Nah, hes still in the developement team (for now) He just told that hes leaving asap when he can. But yeah, nice cashout.
According to him (twitter) he will be on site until like end of the year. Then, when he is not a critical part of develpment he will return to New Zealand and work from there.
They claim to have 50 fte on that game which is clearly a lie if you take a look at all these minor updates last few months. It looks like the work of 1 or 2 devs and maybe one map designer but that's about it. So yeah nice hit & run, they made about $36M. I'm sure Rocket earned at least a couple of million bucks on the SA alone. Rocket claims the game will go beta Q1 2015 and final Q2/3 same year, lol.
Nice work if you can get it. DayZ is great but buggy. Games like Rust will probably end up taking its crown, and sooner or later a big-name dev/publisher (think Bethesda/Activision/Ubisoft) will make an open-world zombie game. It's a shame. I hope DayZ turns out okay, but it's not looking as good as it should.
