Nobody thinks so except you. The only one L4D server is absolutely empty most of the time.

marvel, just because you think that all non-steam guys are cheaters, doesn't mean they all are. Take me for example, I have the non-steam version of L4D2, but have never thought about cheating on your servers. Yesterday, when Popshotz told me that you dropped non-steam, I was really sad, because your servers are the best servers I've played on. Especially perks and points. I had a great time on P&P. So, I guess this is a goodbye from me.

I, for one, can say that Marvel doesn't think non-steamers are cheaters. I was a non-steam player for quite sometime on these servers and moreover, I became admin while being non-steam. When I heard about the servers dropping non-steam support I did buy the game - L4D1 and 2 because the games were THAT good. Usually I just pirate a game because I always want to "test" the game first. If you like what our servers provide and what L4D1/2 offers then there is no easier option than to buy the game :P
It's obvious that you like our servers - so why prolong this misery and not buy the game? If there are certain inhibitions stopping you from buying a game then buy it over Steam - if you don't have a credit card then there are certain providers that can give you a credit card voucher that can be used in conjunction with PayPal allowing you to buy a game as easily as you top-up a phone!
Put simply - Buy The Game. With so many new updates a non-steam patcher/updater won't even be able to keep up anymore.

Unfortunetely, when Marvel dropped the non-steam support he dropped the mod support at the same time. :)

Its not about non steam players being cheaters, its about not being able to bann non-steamplayers so its unfair to the steamplayers who can be banned.

Besides that, its 19$ and if your having so much fun dont be a cheapass and buy it.

Its no use because a lot of countries and users still have dynamic IP adresses. So all they have to do is reconnect and theyre given a new IP.
