Hey guys, I'm new here! :D Thnx for this great mod, I have rediscovered L4D becoz of it, in the past I used to play it only with friends, but the new rpg elements are great!!!

Anyway, not sure if it's ok to ask this here, but steam forums are down and I thought someone here might help me.

I was doing some customization to make l4d2 work more smoothly on my pc, but somehow I activated some function and now I get all dialogue in the center of the screen, it's quite distracting. See screenshot. How do I get rid of the dialogue the arrow points to?

    Options > Audio > Captioning.

Turn it off and it'll be fine. :)

Using caption really helps you as a survivor to know if there is a SI close to you because if you do miss the sound of a SI then you will also see the SI name in the caption ..

Yeah it's always on exactly because of what raised said. It's quite an advantage sometimes.

Thanks Popshotz, that did the trick. And I went looking through one gigantic list of all cvars all day. I feel like such a noob.

And even though the captions can sometimes give you an indication of what's going on, at some point I forget to look at the bigger screen and just follow those captions, which is really a shame with such a visually carnal game. Also, even though you read there is a SI around, you can't see which direction it is at, while listening to the sounds can help you avoid them or find them if you want to save someone or something.

Anyway, if I miss it I can always enable it again, now that I know where to look! :D

the "direction" of the soun d you here tells you where they are. :) idunno, helped me a lot on a normal l4d2 game. lol on MG there are too many sounds so yeah, captions. :)
