When looking at cpu and motherboards, you need to make sure the socket type matches, since it's basically how the cpu connects to the motherboard. That motherboard is socket AM3 which only AMD uses, so that rules out any Intel cpu.
Yeah i spent the day researching and decided that i'm not going to upgrade my mobo and cpu just yet but when i do, i'll go for i5 2500k and ASRock P67 Extreme4 and then possibly add another gtx 560ti in SLI mode..
ASRock is a little bit low budget. Doesn't perform very well. With your budget I would go for AMD any day of the week, you'll get a lot more bang for your buck then. Intel is way more expensive. I just ordered a new pc too btw not to brag or anything just want to show you the specs and want to know what you think I left out the HDD's for now because the prices are sky high due to the flooding in Thailand. I am currently running a AMD system which i custom built 6 months ago but i'm thinking of replacing my current motherboard and a cpu for better "performance" .. Current motherboard: Asus M4A87TD USB3 Current CPU : AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition OC 4GHz I did a bit of research on i5 2500k and i7 2600k and what i found was that i5 2500k is more suitable for me because i don't do any video editing or any hard core things, i just serf the internet, watch movies, play games etc but hopefully i'll start working quite soon which would require coding etc .. Yes the current system can do everything and i even read/compared i5 2500k vs bulldozer but i get bored of things pretty quickly so i thought i might as well buy a new mobo/cpu for now, later on add another graphics card and then when i have a job and making
@BoneKeep, I chacked the Omega website and he is only just starting on the Nvidea-Omega Drivers for Win7, guess I will have to check back I think I have been to that site before but forgot about it, which is a shame as I remember liking that he re-/pre-tweeks the drivers in preference fopr gaming. Thanks for the link though as I would not of thought about it PS. @Marve, we should have a Fixed/Permanent section for this in the General Area of the forum, for both Advice and Discussion What ya think?
i'm going to stick with AMD. like marvel as said "Intel is just so much more expensive"while for gaming AMD is pretty good the new AMD FX-8150. its just a bit better then the i5. and almost in some ways is better then the i7 2600k. also the price difference between FX-8150 and I7-2600K is like 100 euro's. Also like i;ve said it all depends what you want to do with your computer to know whats really the best for you. if you want to go for graphic designing and using more kinds of software at the same time. go for INTEL. if you only go for gaming. choose AMD. as Games dont use more then only 2 physical threads.
Ps. btw just wait for the next AMD CPU. as it will be much better then the FX-8150 as they're using new technology
currently i have: amd phemon x6 1055t at 2.8 ghz 8gb ddr3 kingston 1.333mhz sapphire hd 6870 (1gb) m4a89gtd-pro and this setup only costs about 400-450 euro. and it owns everything i throw at it, and if its at its peak, i can overlock my 6 core cpu to 3.4ghz ( with another cooler a extra 20-30euro ) and i can overclock my gpu about 50% for future games with the current cooler. so basically its a low budget system for your hardcore gaming needs. if you really want a good pc and you dont want to spend alot of money one it, go for amd/radeon, they almost have the same proformance as intel/nvidia but you pay less money.
Have you gone ahead and brought the PC? If not, I recommend changing the video card that has more then 1GB of VRAM because games like BF3 are memory hungry, for example the two below. This is good. http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-...mhz-gddr5-gpu-880mhz-shader-1760mhz-384-cores Cheaper, but for just a little more, could push it to the MSI above. http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-...mhz-gddr5-gpu-822mhz-shader-1645mhz-384-cores
I already have a GTX 560ti 1GB card which i bought 6 months ago so maybe i'll buy another 560ti or maybe 570/580 in the future to run them together.. On BF3 ultra settings, i get 50-60 fps easily and on other games, i get 60+fps easily so graphics card isn't a problem for me yet..
1gb is fine if you going to use resolutions of 1080p, if you go above that than you will need more Vram
Yeah right now i'm using 1080p and like i told Marvel earlier, i will get another good graphics card before trying out eyefinity but that's good no. of months away .. Gotta find a decent job first
I just threw this system together about 3 months ago: Gigabyte 880GMA-USB3 AMD 1100T Black Edition (3.4 ghz x 6, factory overclocked to 3.7) 2x4GB G-Skill RipJaws 1600 Corsair H70 Liquid CPU Fan NVIDIA GTX560 Ti Acer HN274Hbmiiid (3-D monitor; 1080p@120 hz; largest monitor endorsed by NVIDIA ) I went with a six-core AMD because of their performance, price, and also because that 8-core is out already (you can check it out here: http://sites.amd.com/us/promo/processors/Pages/fx-processor.aspx). I look at it like buying a 6- over an 8-cylinder auto: If I can still get the same results cheaper, the rest is overkill... This system cost me, with the monitor, about $1800, and I still plan on maxing out my RAM.
