As collector said you can figure out the problem with the beeps.

I see your computer is a Dell, so I think this link maybe can help you:
    http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/inspd530/en/OM/HTML/trouble.htm

The common thing I use to do with similar problems when I repair the computers on my house:

1.- Try with another PSU (I maybe be the problem)
2.- Disconnect one by one the components connected to the mainboard and try to turn it on each time, special care with the memories, without memories the PC will beep like crazy so try to test it with 1 memory at a time, i see you have the 4 slots full also try each memory on different slots because the slots can be the problem too.
3.- You can also try to clean the memory slots a little before you try.

NOTICE: Look out when you take any component appart, the PC have to be completly disconnected and watch out the static.

Thanks for all your help everyone! I really appreciate it, but I decided to just buy a new computer. The one I have now is from 2008, so it was time to buy a new one anyway. Besides, in 2 business days I will be able to play L4D2 on the lowest setting with more than an average of 10 fps.

  4. This is why I don't use pre-build computers from companies (e.g. Dell). They always screw up and their customer service sucks.

Best to have a custom build computer instead. Just be sure you have the money to build it :P

    Hey

I recommend you call a qualified technician to check your computer. If you manipulate the computer you need professional tools as for example the anti static wrist strap. By the symptoms I am observing is an outside chance that is your source of power. The most likely have ignition problem relay on the main board, which is bad news for you. I am sorry to say this. I hope I'm wrong.
    Good Luck!.

PD: My apologies for my English.

In a Dell computer it is harder to locate and solve problems like these. In my own custom built computers these kind of problems mostly had the following causes:

    1. moving resulted in cables snapped loose from the motherboard. This is not allways visible, a slight bit can already cause failure.
    2. motherboards with an old or screwed cmos battery cannot bare the power outage from unplugging. Mostly the solution for this problem is simple, just remove the power cable and the cmos battery from the system, wait 5 minutes, and put them back on. The bios settings are reset after performing this action.
    3. videocard/dram contacts. don't ask me why, i am not a physicist, but somehow the contacts of these components to the motherboard cause a problem like this by moving.

testing your power supply by using the paperclip trick will not work. Unsufficient watts cannot be tested by this trick. When you already got a picture on your screen that tells you the bios is not detecting anything, your motherboard looks pretty screwed. Though to me this sounds a bit obscure. By moving your computer the motherboard is not likely to cause a failure like this. (i am not telling that it cannot happen, since it happened to me too ;d) Mostly your motherboard is not broken, but the bios and cmos battery are causing this problem. The chance of your computer being total-loss (if the motherboard of a dell system is broken, you are best off with buying a new system, it is a pain to get a spare one, and dell is not using the default atx specifications) is very small.

Sometimes it is not worth knowing the cause of a problem if you can solve it. Buying a new system is the most reasonable option in my opinion.

Confused. So you bought a brand new PC that will only be able to handle L4D on the lowest settings with an average of 10+ FPS?.................................................................................even my custom built PC can handle more than that..

It was a joke...because it can play L4D2 on the highest settings with over 10 fps, unlike the one I have now.

ohhhh derp i get you now lol, was going to say....doesnt exactly take a top of the line pc to run a game like l4d on high settings with good fps rates
