So, after about almost a year of playing on MG, getting to know many nice people, I have been kicked today for unknown reasons. Apparently dead stopping a hunter is a

A kick with few minute ban is a votekick, so if that was the case then it wasn't an admin's doing. If an admin was there however and did indeed do something because of hacking, it would have been a perm ban.

And I don't like SMAC, way too much overhead and if people want to cheat they'll find a way.

Unfortunately, none of those "methods" listed in SMAC thread works against nowdays private/paid hacks.

SMAC only protects against public cheats such as "Pubhook" or "Dry-aim", but those tools are already signed to VAC2 & VAC3, therefore SMAC is not needed anymore against them..

Also, this Anti-wallhack works only if there are model edits in the client's files, but obviously nobody adds third party .dll files to their game folders anymore..

Other than false positives, i dont think that SMAC would detect any real hacks on the servers..

Doctor,
You have put me, Bonekeep, Vulcan, and many others in a very uncomfortable position. We enjoy your company and enjoy playing with you. You seem to be a straight up nice guy. The problem is that you have already admitted to using something. The concern among many, and I do mean many, is that you have not turned off what you were using as you promised to do so. You are the ONLY one who can push back a hunter or a jockey every time. Or break a smoker's tongue by yourself. And the list goes on.
We included you in our small group of online friends and to be honest we feel that friendship has been taken advantage of. But there have been just too many complaints not just from admins but lots of others about you. I don't know what you are using and I don't care. I don't know if anyone will ever be able to prove anything but we are not new to L4D2 and we are not new to playing video games. Some of us have been playing online for 15+ years and it becomes painfully obvious when someone is using an unfair advantage. What's odd is that you don't even need it. You are very good without it.
We just want the old Doctor back.

There were many instances last night where you showed impossible accuracy with a hunting rifle. I could be tucked neatly away hiding on the back side with chaos everywhere and you would be the farthest survivor away and least likely to get me but yet get me with a single shot. The most unbeleivable shot was the finally of The Passing where I was crouching on the other side of a wall as a spitter, this has long been my favorite spot to wait for survivors to leave saferoom. The only times I have ever died there is when I stand up and they get me after several attempts with automatic weapons but you without even being able to see me jumped up with a hunting rifle and killed me with the first shot. I could see if you had jumped up to see where I was then jumped up taking a few shots before getting me but I could not be seen before jumping and you were one jump one shot kill, just too good without some kind of assisstance. No hard feelings, I always want you on my team but if you have hacks please turn them off.

Ive called him out a couple times ingame for his hacks. His gf Zsoka usually jumps right to his aid tho...

People,, when you've been in the online game scene for awhile, you develop an eye for things. The smoothness of the player actually guiding a mouse,, the way he moves an where he shoots. Its just obvious SOMETIMES. IMO, its obvious with this guy,, an a few others. Now dont get me wrong,,, my assumption here COULD in fact be inaccurate, but I doubt it.

When you cant pounce a guy from the rear or when he's a hunter and EVERY single jump is perfectly at their victim NO MATTER WHAT(prolly a hack) , An example,, Syco makes me wonder when he is a hunter. It seems like hes just smashing on the buttons jumping around so fast, but yet, I'll be damned if he always hits his target. Is he hacking,, honestly, I'm not sure.

I rag on Dr pretty regularly tho, IMO,, he's a hacking, teamswitching douch.
Still waiting for his online gf Zsoka to rush to his defense again:couch:

--edit--
my comments on Syco arent accusations. He has a sign or two and very possibly could just be that good. I used him as an example,, of things to watch for. Dr seemingly had ALL the signs,, IMHO

Most probably Doctor is just using modified interpolation settings (like me).

As some people might know, there's a difference between the avatar of the SI coming at you (e.g. a Hunter) and its hitbox. The hitbox is what you have to shoot at/meele to deadstop. With default settings (and depending on your ping), the hitbox e.g. for a pouncing hunter is in front of the Hunter. To be able to deadstop him, you'll have to meele him before the avatar is even close to you (search for hitbox l4d2 on youtube to see this in action).

However, if you lower your lerp (interpolation value) from the default of 100ms to say 67ms, what happens is that the Hunter avatar gets closer to its own hitbox, thus making it easier for survivors to figure out the right moment to deadstop the Hunter (or Jockey).
This does NOT affect the actual hit detection, which is handled on the server independent of any client settings. It just changes what you see to something that actually makes more sense.

It's not quite clear if the lerp also affects your performance as infected. People suggest that you want to use higher lerp settings as infected (it's possible to change this at every round change, but thats lame, some servers even broadcast player's lerp changes or kick people for doing that). However that has only been proven true for Tanks (lerps of 100ms+ are abused to hit pretty much anything as Tank, it's called "long arms" and some servers block lerps > 100ms for that reason).

//Edit: just to be clear, this is not some kind of hack. This is just about changing some of the games (crappy) default settings to something that makes more sense. See this link to read more about lerp and this for a pretty good config.

interp tweaks on a game like l4d2... people must really lack confidence if they resort to tweaking their settings like that in this kind of game

Just watch this vid and tell me that's how a game should work with default settings. :P

Sycos message was informative, but it doesnt touch my point of how Dr and a few others are very difficult to jockey/pounce from behind(not to mention when he's a survivor). Its an automelee hack/option with their hack package. If I had to guess what he's using(if in fact he is because we dont know for sure an prolly never will without proof positive demo or confession), I'd guess artificial aiming.

I've been an admin on multiple games and servers. Studied many hack videos over the years. Everything I've said is my opinion from my own experiences. Maybe I'm way off, maybe I'm not.

interp settings never work alone, they depend on your rates, and in the game, there are many more factors:
1. latency
2. fps
3. vision

I really only play l4d2 for fun because that's all there is to it, i'd understand pushing tweaking as far as to change the interpolation value if you were in a competitive match for a tournament or something, in an actual FPS game like counterstrike, where you have small serious matches, not on a 10 vs 10 zombie surviving server lol. I've played around with client settings on the old hl engine when i used to play knife matches in cs 1.6, when most of the times you were 1 vs 1 and interp actually made a big difference

Anyway.......... no banning no kicking based on assumptions for now, need a demo that shows something so we can properly see what's going on

That's right - while playing on US with 150-200ms ping, I can pretty much shove all my tuning up my ass. =)
However, on EU where my ping is great, it does make a difference for me.
BTW: VI is pretty much what I would call a competitive match. :P

haha here this is what we used to do. furzi was a friend of mine, we used to play on gna's private server most of the time for high level knife matches, ground and acer.

That's when changing client side settings makes a difference lol

Well, its painfully obvious that there is nothing I can do to prove I am not using any 3rd party advantages. Lerp tweaking is well within VAC boundaries, and as a matter of fact you cannot play with over 66.7 lerp in confogl and other competitive configs. The only unethical settings on lerps are over 100ms, which you can abuse as a tank. And I have never played over 66.7 on this server.

Syco's post was spot on, its net code optimization which anyone can do so if they wish.
Here is more about lerp: http://www.l4dnation.com/general-discussion/lerp-guide-v2-3-4c/
I wished everyone did this, it would make my job a lot easier.

You guys act like I have a 100% success rate on hunter dead stop, which is a complete bullshit. Its very difficult on EU servers due to the lag and I get pounced on a lot, and on VI server I'll have a 80% success rate on a good night. Here is a tip, don't go for high leaping pounce, they are easier to stop.

And I am using this config: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2080074 VAC Approved.

Go right ahead and use it, its publicly available. Its funny that on a modded server people bitch about a little client side tweaks no?

And as for my SI location awareness, its call a decent headset. This is my current one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826158092

It has 5.1 virtual surround sound, this game will reward you for having a good sound system. I can pin point with 60-70% accuracy where the SI is spawning in. If that doesn't float your boat then get a grip, and stop being predictable with the spawning locations. I know where most of the survivors are and where their line of sight are spawn blocking, so I always keep an eye on "available spawn spots" This is why I can flick shot boomers quickly, you guys should try it sometimes.

I am also using a high DPI mouse: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826146014
Which does makes a different in aiming and smoothness of the mouse tracking.

And don't make this about hardware advantage bullshit, then you might as well kick people for have a highend GFX (good fps) with a 120 Hertz monitor.

And about Highvoltage claims; you need to spec more buddy. Please spend a weekend or two on this site: http://www.l4d2tv.net/
Check out the VOD section. These are players far better and infinity superior than me, you need to witness what they can do, sky is the limit on what you can do in the source engine. On second though, just spec this guy, http://www.youtube.com/user/IcyInferno206/videos?query=[L4D2}

And just out of curiousness, why is the very admin who kicked me hasn't replied yet? I think after all this time you at least owe me the courtesy to deal with me face to face. That is all.

About that hunter dead stop.. It's not quite hard to do it even without any tweaks, but surely nobody is able to do it block hunters 100% sure, but 50-70% is quite normal for an experienced player.. Human can memorize the exact moment after playing a while, and when same pattern repeats endless times, you are most likely able to counter it.. ..Surely this is even easier with good gaming gear and ridicilous client tweakings..

I dont know the situation myself as i dont tend to play alot in VI, but just saying that the hunter dead stop is not even close to impossible..

But obviously that hitbox thing what you saw in the video, is blocked at every servers, as you need "sv_cheats 1" for it to work..

I have done nothing but deal with you face to face for several months now. I've told you time and again to stop using whatever shit you're using. I threatened a ban one night very seriously and you "turned it off"... the difference was quite noticeable. But then the servers were reset and you couldn't resist go back to your old ways. It's amazing how some players are so driven to be at the top of meaningless shit stats board. I have repeatedly asked you stop the hacks and stop the stats farming that you do. I have given you way more leeway than I should have because you're a friend... a friend who has put all of us VI admins in bad positions as time and again others on the servers rightfully complain about you. I personally find it pathetic that anyone feels like they need to gain a competitive advantage in any way, VAC approved or otherwise. Fucking pathetic.

Certainly there are differences in connection speed, hardware, etc. But none of those make for the consistent, high degree of accuracy and success that you've exhibited. I've watched you put your gun away when a hunter or jockey is coming towards you from far enough where you could shoot them down, and you just wait there with your melee weapon... as if knowing that you will with certainty be able to stop them, and you did. You're not playing fair, and it's painfully evident to anyone that watches. The fact that it bothers me to spec a friend and try to prove that they are cheating as the reason that I haven't made a demo or looked to make a perm ban, is what you've been taking advantage of for a while now. Just your farming alone is reason for a good long ban by itself.

The objective of the game should be to keep things as close to a level playing field as possible. When someone is clearly at a ridiculous competitive advantage... unacceptably high rate of one shot kills, impossible melee blocks of attacks from behind, such a high rate of success blocking pounces and jockey attacks that they feel no need to shoot, etc., something not right is going on and for sure is not making for a fun, level game.

This whole conversation is ridiculous given your recent track record. And when finally I decide to make it clear that we're serious when we tell you that enough is enough with only a kick - mind you not a perm ban, not even a short ban - you feel the need to come and protest. After all the bullshit everyone in VI has put up with you using your hacks? And what is it that you say in protest? You say we can't prove it and challenge us to prove it... the words of a fair gamer that's been unjustly treated I'm sure. This is a team game for fun, but it's not fun to play with you or against you anymore Doctor. There was a time that I would have tossed your name in for the next VI admin, but then you had to go this route, had to use tweaks and cheats to make yourself feel like a top player, to be at the top of the leaderboard. Retarded.
