PR-CO / Extreme COOP ideas for alluring new players/gamers.

    We've all seen level-restrictive stuff, guilds, level requirements, blah blah blah...


    ...but what about something to keep our new gamers from being discouraged / having a fighting chance in our COOP servers...

    WITHOUT having to keep "increasing" everything for everyone else?

    I have some ideas.

    Level Restrictive Buffs (Auto-Equipped / built-in,) that for example, drop off at level 51, 101, etc.

    A couple:

    1.) "Arms Dealer" - Like using a knife (on ur mouse,) or handing someone Pills, "sell" or "distribute" throwables for bounty. Ceases to work after set level.

    2.) "Knife Collector" - a way for a fledgling gamer to "earn" an extra knife once per round, in COOP, automatically goes away (the ability) after a certain level.

    I notice that, no matter how good we do as a team, the newbies are still very discouraged, even if defibbed a lot.

    Perhaps we could put one or two small nuances into the PR system in their favor?

    It's good for MG, and it's in the spirit of keeping people exposed to us (regularly.)

    I like the suggestions.

    I'm a level 99 myself and it's HARD (even with all my expertise gained in the game :P).

    What about a new gamemode... "Protect the low levels!"
    In this gamemode players on a team must protect a low level. The low level is sort of assisted through the map. Massive rewards for helping the low level complete a map. Using Erik's idea for Arms Dealer players could distribute throwables to the low level player.

    A whole survival map could be based on the premise of this idea. You are given a person to remain within 200 units from. That player is your buddy. Any distance outside of that you will incur HP loss. Your buddy must navigate together fighting off zombies. You and your buddy can Arms Deal only to each other - any other player you Arms Deal across will not be recognized. For the end part, you and your buddy must pick up gascans to fuel a vehicle all whilst being within distance.

    Where's luke and crazyrabbit? I think I have a good idea here!

    I had an idea myself (spent a couple hundred hours in l4d2 authoring tools / hammer, etc.,) for a "mission" style campaign.

    - Objectives
    - Items to get (like a quest)
    - Targets

    ...storyline as much as it'll allow to be authored/used.

    The big question remains...

    ---- We all want maps, rotations of campaigns, etc. ----

    But, are we giong to have to download them first and install .vpk's? Or, can they load as we join the server?

    Can another admin answer this w/ some details, please? Thanks! We'd all benefit.

    Stefeman did a random 2x booster drop (represented by TV icons / quest items) one day when he was in coop.

    In the same spirit, perhaps do a 2 or 3 account-drop of the Donor/Prem Acct.?

    I'm not sure how the logistics would work out to activate it, but come on, it's an essential product that is under-recognized.

    Another: "most..." recognition.

    - Killed the most infected
    - Did the most damage to the tank
    - Blah blah blah...

    A cool little /hsay that encourages players on a head shot spree or something would be sweet! Or, a ticker for a kill spree. Just random ideas, not sure if they're viable or not yet lol.

    It would be a good idea for a buff/skill called " Friend Help " (available only for +200 lvl players)

    And when a +200 lvl player has the buff and is near a low level player , let's say up to level 50 , his health will slowly increase.. (5HP / 10 seconds)

    This should work at a range of 200 for example :)

    (just an idea)

    That was a small "find the booster" event from months ago. :P

    I made it because we just recovered from downtime back then, so i figured out that it was good way to compensate.

    I am creating a referral system. You can generate a unique referral id for yourself (e.g. mgftw.com/rf/?i=1234), and any new player who clicks on that link and joins PR will be tagged on your account. The following can change (it'll be a root settable cvar), but for every exp/point the referred member earns, you will earn 1/5. That may not seem like a lot, but consider this: you refer 10 people, and 1/5 * 10 is 5 EXP/points (if each of the 10 earn 1 point and 1 EXP) without even doing anything yourself. You'll be earning points/exp in your sleep :P

    Hehe, it doesn't end there. There might be some very special referral based buffs and skills (for which I am lacking ideas atm), which is earned by referring many people or something. Also, if the referred player reaches PR milestones (i.e.level 50, level 100, etc), you automatically earn small bonus prizes like a vending machine or something.

    So think about who you want to refer ;)

    i would like to say i am a toaster addict (those who know me know that, lol), they are a really fun part of the game.
    what about toasters that only low levels can pick up? a special colour so we know, and we can be like hey, lower level dude, get over here and get this? they could also give the noob maybe like an invincible power for a 10 sec. rush, to help them through the map or stay with the pack, to help give them a better chance? toaster's only they can pick up might make lower levels stay/have a bigger part in gameplay.

    i like the protect the lower level idea, like having a fireteam partner, you have to get them him/her to the saferoom, with crazy rewards!
    good ideas in this thread, i just had this toaster idea and thought i'd throw it out there!

    I have an idea:

    If a high level player with the moustachio skill heals a low level player, that player inherits the same level of moustachio and is temporarily invincible. High level players could sacrifice their medkits at the beginning of the chapter to help low level players get through spit/fire.

    I think this is the best idea I have seen on this thread so far. I think it could be called something like "Inspirational Leadership" or simply "Mentor".
