down timer on bitch slaps is reduced to 0 after a successful bitch slap.
+ A useful buff to have when your focusing on bitch slapping survivors.

    Negatives
    - A less useful buff to have when your focusing more on damage dealing.

    Explanation:
The Karma Spree Buff will decrease the current cool down timer on the bitch slap to 0 after a successful bitch slap has occurred. It's a useful buff to have when your focusing on bitch slapping survivors. It isn't a useful buff at all when your focusing more on damage dealing though.

    Beach Volley

    Description:
Allows you to bitch slap incapacitated survivors. Slap power on incapacitated survivors is reduced by 30%.

    Positives
+ You can now bitch slap incapacitated survivors when you previously couldn't
+ the buff effect makes it possible to kill and gain the effects of the Karma Spree Buff, making it a good buff to be paired with.

    Negatives
    - Slap power on incapacitated survivors is reduced by 30%
    - The buff is less useful if you are focusing on damage dealing.

    Explanation:
Ahh, you imagine a dream where its survivors VS boomer infected in a volley ball match on the beach, it would be an unrealistic thing to happen. However when that dream was realized in the boomers, the boomers knew that they could use their knowledge of slapping balls against slapping incapacitated survivors as a new practice. The Beach Volley Buff lets you have the ability to bitch slap incapacitated survivors as boomers. It's good to pair this buff with the Karma Spree buff in the event that there are multiple incapacitated survivors around and about near edges trying to avoid being bitch slapped and karma charged while standing up, you could kill all those incapacitated survivors by just bitch slapping them and not worrying about them trying to self revive at all. You will bitch slap with less power though on incapacitated survivors so its possible you will miss the kill on them on the first bitch slap. It is also a less useful buff when you are focused more on damage dealing.

    Launch preparations

    Description:
If your bitch slap is on cooldown, each attack with your claws will increase the power of the next slap of any boomer by 5%. The bonus percent decays by 5% each 5 seconds.

    Positives
+ While your bitch slap is on cooldown, each attack slightly increases the power of the next bitch slap.

    Negatives
    - The bonus percent decays by a small percentage every few seconds.
    - Due to your low health as the Boomer in the Assassin role, you have a higher chance to be killed when your seen trying to claw survivors.

    Explanation:
When you want to make that slap hit its mark the next time you failed to kill a survivor, Launch preparations Buff can help you achieve it. The buff effect lets each of your hits gain a small increase in the power of your next bitch slap while the ability is on cooldown. Make sure to melee the survivors often enough so that you can increase at a higher rate rather than decrease at a small rate every few seconds that pass. Also watch out when trying to claw the survivors as a boomer, you have a high chance of being killed due to your low health thanks to being in the Assassin role as a Boomer.

    Karma Enthusiast

    Description:
After a successful karma slap, you will be immune to damage for 5 seconds.

    Positives
+ After a successful karma slap, become immune to all damage for a few seconds.
+ You can combine this buff with the Karma Spree Buff to make slapping nearby survivors easy without being killed.
+ A useful buff to have when your focusing on bitch slapping survivors.

    Negatives
    - A less useful buff when your focusing more on damage dealing

    Explanation:
Want to be able to slap survivors with no cooldown on your next slap and immunity to damage after successfully killing a survivor? equip the Karma Enthusiast Buff alongside 1 other buff and you can achieve just that. After a successful karma slap, you become immune to all damage for a few seconds. This buff can be combined with the Karma Spree Buff to make slapping survivors just that much easier without the possibility of being killed. Considered to be a more useful buff when your focusing on bitch slapping survivors. It is a less useful buff when your focusing more on damage dealing.

    [Slower role]

    Vomit Cloud

    Description:
When you die as a Boomer you will leave a bile cloud for 10 seconds that will bile and slow by 6% per second any survivors that pass through.

    Positives
+ When killed, you leave a vomit cloud on your death point for a small amount of time, biling and slowing down any survivors movement speed by a small amount per second when passing through.
+ You can gain an increased moderate amount of bounty per vomit cloud on a set of survivors that pass through the vomit cloud, especially with the Goggles Buff equipped on them.
+ A useful buff to have when your focused on slowing down survivors.

    Negatives:
    - Nothing

    Explanation:
Is your vomit not enough to slow down those annoying survivors? well how about a vomit cloud on your death to make sure they do stop! The Vomit Cloud Buff will emit a vomit cloud when you have been killed on your death spot as a Boomer, it biles and slows down any survivors that pass through by a small amount per second. You can gain an increased amount of bounty from this due to some of the survivors having Goggles Buff on them when they pass through the vomit cloud, allowing you to gain another bounty from that biled survivor again after a few seconds of them being afflicted. Therefore overall its a useful buff to have equipped when your focused on slowing down survivors.

    Bloody Boomer Trap

    Description:
Allows you to leave a trap on the floor that will explode when survivors get near. The trap slows nearby survivors down by 40%. You can only place one trap per spawn and can have up to 3 traps placed. Traps disappear doing nothing after 45 seconds.
<The traps push survivors away when they explode>

    Positives
+ As a Boomer, you can leave a trap that'll explode when survivors are nearby. The trap moderately decreases movement speed of nearby survivors.
+ The traps inflict knockback on survivors when they explode.
+ A useful buff for when you want to setup special infected attacks

    Negatives
    - You can only place down 1 trap per Boomer spawn
    - If after a long period of time, placed traps aren't activated, they disappear doing nothing.

A useful buff to have for when you want to deal massive damage with your claws overtime to the survivors.

+ A useful buff for when you want to deal increasing damage quickly to the survivors

    Negatives
    - Their decreased resistance to damage slowly regenerates overtime.

    Explanations:
Is the survivor having a good time tanking damage from the special infected? you can make sure he doesn't feel that way by having the Defenseless Buff, Each time you hit a survivor with your claws as the jockey, you decrease their resistance to damage by a small percentage. A useful buff for when you want to deal increasing damage quickly to the survivors. Just remember that if you want to keep up the assault, you would want to continue melee attacking them since not doing that makes their decreased resistance to damage slowly be regenerated overtime.

    Pimp Slap

    Description:
Each 10th hit will cause the survivor to be staggered (shoved)

    Positives
+ Each 10th melee hit as a jockey will cause the survivor to be staggered and unable to act for a short window when shoved.
+ A useful buff to have for when you want to halt survivor progress a little and to deal more damage than you can.

    - Nothing.

    Explanations:
Do you really feel like someone is just harassing you too much in an infected club? why don't you be a PIMP jockey and PIMP SLAP em! The Pimp Slap Buff lets your 10th claw hit on the survivor cause him to be shoved and unable to act for a short window. This can halt survivor progress, giving your infected team time to prepare another attack quickly, or it can be used to help you get out more damage onto the survivor.

Party Enthusiast (Also in Controller) (Also in Debuffer)

    Description:
You gain 3% attack speed per survivor nearby

    Positives
+ Small increase in attack speed per nearby survivor relative to your location as the jockey.
+ A useful buff to be combining with other useful attack speed based buffs for even more damage with less attack interval time.

    Negatives
    - Nothing.

    Explanations:
You are in Versus, and see the hosts come nearby the party, they are the survivors. what do you do? With the Party Enthusiast Buff, you can make your jockey quite excited and able to deal more damage to the survivors when he has less attack interval to do his claw strikes. It's a useful buff to be combining with other useful attack speed based buffs such as Insane Jockey, Quick Claw and Last Winning Chance Buffs due to the attack speed gained. A good overall buff to be using in most roles for the jockey.

+ A useful buff to have for when you are close to achieving the full activation of the mark of permanent death buff effect or if you want to further deal more damage with lower attack interval.

    Negatives
    - Nothing.

    Explanations:
In Versus, you seem to hard a hard time to kill off every survivor with the rest of the infected. Your mark of permanent death marked survivor is alive with almost all of the marks applied on him, there are a few survivors alive as well that you could kill off quickly, given very high damage per second and the very low attack interval, making the jockey a higher threat more than most special infected to deal with. The Last Winning Chance Buff gives you a moderate increase in attack speed if the survivors are closing in on the saferoom. A useful buff to have for when you want to turn the tide around in a Versus round or if you want to be able to deal further more damage with a more lower attack interval.

    [Controller role]

A good useful buff to have since having this buff equipped makes you less likely to be killed when survivors are nearby rather than not having it equipped.

    Pickpocketing

    Description:
Each 15th claw hit will steal 1 bounty from the survivor

    Positives
+ Every moderate amount of hits dealt onto a survivor, steal a small amount of bounty from that survivor.

    Negatives
    - A less useful buff if you have less attack speed buffs equipped, making it less likely for the buff effect to work for you quickly.

    Explanation:
You can have a small chance of stealing survivors bounty by incapacitating them. But what about if you were to steal their bounty directly with the jockey instead? The Pickpocketing Buff lets every moderate amount of claw hits done by a jockey steal a small amount of bounty from the survivor affected. A less useful buff to have if you have less attack speed buffs equipped, making it less likely and much harder for you to steal bounty from the survivors.

A useful buff to have if you know that there are survivors separated from each other and you would want to make sure they don't come back together. + A useful buff if you want to make incapacitating survivors more quicker and easier to do. Also useful if you want to make the poison effect more effective with your attack speed claw hits on every survivor you target.

    Negatives
    - You need a small amount of damage to be able to start activating the effect, you can't without having reached it.

    Explanation:
The Poison Buff used to be a general infected buff, good for damage dealing hunters, chargers, smokers and jockeys as the like. Even though it may not have worked well with spitters, it still helped to ensure destruction on the survivors as a classic buff. The Poison Buff lets you have a small chance to poison survivors with your claws on hit for a small window after you deal a small amount of damage on your current spawn. A useful buff for when you want to make incapacitating survivors more quicker and easier to do. + The effects of paralyze last almost 4x as long as the poison buff effect duration.

    Negatives
    - Extremely low chance to give survivor the paralyze bad status effect.

    Explanation:
The Paralyze Buff, much in the same way as the Poison Buff was a general infected buff, good for making halting survivor progress much faster. You would have more chances to inflict the paralyze buff as a jockey rather than as other special infected due to your higher attack speeds thanks to your other equipped buffs. Since this buff is only a jockey buff, the buff lets you have a very low chance of inflicting the paralyze bad status effect on the survivors. However the effect of the paralyze buff is much more longer in duration rather than the effect of the poison buff. Remember that is an extremely low chance per hit to inflict the paralyze bad status effect per claw onto the survivors.

    Negatives

The Taller than you Buff lets you receive moderate damage reduction from incapacitated survivors who try to take you down. A useful buff for when you want to deal more damage to them before you die or if you want to give the survivor a handful number of stacks of the mark of permanent death buff.

Ways to setup Infected Buffs in roles + tactics on buffs in that role

Want to become a good player who now knows how the infected buffs work? well how about you learn the ways these infected buffs get setup in a number of special infected role sets so that you can do well in versus. The better knowledge you have about this stuff, the more you will pick up as experience gained from doing versus matches as you may end up adjusting your buffs in the buff sets for that role so you can do better or come up with a better strategy.

NOTE: There is no right/wrong buff set in every special infected role there is, it more comes down to your overall preference. Don't forget to experiment with your buffs so you can see what you can really do with the effects of them. That is also another way to learn from your buffs.

The way it is explained here is that you will get an overview of what the infected can do in their roles, going from role to role. We then look individually at each special infected and the buffs you can choose from in that role so you can get the overall ideas of how the recommended or best setup buffs are chosen for each buff set in the role of any special infected.

NOTE: the order for the special infected and their roles is as above for when their buffs were explained. If you don't know what it means.

    - Allows you to charge incapacitated survivors
    - Survivors that are impacted while you are carrying a victim will be thrown away with 30% more power
    - Performing a karma charge will reduce the enemy survivors bounty by 5

    Tips of this buff set
    - For every karma charge done, the enemy survivors bounty is reduced by 5, turning the tide of the versus match into your favor, be sure to do karma charges often where possible if it isn't hard to miss.
    - If you want to surprise a survivor and then karma charge then once they are in the right position near a death zone, spawn either a drainer or ice witch to get the job done.
    - If you don't want incapacitated survivors to get up with other survivors, when your special ability is ready, charge them away. If they are near a death zone, then karma charge them instead without missing if possible.

    - Increases your claw damage by 2HP + 1HP of per 10% missing health.
    - Each 4th hit with your claw on the same survivor will stun him for 2 seconds. Only applies once per spawn
    - After you die, a immune hostile charger is summoned for 16 seconds, periodically pounding the ground to deal 10-20HP damage to nearby survivors, the sum of it heals nearby infected. Survivors are pushed towards the charger instead of away from it
    - You block 2HP damage for each survivor nearby.

    Tips of this buff set
    - When you need to defend other infected pinning other survivors and there are standing survivors nearby, get infront of the infected pinning the survivor and take the damage for it so you can buy it some time to deal more damage, or to escape.
    - If you are in a close quarters area, be sure to die near many survivors as the when the inverse charger revenge activates, it can allow for backup infected attacks to do some damage to the survivors if they cannot get away from the hostile immune charger.
    - If you want to setup an infected attack near a death zone, quickly go and do hits on the survivor that you decide to target and get the stun on so the other infected can target him too.

    Tips of this buff set

    - Each hit with your claw will slow the target survivor by 5% per hit.

    Tips of this buff set
    - If you need to regenerate, get other infected to block the survivors path while you go to regenerate up to several ten thousand health. Just make sure to attack again soon afterwards so you don't lose control of the tank.
    - If you want to aim for survivors easier while you are far away from them, holding R can let the rock heat missile survivors, making for interesting setup infected attacks while the survivors are distracted by the rock throws.

Any Further Information to add in

    - If you guys like this buff guide, let me know if you want an updated COOP/Versus Guide for mgftw, I plan on doing 1 myself :D

I must admit I didn't read the whole thing but I'm sure I eventually will, just wanted to say this looks like it took some time and effort to create and you deserve a huge thumbs up for it. Great job and thank you for writing this, I am sure it will be very useful for a lot of players like myself who feel a bit lost with trying to figure out a balanced combination of buffs to use in order to advance and succeed in the system.

Good job! thank you very much :)

  3. This forum guide sure did take a few weeks out of my own time to create what was needed for it to be done, especially with putting down the information of the buffs taking sometime to get done. I would agree that this guide would be very useful to refer back to for VS players like you and the general mgftw community for whenever you need to come up with some buff sets for anything in particular in Versus. Practice makes everything work well for you if you know how it's going to be done strategically.

I do appreciate your good feedback rizzo and would wish for more of the mgftw community to post more feedback onto this forum thread in regards to the guide itself, will very much appreciate it :)

Alright you guys, I did say I was gonna eventually update this and it deserves one now. VS itself also deserves a guide (just came up with the idea at the time of writing). However I won't be able to do it all alone since I am gonna be mostly busy from here on out.

    So here's the deal...

If you would like to help me out on updating it, PM Myself and / or Marvel (any PMs that go to me will be sent to marvel. In the event he isn't online feel free to PM me instead since I will usually be mostly online on the forums on Saturday, Sunday, Monday (all day), Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (Morning and from Afternooon onwards) when i'm not asleep). Marvel will consider it based on what you wish to do to help out with the update of the guide and or any of the wiki pages that deserve any updates.

If you don't credit yourself for the conversion of this guide to the wiki but did contribute to the conversion, I will credit you in the credits section.

Thanks for reading, I wanted to get it out there so that you VS players who might have some good stuff to add in there can contribute to make it happen :D

Hey guys, I never posted the update for V1.1.0 for this guide, however I have gone ahead and decided to update it. the recommended buff sets pages have been completely remade as one of the major changes.

This update was also done as the update needed to all of my guides that needed those return to other page links and the top links.

Usage of Infected Buffs and Infected Roles Guide Updated! (V1.1.0 -> V1.2.0)

Usage of Infected Buffs and Infected Roles Guide (Version 1.2.0)

I won't be mentioning the changes since the guide itself got changed, plus every page too. Go check it out and enjoy!

When I did the update from V1.1.0 to V1.2.0 to update all those infected buffs, I didn't really add in the |E|Rawr... Love buff. Nor did I add in the Student Buff. Both of these buffs have been added in. You guys deserve an apology for me for not doing that when I should have included those buffs in the previous update.

In this update from V1.2.1 to V1.2.2 I changed it so that all the links no longer display the versions on them, making it easier to update the pages, without having to update all those button links. What I also did to the links was left in the abbreviations in letters of the guide for each page that is associated with any guide so that we don't get confused when some links have the same title. An example of this is to do with the Explanation of This Guide page link.

Usage of Infected Buffs and Infected Roles Guide Updated! (V1.2.1 -> V1.2.2)

Usage of Infected Buffs and Infected Roles Guide (Version 1.2.2)

    ...

    Additions
+ Added in the |E|Rawr... Love and Student Buffs to the 4th page of the General Infected Buffs section.

    Changes
= Changed pretty much all of the links, by removing the versions from them. See above for the reason why I did this.
= Added in navigation links to more than just the next page or the previous page to make it easier when navigating around within the guide.
= Shortened some of the words to make it easier to fit in the links. This was most applicable with the Main Guide Page.
= Highlighted in lime green, rather than using the colour similar to the green that mgftw uses to show for when your on the same page as the link of the page.

    Removals
    - None.

    ...

All guides with links that have version numbers will soon be updated too. They will reflect the changes made here if your wondering. Be sure to keep an eye out on the updates coming to my other guides.

It's been quite a while since I've last decided to do an update on this guide. If there is one thing that I do know, 1 or more buffs have had their descriptions recently changed and during tomorrow or so I will be updating said buffs that have been affected.

Heres to V1.2.3. It's no special update by the number or anything, but I've started work on the Playstyles to use in VS Page. If you guys want to have some fun at choosing or randomizing which buff sets to use in VS, well you sure can do that and make VS more enjoyable for you.

Usage of Infected Buffs and Infected Roles Guide Updated! (V1.2.2 -> V1.2.3)

Which playstyle to use in VS?
    Playstyles for all maps
Usage of Infected Buffs and Infected Roles Guide (Version 1.2.3)

    ...

    Additions
+ Added in Which playstyle to use in VS? Page. The link to this page is accessible from the main page of the guide.
+ Added in Playstyles for all maps Page. The link to this page is accessible from within the Which playstyles to use in VS? Page.

    Changes
    = None so far.

    Removals

Look out for another post tomorrow with more updates, enjoy! :D

Here's the update to V1.2.5. I decided to become a bit busy and did something else instead of updating my guides until yesterday. Anyways the reason why the version is V1.2.5 and not V1.2.4 is because I updated this guide twice, during yesterday and today.

Usage of Infected Buffs and Infected Roles Guide Updated! (V1.2.3 -> V1.2.5)

    Different types of playstyles
Usage of Infected Buffs and Infected Roles Guide (Version 1.2.5)

    ...

    Additions
+ Added in the Different types of playstyles Page. You can access this page from the Which playstyle to use in VS? Page.

    Changes
= Added in the remaining information and finished off the Playstyles for all maps page.
= Added in all information which finishes off the Different types of playstyles Page.
= Changed the description, negatives and explanations with the Aggressive Tongue Impact Buff, usable by the Slower and Controller Classes for the Smoker Special Infected.

    Removals
    - None.

That'll be it with the updates for this guide for now...
