US server discontinued (for now)

    I'm sorry to inform you that our host provider has discontinued our new US server because of the large scale DDoS attacks that server recieved the entire last week.

    Unfortunately they are not willing to provide any service whatsoever and rather cut off paying customers because of an attack which we didn't even start let alone provoked.

    Meanwhile we will be looking for an alternative, which can take some time.

    I'm truly sorry for this, but I assure you that we'll be back online asap. This happened to us before and it's just something we (and other game communities as well) have to deal with every now and then.

    Not much we can do but smile and go on :)

    do we know who's doing this? other rivals? pissed off banned player? let me know I know many people who can DDos them back

    We found his IP: 79.118.185.94

    He's from romainia but I don't know his exact location. He's been bothering us for years now.

    Whoever bothers to do these ddos attacks must be mental, so much effort just to cause annoyance.

    actually one just need a server and script and the DDos can be as long as a lifetime lol but ya they probably have mental issues LOL

    let me make inquries with some people with those IP address

    update : had some quick respond from a couple of guys, one from UK and Turkey - those address are known IP address that are online/website/hikackers scammers and etc ... LOL and Romania is one of those places that are considered safe havens for this types of behaviors (I guess Russia isn't number 1 on the list anymore)

    another wants to know who will benefit with DDos attacks of our server? he like me suspect it's probably one of the competition ... and it's easy enough to rent a cheap server this days (hey could be wrong! lol) and I eliminate DDos for hire since renting someone can cost big money $$$$$ it's cheaper to rent a server than rent someone else to do it for you lol (trust me on the cost shhh keep quiet LOL) and no it's not me ....

    I really hope this gets cleared up soon. VI takes up a considerable portion of my life and I want to keep it that way. I like EU VI just as much but there needs to be an option. Thanks Marvel, I have confidence you are handling this.

    Because there's no point in renting another server when it goes down 5 minutes after we start it. We need a permanent solution.

    Chicago is back online for now guys, however it will expire August 2nd though but we will announce a more permanent solution soon.

    whats the difference in the Singapore Servers that the EU and USA dont have? diff firewall setup?

    can't wait for less ddos attack, my bitch slap dont work !!! lol

    anyway have you guys reported the romanian guy to steam for a global ban? sure it's not his only account but hey it's one less account for him LOL

    Singapore was under ddos as well. All locations were. It's hard to proof such a thing, it's mostly zombie pcs doing the attacks.

    It also depends on the host provider how they respond to the attack, some null route, some filter, some don't do anything. Like in Amsterdam, there's so much bandwidth over there, if you get a 2 gbps ddos nobody cares, it means like a 0.2% traffic increase for them (http://www.ams-ix.net/statistics/). In Singapore it might be different though, they may have much less bandwidth, especially international bandwidth so they are probably more eager to filter the bad stuff out and keep the line open.
