I'm liking the overall idea and what's been mentioned so far - but is this going to spawn even more "n00b" flaming? People who prize themselves as being all that and then some when it comes to L4D2 are already horribly mean and snobby to the new/lower level people - but maybe that's mainly on Versus.

    I know what you mean.
I usually tend to stay in the back to help the newbies too, and when I do end up early in the safe room, if I see the last batch having difficulties, I tend to go back out and attempt a rescue.

I get frustrated too when people are like, "hurry up, noobs".
It's not always farming, and sometimes they, and even I, have a hard time in the back. Although I do keep in mind most new players are douchebags themselves and whine a lot. I help them, sure, but if I don't see any appreciation and the dude just farms behind, then I won't do it again. But then again, you can find some good new players.

I remember when austinrenaud was lower level and discovering the game too. Look at him now, a trial admin.

TBH, no matter the level, I throw a molotov on an overwhelmed incapped teammate.
    Why?
Because it kills the horde, and gives me a better chance to quickly help him up, without taking too many risks (SI love me), and saving time.
If he dies in the process, all I can do is apologize for killing, and I just wanted to help.

Besides, it's not every low level that knows that there's a !buy menu, and manages to snatch a molotov somewhere, so they don't really care.

Haha, yep. I understand how many new players feel. When I first started, it took me two weeks to even figure out how to buy upgrades. It amazed me how everyone else could just leave me for dead while rushing ahead. I am usually fine by myself in back.....until this server :P

Here is what happens in the back:

    1. Low levels/new players are left behind
    2. Gets attacked by hordes of zombies, which is fine until 3
    3. SI start coming for the two/three people in the back
    4. 3 hunters/smokers get all the team at the same time
    5. Everyone in the back dies
Conclusion: No help from stronger people, they get left behind and die. Without teamwork (or buying it), how are the lower levels supposed to grow levels to get strong?

you should try play coop at australia with the new players..

since they are new to PR and especially PR coop, they tend to suggest funny ways to surive the spitter and tank.

They chose camping in the bar despite me telling them not to.. lol

the tank teleport to them and smack every one of them.. and the spitter as usual with its 1 second spits killed the whole team.

They go to Versus, kill a few guys and get the EXP, then the people on Versus whine because of the noobs that come.

I have to agree and disagree at the same time.
I've played long enough to see the worst teams ever, and the best.
When I play, I always try to help the back out when I can, most of the times I'm alone to do so, and so either I get overwhelmed with the late comers or we make it through. So at keep confident that at least when I'm around, there's minimum team work. Other than that, I have no idea how it goes when I'm not around.

I know helping at the back isn't everything there is to team work, but it's already a good start to help the others get better, make it to the end and let them have a good gaming experience on MG servers.

The best teams I have ever played with are teams that are made of people I talk to on here. I think that when people talk and communicate on the forums, they get along better in-game.

For example: When playing on Helms Deep, I first joined and played with no one I know, we died in the first 5 minutes twice.
I came back later to find almost everyone I know there. Not suprisingly, we won multiple times.

You make good points... the worst thing is that the more experienced players bash on the new players and it's not even necessarily due to how they play it's that they're account just does not have all the upgrades that the more experienced have... so of course they can't take a beating like the other guys, they can't move as fast at the other guys, they can't get out of a bind like the other guys - and yet it's totally they're fault and they're some kind of n00b...

1)"Not only do those who stay and help the new players get significantly more points than the self-absorbed rushers"-lol, when i try to help them i usually get nothing
2)"The High Levels have forgotten they were nubs once, too"-i saw some guys which had small levels(3-7) but played awesome. And i saw some guys which tried to kill a charger with a sniper riffle by using melee button.
    3)NP logic:
i tried to help Np but hunter pounced on me.He(NP) could kill him but he didn't shoot. He saw me, he wasn't blind but he didn't shoot.i know it's so hard to shoot...
    In a result,i always die...and they're too.

You can see the difference in teamwork if you compare coop with versus, its just so huge

I played coop and spawned 2 tanks (not that hard) and almost everybody dies because the don't help eachother.

When they buy 2 or 3 tanks on versus those tanks are slaughtered in less than a minute lol

I just actually joined a Hong Kong game, where there is zero teamwork at all. When I joined, everyone was in about 5 feet of eachother. One of them had a jockey on them. Not suprisingly, no one killed the jockey even though they had the chance lots of times.

I think Hong Kong has especially been hit by the Anit-teamwork virus.

I have thrown a molotov at a teammate to save them from a horde, but this goes beyond that. One players saw 4 of us endcapped, 2 spitters nailing us as we try to crawl to him and he throws molly after molly after molly at us without trying to help one of us up. Once we were all dead, he moved on to molly the next group of survivors. THIS is what pisses me off.

And how about those that molly the Saferoom door then close it on ppl trying to get inside, or the one blowing up cars CONTINUOUSLY. These are the ppl that should get penalized for intentionally griefing their team.

A "noob" isnt gonna stand in the flames that long if he is walking. One "noob" standing in it until he DIES would still be only 100-120 damage, this is why I said after 450 damage done to team mates that they start to only gain 90% exp then if they do more damage to teamates the handicap would go to 75% or 80% and so on. I have played on a server that penalized exp gain for damage to team mates like this AND for every med kit used on yourself. Med kits used on others didnt count toward the exp/bounty penalty. Worked pretty well, which is why I suggested it here.

    Well said.

    I am so upset.
Yesterday, unfortunately for me, I came across one heck of a dbag on USA COOP (since EU COOP was so full of bs), and I really want to know what others think.

So when I joined into cold stream, we finished the map and went onto the next (the 2nd in the campaign I believe, with the tank and the sun in our eyes blinding us). Since it's USA, I have some lag and take a bit longer to load, and when I did load, this is what I see :
1 guy was JUST OUTSIDE THE SAFE ROOM DOOR, JUST IN FRONT getting his ass kicked by a hunter, and there were other SI if I saw properly.
I see the others looking, so I went to rush out and help him, I mean he was just in front of the door, I had 2 feet to run to be able to melee everything around.
So this guy was dying, and some other guy was spam opening/closing the door when I and a few others were trying to get out. I was already pretty pissed at EU COOP and not in such a good mood, so when I saw this, I immediately called for a votekick.
    Why?
Disrupting gameplay fluidity and denying assistance be brought to a teammate in need (right outside the bloody SR, I insist)
The votekick didn't pass even if I stated the reason, and had a talk with the guy. I had never been so upset and disappointed with a player, and he actually had the guts to tell me that "it's what rushers deserve". Seriously, he was just outside the safe room door. Even if he is a rusher, he's still our teammate and another player, so why should we not help him? That guy just wanted to leave the rusher there to die, refusing to let us help him as much as he could by spamming the door shit. And then he added something about "CP not being loaded".

    Facepalm.

My CP was loaded at 200 latency when I was trying to rush out, and he's going to tell me his wasn't ? An American with 60 latency. Checking his stats page to see if it was someone who actually is known to all, I see 20 hours of gaming time on MG, 6k points, and was lvl 45 in game. I could only assume that this guy wasn't that well known, and that only 3 votes passed for the kick, when everyone was pretty much loaded (at least if I was, most were).

I'm convinced my votekick had 2 valid reasons to pass, but no-one wanted to kick him, so I can only come to think the majority approved of this manner of treating a rusher (I didn't even see the name of the victim, I just raged at the guy messing with us and the door). If USA COOP is really like that, then I doubt I'll ever go back on it, with such a horrible attitude.

Ahh, welcome to the world of Hong Kong gaming.

I have seen so many things like this happen before, and it is just plain disappointing when people are so rude and selfish that they wont even save a person right outside the saferoom door, it's just sad. And of course, the votekick would not work, becuase people are just like that...
I would say the best thing to do would be to submit a ban request so the roots can look over it. I mean, clearly, they know you well enough that you wouldn't lie about that.

Or....you could just do what I think you should do....(message me if you don't know what I am talking about).

But in conclusion, this is sadly going to happen. THere are always people out there that want to ruin the game for you and everyone else. Rushing is not right outside the saferoom door. Next time if you didnt this time, record it, and send it to an admin to look over, or just talk to an admin that is online. :)
