Unable to connect to any MGFTW server

I'm having a bit of trouble connecting to the Vicious Infected EU server since yesterday. I just get a "Connection failed after 10 retries" error, but I've been able to join a few other servers without any issue

So far, I've tried the following
    • Restarting my PC
    • Verifying game cache files
    • Re-installing the game from a backup (the same L4D2 backup I've been using, without issue, for a few months now)

I've been trying to connect by joining through a friend and the Game Info panel has all the usual server-specific info (and, considering that the server's full, it's just me that's affected), so I'm assuming I can communicate with the server to a certain degree, but all attempts at joining result in failure.
The console doesn't appear to have any useful info either, it's just
    10 times over :\

Any thoughts on what could be causing this and/or how to resolve it? I need my fix of L4D2 soon!

    EDIT: Clarified some things

    Our ip's have changed recently.

you can find new ip's from: https://mgftw.com/sourcebans/index.php?p=servers

or click directly to this link:

For example, Vicious infected EU: steam://connect/213.247.35.35:27015/ currently 20/20 as we speak.

That's the IP I've been trying to connect to (as I was attempting to join through Seeker Sheol, who's ingame now :p). I've only been using the site's Steam links for the other servers (which weren't getting any server info at all, so I assumed they were outdated) - I probably should've clarified that sooner in my original post :p

I just tested Points Reloaded COOP EU and it connects just fine, although I wasn't able to test PR VS because the server is full right now. So, it would seem that VI is the only thing I'm having problems with... maybe it's the game's way of saying I need to stop playing!

Wierd for you to have problems with just that IP. EU VS and EU coop are in same location.. something might block that specific ip? try to disable firewall..

I'd try to capture the network traffic between you and the server (with Wireshark or something like that, filter: "ip.addr==213.247.35.35"). Maybe that'll give you a clue about what might cause this problem (you could post the capture results here if you can't find anything).

Any recent changes on your side? New Router, Software Firewall or anything like that?

Only marvel knows about physical changes done to servers :P

I was talking about changes on Flares side - but now that you mentioned it, maybe marvel was trying to do something against the DDoS and got a false positive on Flare. Kinda weird tho that the server info window is still working (it sends UDP packets to port 27015, which is the same port shown in Flares console :|).

Here's the details from a join attempt

The only things that I have installed recently (according to Control Panel) were the Games for Windows Live redistributable and Path of Exile. It seems unlikely that they'd be the source of the problem :o Nothing has changed with regard to hardware.

Weird. I've compared that to my own join traffic. You're sending a UDP packet with "connect" in it. In my case, the server sends a packet with "connect" back, and then player data and stuff is sent. However the server never responds with "connect" in your case, just 10 connect packets from you to the server.
What's also weird is that there's something about the Helms Deep server in your dump (I don't have anything like that in mine). Helms Deep is hosted on the same server (different port, 27016 instead of 27015). That could just be a server info window opened in the background, but maybe it's got something to do with the problem. Did you specify the port (27015) when you tried to join?

    Other things you could try:

    • Disable any Software Firewalls (Windows Firewall, ...) on your PC.
    • Set up the following port forwardings to your PC on your router (UPnP could be failing):
      27000-27020 (UDP)
      27020-27050 (TCP)

I used the Steam link that Stefeman provided, so the port should have been specified.

I've tried disabling software firewall and forwarding ports (at least, I think I have it done correctly) but the connection still fails. I'll just play on PR for the moment, I guess

Just a quick update: I've been able to join VI EU again since last night. I don't think I changed anything so I have no idea of what fixed the problem. At least I can play the game again, which is all I'm worried about :p

However, I want to say thanks for the assistance provided.

I was going to PM you about this earlier to check if you could connect.

It was some server issues but they have been sorted. Thanks for bearing with us :)
