DayZ Standalone now available at steam

    Long story made short: I figured out several ways to run any years old scripts from Arma 2 in DayZ standalone lol.

    And i'm sure im not the only one. So much for the "server side" claims.. =/

    Well, 30 minutes after writing the stuff to root area, they flagged the software i used lol

    This means that VAC is definitely now active, but the issue remains.. people will just use any other injectors and the same procedures can be repeated countless times.

    Btw don't dispute your purchase of DayZ with Paypal. I heard Steam will close your steam account if you dispute any purchases until you close the dispute, which will probably cause your steam account to be unavailable for days.

    I was reading stories from people having worth $1800 of games in their account and Steam just banned them until they closed the Paypal dispute.

    Well, Im not really sure if its legal for them to do that.

    lol, at the dayzforums they are deleting any topic with people who question the serverside controlled game lol.

    it's sad. It seems to be a real thing these days that devs can put out a product at full price and then swipe away any criticisms with a comment of "IT'S OKAY GUYS IT'S IN ALPHA". What happened to putting out a product that is release-quality from the beginning?

    Not as if DayZ is just a small indie mod anymore. I hope it turns out well, but it's not looking good.

    The official word on anticheat is that most of it is turned off to reduce load on the central server (db server). Ofcourse this is no answer to what happend their goal of tracking all items server-side.

    I think they have spend a lot of time/money on it and found out half a year later that it is simply impossible to track 30.000 items, hundreds of zombies and lots of player commands all on the server-engine. They probably picked another approach just to make sure they could release the alpha on steam within a couple of months.
    The way i see it is that they have added some extra functionality to the current A2 engine to make less room for cheaters, and that's it.

    I was quite dissapointed when i read about the server-architecture but things are the way they are. Future has to show how good their anticheat in combination with VAC works. I can't imagine it will be as bad as the original A2 engine but if it still sucks, i hope they will give serveradmins the proper tools to keep track on players, use whitelist systems/email verification etc.

    When I just ignore all the anticheat stuff and look at the game itself, it looks quite promising.
    - Weather system that has effect on health
    - The huge amount of objects that can be found
    - Customizable weapons
    - Clothes in all forms, sizes and types to protect you from the elements

    From what i have seen in the past hours of playing, the focus on PVP moved to survival. In the mod you had tons of millitary stuff and just a few survival items, but now it is the other way around.

    And in the end: it's still very alpha. This game will be probably playable within a couple of months and still lack a lot of features.

    In either case, there has to be a filter support for hosters, otherwise every future remote exec which is being developed at the moment will work for years if the hacker has a bypass of any kind.

    If there are no filter support for scripts and remote execs, it's gonna be hell as soon as first remote exec is out for everyone (Scripts and RE's cannot be patched, they can be only banned via filters as they exploit game mechanics). What they are patching/detecting would be bypasses.. should one have working bypass for even a minute, without filters he could basically execute any old shit he wants.

    Yeah think about it if there's already hackers after 1 day what would it be like in 6 months? What would it be like when the game is final and everybody starts buying it? Hackers will destroy this game for sure. No doubt.

    Well, if we crawl in the ground like maggots and meanwhile the hackers can spawn multiple jets at will, theres no doubt they will use the power they have to do all kinds of crap.
