Internet Relay Chat (IRC)

Not sure if this is the right section, but it is related to a server.

Internet Relay Chat is basically as i define it: a manageable chatroom which has many features.

A "IRC" would keep the community together, gives the users the option to make their own rooms and is perfect for the game servers since you can link the chat up to the server with some plugins.

I've seen many of communities on MTA (Mod for GTA SA) use it and it turns out great to keep the community together and well active.

yeah MG did have an IRC and i remember being in there quite a lot. not a lot of people actually used it though mainly the admins if i recall.

not quite sure what happened to it though.

 

we have irc relay settings which we simply stopped updating

senior admins found it antiquated and unnecessary/redundant

i personally liked it, but that isn't good enough of a reason to keep it

when we DID have it, we had the occasional gamers, but it was mostly a place where admins chatted

conversely, it was a nice way for gamers to get to know us or our team

 

Global chat still works across the servers, if you want to get people to come to your server to increase numbers in versus or for contacting an admin that might be in another server you can use a certain syntax then your message.

 

This was why I liked IRC... admin-related purposes and live chat,
admin-summoning, and server maintenance/monitoring

 

Wait are you saying there is still a way to use global chat? I thought this was no longer a thing without the help of irc. I tried using % once in game as I thought that was the syntax but it didn't do anything.
