Add Rules on Sprays to in Game Rules

well for example votekicks daughter casey plays on our server guys does she really need to be seeing thee things you all should have commen sense that its a public server and not post those thing like if you feel the need to have those make it your desktop wallpaper but dont bring it to gaming...

 

well, it depends on the admin.

i have not seen offensive ones so far.. and most of the time im in AUS server.. so i guess the players there are more considerate or im just good at admin.. lol

 

Even if there is no nude on the spray and it is kinda innapropriate, I just warn them about it.

 

Ok, I have been watching this thread for a while now looking to see if the debate will come
up with a definition as to what is unacceptable as a spray and it seems to me that it like this.

Nudity, Porn and Extreme Violence are the ones people are complaining about. So with that
as my base im seeing it like this -

Porn & Nudity - No Sprays showing full frontal nudity or sexual genitalia or Sexual Acts.
Violence - No Sprays that show graphic or extreme violence in non-cartoon form.
Racist Spray - No sprays containing or showing ANY form of racial hate or racism.

We have Zero Tolerance Policy on Racism at MG so that go with out saying really.

am i missing any thing?

This is pretty much what I think most Admin are doing or should be anyway as
I think the rules for this fairly much go with out saying as it is a bit of a no brainer
and is not hard to work out what is ok and what is unacceptable.

You guys all ready know what is ok to spray and you sure as hell dont need me
to tell you, So im going to add this to the rules today with Stefeman's post in mind
more so the players can no longer say 'but there's no rules about it...i looked!'
because there is than any of you guys needing guide.

Also I need clarification from a root about on the issue of advert links in name tags, I remember a
post saying that people with names like 'L4D_Support.com. can get there ban over turned if they
- change their name and then enter a ban protest - I need to know if this was decided on and if
that was agreed on so I can add a foot note in the rules list.

I think it's fair to say that any ban is overturnable (is that a word? lol) if the issue is fixed, an apology is offered and a promise made not to do again.

 

Thats not what I mean, I think a decision was made to say that they could be unbanned if
they changed there names but I need to know for sure before I enter it as a statement in
the rules list.

Ok couple days ago I seen a player *can't remember his name at the moment* sprayed a moving spray that had woman poseing almost nude but not completely *naughty nightys* I didn't think anything about it because it was sprayed at the first of the map and then we left that part and continued on.

I think thats him but not certain but he was a new player so all i did was warn him nothing more.

In the future I will be more aware of these situations and respond to them with the correct tactics and I'm sorry If I have hurt anyone for letting it slip by me.

 

Theres the possibility to remove the Spray, if i remember well....

So warn the player and remove the spray, maybe make a screen for later proof.....

 

This can be difficult to do. Right now, there are a couple commands under sm_admin (server commands) that are missing. It's not easy to totally design a new mod from scratch and port over all the commands and stuff. HC did a famously good job with HI, but it is on his list to bring over the additional commands.

So yes, a spray can be traced, and also yes, we will be adding some more stuff to make it easier.

The bottom-line about sprays are:
- We take all complaints about them seriously
- They can't have pornographic imagery, racist imagery, etc. (example: hitler spray)
- Jokes and things need to be in good taste
- Try to limit the presence of curse words, or only use in context
- Do not advertise other servers
- Do not advertise cheats or hacks
- Admins can trace who is using inappropriate sprays

Any non-official spray is used at the gamer's own risk, subject to MG's rules stated here!
