Remove Scenario Cooldown

There are quite a few of us in the Western Hemisphere (most commonly U.S and Canada) that can't even host a scenario without any players from Asia. We literally have to depend on them for any success in a scenario, if we can even start one at all during our evening hours. What's the point of a Scenario Cooldown if we can't even get a scenario started? We have to get up very early in the morning (no later than 9 am for me in the eastern United States) and constantly look in discord for any scenarios being hosted, just so we don't miss out.

And then once a scenario cooldown occurs and then ends, most of the players are offline by then and most of the servers would be empty, due to the lack of players from the Western Hemisphere. It might have worked for all the players in the Eastern Hemisphere, but it does not work well on us in the west at all that have to not be able to host a single scenario. So much for trying to cater to the rest of the world.

Scenario cooldowns only occur on the weekends since more scenarios get hosted around Saturday and Sunday (more the latter day than the former). Outside of weekends, scenarios get hosted frequently depending on what everyone feels like doing, if it isn't an admin/mod hosting the scenario.

I can agree with you though that with scenarios, it's hard to host them outside of the usual times of 5pm - 3am GMT+8. It's usually when most high level players are online since at all other times, lower to mid levels are online more commonly. I wish I could be there to help out with scenarios, such as with gathering players for them outside of the the usual times but it's not exactly easy :(

If we were to accomodate all players, then 1 suggestion could to be extend the amount of scenarios that need to be won up to 7, rather than 5 (and don't count 1 time scenarios that are won). The problem I could see with this is that with scenario hosting, it can make the other servers become emptied out and deserted for a time. This problem could also occur if to say the scenario cooldown was reduced.

So... balancing out scenario cooldowns for everyone is not easy either. Therefore removing the scenario cooldown wouldn't be the best idea right now.

Well alright, but at least it would be nice to reduce the cooldown time to somewhere between maybe 50 at least to 90 minutes at the absolute most. Although I've seen the timer get reduced, judging by the cooldown currently set to 1 hour and 57 minutes, and the time it took overall for us to be able to host again with a difference of usually around 10-15 minutes.

It didn't feel like a huge difference to me though, but setting it to about 1 hour and 15 minutes, given the tank kills that reducing the cooldown by a total of not a lot more than 15 minutes, working it out to be approximately a 1 hour cooldown, is reasonable enough.

To everyone reading this, it seems to be the other way around now compared to 1 and 2 years ago, when it comes to how much people from Asia played on the server and how much people from EU and North America played together. Years ago, there were very little number of players from asia, compared to the massive amounts of players from EU and North America. The last couple of years though, the amount of players from both of those areas, was fairly balanced, which left all of us able to start at least one scenario at any point in time. Although, there was still a bit more players that connected from Asia in the last year.

But now at this point, there is still yet to see an abundance of players from North America. There is still quite a bit of players from Europe, but the players from Asia, seems to have increased by a lot. It is quite ironic that the popularity of L4D2 in all of the Western Hemisphere, seems to have decreased in the last few years, but in Asia however, it seems to have increased, seemingly just based on the number of players connected to the servers. Even then, I've seen less North American players on any server in L4D2 than before.

This is more of an off topic reply I know.

As far as I can remember back from 2015:

There used to be more of a balance when it came to the servers (and it could be very well seen with the amount of players across all regions playing at the same time). With this lasting for quite some time, even as changes happened to the ASIA servers because of bad events that took place since the last few years ago.

There were also way more older ASIA players as well, with most of them being low to the mid levels. You barely saw a few high levels on, which also made the tier 2 and tier 3 tank spawns much more rarer than they are more commonly today.

Then since the last few years, the number of old players, including those from the NA and EU regions dropped off significantly. Even though you can still see some of these older players today, the number is much less than normal. Unfortunately this does result in EU and CA servers being empty almost 24/7 sometimes outside of admin events. So I can agree with what you say there ^^

As for the cooldown, best to wait and see what the other players think about it.
