votekick of 'revenge'?

I witnessed a votekick this evening on the EU coop which i thought was... well, just silly. I'm curious as to the rules of votekicking if any?

The context was rooftop of no mercy. We got smooshed/sent flying by a paranoid tank, and the ominous 'you must try again' music came on. A player (lvl 81)wrote 'stupid idiots'.

So we start over and fight our way to the roof, but 2-3 guys are having a hard time getting up the ladder after others have already jumped down to the rooftop. After what seemed a very short time, the same player mentioned before calls a vote kick on one of the guys (lvl 104) as he's climbing out (this player had not taken part in the previous paranoid tank battle). The vote fails, despite 4 people automatically F1ing without really considering what was going on. A very brief 2-3 line argument followed, no biggy, we get on with it, doing well.

As the helicopter approaches to take us away, same person calls votekick on the same player as before, and it succeeds, barely. I imagine in the heat of the battle, people were just hitting F1 to get the vote window out of the way. so as credits roll, i point out that it was a fairly childish thing to do, and get a response of 'dont f**k with me'. Unfortunately the player left right after, so we couldn't discuss my having 'f**ked with him'.

I understand that he was apparently angry at the entire teams inability to save him or something from the first failed attempt with the paranoid tank. But to try to take that anger out on a random person, in form of votekick was strange. Then to do it again later just before successful completion of the map, is just silly. perhaps bordering on abuse?

The only rule i've found is about spamming votes, so im wondering about these rare instances when someones irrationality gets the better of them. This being a high adrenaline game and all.

 

Mic / Chat / Vote Spamming.

Excessive mic, chat and/or vote spamming with the sole & only purpose of trying to ruin the game for other players will result in an immediate kick and temporary ban.​

Repeated Minor Offences.

If you keep repeating minor offenses we will count them up until it becomes a major offenses which may result in additional ban time.

This is completely inappropriate for someone to do. If you can, would you please message me or another admin with the names of the people who were involved? Also, the best thing to do in this situation is to take a demo of this event so we can watch it and determine what the appropriate actions should be.

 

Is there an easy way to start a demo?

 

type "record [title of demo]" in console, then type 'stop' to stop recording.

For example:
*open console* and type:
record farmers farming

 

i never knew this... thx, thought u would always have to have fraps or something but wen u record how/where do u get the file?

 

you find it in your left4dead2 folder....under your name and the ending ".dem"

to play it start your game and type in console "playdemo xxx.dem" without the ""

you think that's weird...someone tried to pull that on me because i got the full luck toaster.(Yes just as he saw i won the high lottery he tried to votekick me).I think it was zombieeater or something like that.Luckily an admin was there (prob. Cocaine) and quickly banned him.You never know what kind of person you're playing with.

Well a couple days ago he tried to vote out another guy. This time apparently because he had incaped someone with a molo, and lost some points. He tried to kick his victim twice, both times all votes were F2. the reasoning was again silly, 'stay out of my way' or something. Got demos of the second kick attempt. It took me a while to post because i had to find to find a way to reduce the size of the demo, and havent been around for a bit. I'm beginning to think he might only be 14 or so.

I have been votekicked twice by the same person because he kept spamming fire everywhere and i just so happened to get downed in one of them, he then proceeded to votekick me and gave a bs reason to everyone as to why. When i came back he immediately did it again, the REAL sad thing is, i had to change my id so he would stop and i am forced to play with this a-hole just about every time im playing.

 

was the guy who tried to kick him named Shot by any chance, that's who did it to me

 

aw i was keeping his name a secret lol ya thats the guy. my story and demos are of his voting on you a few days ago. He's got some issues. He said, 'I lost 200 points because of you'... as justification.... instead of saying 'sorry'

what bugs a little to, was that MG Cocaine had just disconnected 1 minute before he started his voting
