Day Z: Anybody interested to setup a group/clan?

The goal is to survive from the zombies but... since other players on the server (50+) have to survive aswell they might kill you because of their lack of drinks/food/they like your gun and stuff or just for fun.

I got my head blown out near a military base tonight for the 2nd time...

 

By next week i should be all set in with a good internet connection up in Wyoming so I am going the game then....

That's what I said when I thought about waiting for the Summer Steam sales. It looks like too much fun.

 

Game looks excellent. Who wants to join me? I think we should set up a clan for this.

 

Whats fun on this server is that you have to be extremely pro to survive. You got zombies, bandits etc.
Like if you fire a rifle in a deserted area you will be heard by nearby bandits and your fucked.

you have to constantly watch your supplies, location, etc. You have to navigate with or without compass etc.
hunt, fill your waterbottle in a creek.

You just try to survive as long as possible. The average life expectancy is 31 minutes lol. I managed 10 hours tops.

And if thats not enough you can try to find cars, advanced weapons etc.

 

Downloading the game right now. Wow, that's a lot to download O_o

 

What I forgot to mention is that the surroundings just look foto realistic (exept for the weapons and stuff)

It will bring the fastest videocards to its knees at max settings.

Yeah, I think a ballpark figure was that only 25% of requests to host are fufilled (though it seems random, because some people seem to get approval overnight, others wait for weeks).
It would have to be a pretty beefy server (especially CPU) with an amazing connection and very high bandwidth allowances to get 75 , although it might then get approved much faster and would undoubtably be popular.
As for the reserved slots thing; as far as I can tell from scanning the staff posts on the forums, they want to add it, if for no other reason to help stop admins kicking for slots but it's sort of been implied that the Arma2 developers would have to implement it, not the mod team. They tried to make some script to lock servers when near capacity and allow IRC users or in-game admins to unlock to get in but decided not to use it for whatever reason. Of course without reserved slots, if we had a quality server, we would never all be able to get on simultaneously since any decent server is always full.

It is pretty damn demanding. The base game isn't too bad, my 560ti can run it at highest with postprocessing turned down a little with a nice high FPS. But in it's current state, DayZ will push that right down (admittedly my card isn't OCd right now); I have to lower quite a few settings to get a decent FPS, even then it runs incredibly hot. It's something that Rocket has said he is going to try to improve with future updates.

 

Is everyone here "in the know" about the Teamspeak server? I usually just lurk these forums once in a while and came across this thread by accident.

We use Marve's private atm, but he will probably make one for MG soon with some channels in it.

 

i've been playing this game for like a month now. i hang out with 1-2 of the main developers of the game, and together with 1 of the oldest DayZ communities out there.

The game really is a lot of fun, but when you play to much it can be quite borring lol

 

What I really want to ask is can the DayZ mod... be modded?

I finally found a decent gun, Enfield, and a compass yesterday, but now I'm starving. Can you die from this condition?

 

when your food or water is flashing in red. you will be losing like 8-20 blood per second.
so yes you will die in the end
