Testing steam integration

    Hey guys,

    It's me Luke again. As you can see, I got steam authentication code finished. By that, I mean I can actually click on the steam login button above, sign in, and start posting and creating threads right away (as I'm doing now). I skip the user registration process completely-- I just sign in through Steam :)

    This will be my dummy thread to test stuff while I work on getting Steam integrated (I would've posted this in the admin section but I didn't give this account rights there yet).

    Will we login with EITHER our steam login, or the usual forum login name?
    or will both be tied together?
    or will the forum login be going away?

    I think you have both options because of all the history attached to existing accounts.

    It's very useful for new players that are too lazy to register ;)

    Either, unless you link your forum account to your steam. Now that you mentioned it, that's not a bad idea. :)

    Yes that would be nice :)

    But future members should have only one option which is the steam login I think. We might even be able to integrate steam chat?

    Alright, MGFTW now has its own steam title provider! I found some old code from AM (credits to xPaw) and modified it to today's standards, and made it vB compatible. Look:

    [Sorry for the double post, gtg] Steam chat is not possible to integrate because that would require passing steam username/passwords and Valve would hate that :)

    Now it prints my name as my steam nickname, "Luke". :) Now it is almost at the beta testable state.

    Will this be optional? I change my steam name a lot and would prefer to keep Zsoka as my MG forum name :)

    @Collector: Thanks, I'll work on fixing that next

    @Zsoka: Yes, it will be optional. You are not required to integrate with your forum account with Steam, but doing so will enable PR stats and such on your account.
