Hey all, I'm writing this from my phone, so I can't type much. To sum it up my computer won't turn on. I don't know much about computers so I thought it leave it up to all of you guys. As you can see in the picture below the light turns on (top left corner, orange light) on the computer but nothing else turns on. I know has power because light turns on, and everything seems to be connected correctly. Any suggestions on what might be wrong and how to fix that? Oh and it worked fine earlier I just turned it off and unplugged it move it and when I tried to turn on again after moving it wouldn't turn on. Any ideas? Thanks. View attachment 1772

PSU or motherboard fails to work/work correctly/provide enough power for the system. (i assume).

I see your problem, the bold letters saying "DELL".

Try with new PSU and make sure it has enough watts :P

Mostly all power related issues are due PSU failures..

If you dont have a spare PSU, try to find a friend that has, or bring the computer to a random repair store, and they will find the issue in minutes.

Do the paperclip test on your PSU:

Q: How can I test my power supply?

A: You can easily test a power supply for functionality with a simple paperclip. First, disconnect all the cables from your motherboard and other devices, but leave the power supply plugged into the wall. Next, bend the paperclip until you have a U shape. Find the 24-pin ATX connector and plug one part of the paperclip into the socket where the green wire ends, and the other end into the socket where a black wire ends. Make sure the power switch on the back of the PSU is on, (should be the I symbol) and the fan should spin up. If it doesn

Google the dell model # and the problem. It might be a common failure.
If the PSU works, but it wont even get to POST I'd suspect the motherboard.

    Hey Choralation
It maybe your monitor, as its hard to tell with quiet computers how far they are
along the boot prossess so I would suggest, if you dont have a seconed or old
monitor hanging about to either borrow one or as Marvel said take it to a small
computer shop, as they should not charge you just to check this.

Im not taking the piss when I ask this but did you check the fuses in the plug for
the monitor? as you may have had a small power surge when you unplugged to
    move it.

best to find out whats wrong with your pc.

if you dont hear your fans go on when pressing the power button, it could mean maybe that your power button wire got lose from the motherboard. try checking this cable first.

if you do hear your fans go on when pressing the power button, this means your powersupply and powerbutton are ok.
so you move to the next step. which is listening to the beeps of your computer.
if you hear 1 quick beep, it means it starts up normaly.
2 beeps could mean an error with finding your Harddisc. if you hear 3 beeps its mostly a memory issue

When I press the power button when everything is plugged in, nothing happens. No fan turns on or anything. But I did the paperclip test and it worked fine. Hmm.m........ a problem I have now is I don't remember what is plugged into what on the computer. :\ What cable should I be checking?

open your front panel and follow the cable from your power button.

mostly is says Power SW on the end of the cable.

believe its a green label on the end of the cable
and on the motherboard you will notice where to plug it into

Take out the RAM sticks, dust them if they're dusty and put them back in.

Multiple times my computer didn't turn on, and all I had to do was take the RAM out and put it back in. :|

i've helped him get it working till he could see something on the monitor.

now he gets no boot device found.

i think his motherboard is screwed up. because his videocard wasn't working either nor is his HD being found by the bios.
his onnoard videocard luckely worked to show us this :)

I say is the motherboard, ill do as marvel said, get a spare motherboard and give it a try, or go the other way... take your motherboard to someone else's computer and give it a try...
If you started having gpu problems, and now its not even turning on without beeps, it might be the motherboard...:smiley-signs038:
Normally memory related problems beep and sometimes the computer even start booting and shows an error, since thats not your case, ill say its motherboard related...:smiley-signs015::smiley-signs015:

I agree it's probably the motherboard. The first computer I built had similar problems and it turned out to be the motherboard (along with some other things). My first computer build had Mobo, PSU, and HDD problems so I know the feeling. I just built a new computer last week and everything went smoothly this time though. :)
