No Mercy elevator glitch - clarification once and for all

So here it goes:

About 20 mins ago i was playing No mercy on PR VS. All nice and fine. We get to the level where you have to take the elevator to the roof. I am a main as a survivor, Chocobo is on my team, Auuthentic is on the other as a SI. All nice and dandy till we start the elevator. 3 of our mains were there, myself included, cookie monster and a few more. Well what do you know, as the elevator goes up, a burning spiter falls through the ceiling and starts swinging around. As a result half of our team falls through. Cool, no problem, i tell them payback is coming. Authentic does not say a word..not yet

fast forward it to the next round when we are SI. As promised, i take a jockey and do the same thing at the elevator. Fall through and jockey ride a Survivor. Result? about 4 fall through the floor. what comes next is the fun part.

Authentic : i saw that smoke, i was spectating.
Me: hey, it's just payback

Anyway, i might get banned for this - the bug exploit, but as long as the other team does not have the decency not to exploit known bugs (like the one on No mercy) i will do the same.

What is the official position of the admins about the No Mercy campaign elevator bug?What are the repercussions faced by a player that exploits that bug? If i get banned, at least i know the reason upfront

 

I did not say anything at first because I saw the msg of you saying you were going to use a boomer and make them fall off the elevator and telling them not to whine. So after I saw that you were going to do an exploit, I went to spectator hoping you weren't stupid enough to actually do the bug exploit while there were 1 admin and 1 trial there.

I was trying to ask chocobo is that was consider a bug abuse as I had no idea what you were talking about. But he didnt reply so I quietly wait for the elevator part. To my surprise you actually did the exploit. I said I saw that Smoke, But your excuse of doing the bug is because my team did it. I couldn't see if anyone on my team did it earlier as I was already at the top. But you said that our team did the exploit so thats why you did it. The question is, if someone on my team did it why didn't you inform one of the admins? But instead took action bof your own and use the exploit. If someone on my team actually did it, you or chocobo should of said something about it... as I saw no msg about it after your team made it to the saferoom.

 

i dont find it an exploit.. the lift is bug..

you just fall for many reason..

you can be standing still and still fall.
you heal up and still fall.
you shoot the floor and still fall.
you move around and still fall..
a jockey scratch you and you still fall.

so many reasons.. im ok with this personally.. not sure about other admins..

 

That is true however, he was a jockey on "top" of the elevator. Aims at a survior and hops on him(Phasing through the top of the elevator) and somehow is "in" the elevator. Then makes whoever he hop on to falls through "under" the elevator.

fyi, if your spitter.. u just need to aim well and spit all the way from the top floor and they will still fall.

and i read this bug cannot be fixed as the lift was not meant to have 10 person or something.. read it somewhere..

 

Ya the elevator is buggy cause it wasnt meant to hold this many players, however the situation right now is. Someone knows this bug and is doing it on purpose. If it was an accidental, then fine, I understand just don't do it again. However if someone at the beginning of the round has set their mind into doing this, then I think something needs to be done.

 

well, our game is expanding, thus more bugs will come and more improvement need to be done..

but adding more rule to something that is already known many months back and something that cannot be fixed is kinda heavy on players..

im used to this bug.. and always just lol at it even when atleast 5 of my team mates are still alive in the lift and fall for no reason..

are we gonna ban this particular map then? like how we previously exclude all four chapters of swamp fever except for its finale in our map rotation..

 

Well I'm not an admin but here's my 2c..

I think using this bug to your advantage is not an exploit but strategy.. I mean the survivors love to throw molotovs outside the lift so if you manage to get your invisible jockey in, and hump at the right time and kill a bunch of survivors.. Good strategy.

if he phase through, it a bug, and you need to report it to our bug tracker..

or if you saying he hes hoping survivor from on top of the lift by way of bug i think.. also report it to bug tracker.

 

Ask chocobo, ask cookie monster, ask anyone on the survivor team. Didn't you find it odd that for some reason 4 survivors just died all of a sudden? a spiter intentionally fell through the elevator ceiling. The only place it could have come was from above. so if you say you were there, it's kinda hard not to notice a burning spiter..no offence intended

 

Ya he spawn on top of the elevator as a jockey. Then the Circle aimed at a survior inside the elevator then somehow was able to hump the survior and make them fall through.

Theres not enterance on the top of the elevator. So there was and he jumped in then im fine with that. However its not that.

 

from what smokke stated.. yes have seen spitter went into the lift before from on top of the lift.. but i was ok with it.. killed it and did not fell for some unknown reason.. its just glitchy i guess.

as for jockey being able to hump a survivor from on top of the lift is a first time for me..
always seen one inside the lift..

its a bug i think.. just report it to bugtracker..
and to be sure, you can try it with other players if you can recreate what smokke did.. as sometimes its just glitchy and by luck he managed to do the impossible thing..

Just because I was on the infected team when this happen doesnt mean I can see all that happen. After I died as a spitter at the bottom of the elevator before you guys went up, I went to the top and respawned as an invis jockey. The problem right now is you know its a bug, doesnt matter who did it. You didn't inform an admin of this, but instead did the exact same thing.

 

Yes, i did it intentionally, just as your team's spitter did. I told over the mic since the round began that i will do it just because one of the SI did it the previous round.

And yes, i have done the same every time that map was on and the SI on that round did it. 10/10 elevator map i have played in the last 2 days, the ones on the SI team did it. 7/10 i asked if we will use the glitch or not and they have used it.

Furthermore, all do respect to MG, i will use the glitch as long as the other team does it. if a SI, tank included does get into the elevator and someone activates it, fine...it's our fault and i won't be using that excuse to do it next round. But if someone intentionally falls through, like they always do...all bets are off. Trying to be the better player and just let it slide off doesn't work here unfortunately....

We have saying in my country "Do not do to another something what you don't want done to yourself"

P.S: Like i have said, the spiter was burning and since there was no fire source upstairs, he came from downstairs where we have had thrown some molly's. A burning SI loses health constantly, and w/o a boomer with the buff to put it out, it will die...Hence, you cannot say he fell by mistake.

Yes he was and he said he can't jump to conclusion with it. However with you, its different. I was watching every move you made on the elevator. What else is there to say? Uhm. I know maybe the spitter did it on purpose, however just because one person is glitching, doesn't make it right that the next person glitches because the previous person did it. That means the next person that does this glitch can say "Well Smoke did, why can't I do it?" And it'll go on and on.

I thought that as a vetrean player like yourself, you should of known better then to do this because 1 person did it on the other team. Guess I was wrong.

 

Alright, I can see where this is going, and I'm going to break it up before it gets there. Authentic, smokke, I think you've both made your points concerning this particular incident clear, and these last few posts have made it evident that this argument is devolving into a cyclical one.

Concerning the elevator bug, we're talking it over in the admin section, and will let you all know what we decide upon when we have arrived at a decision. If this is fixable, we will fix it. Otherwise, we will need to see whether this is something that we allow or something that we punish for.

In the meantime, you can bring this, and other issues, to the roots attention more quickly using our Bug Tracker. It doesn't look like this one's been submitted yet.

 

What i have just said above about being the better player doesn't work?Let me show you something. check the attachment of this post.
He 2 is a veteran player, just like me.And you know what he said? that an admin showed him how to do it. There are a lot of veteran players that do this every time they have the chance. That exploit there is one sure way to get rid of some of the strong players that made it past the SI downstairs. Eliminating the strongest Survivors before they reach the top, is one way to either catch up on points you lost previous maps of the campaign or to ensure they don't get their points.

I am sorry, but i will never show courtesy to someone that doesn't show me the same, weather it is RL or gaming. I have spent way to many hours going up the ranking system just to have it ruined by someone who doesn't have the common sense to play it fair.

Trust me, whoever that spitter was did it on purpose. While climbing up in the elevator shaft, you cannot fall on top of it by accident. There are restictions on back and sides. you have to be spawned outside the exit door t be able to fall onto the ceiling.

MOD EDIT: I'm going to play benefit of the doubt here for this post. I'm guessing you were typing out this post when I posted mine meaning you didn't see it. For both you and Authentic, I would really like for this to stop now, you both have made your points VERY clear...

 

smokke, you were playing with 2 admins, so I doubt you'll be punished, and you're bringing the issue upfront admitting yourself. Taking action as an admin needs to be done live (just like during a sports match, if the referee sees it, it's good to be taken care of immediately, if he doesn't, then it passes).

When you see this happen, you need to report it immediately to all admins by using the the @ <message> feature to use the admin channel in-game. Admins don't and can't see everything.
Just like when you told me about that guy on the shed at hard rain. I couldn't see it since I was concentrating on the chat and with what null was telling me about main switching and you asked me about it after the round ended, I couldn't do much without seeing it and when I asked for consent on behalf of all players, nobody replied. I'm sure you understand.

Like Kitties said, I think the both of you (Auth and smokke) have made your points towards each other.

SO back on topic, it's a glitch in the map, and not on our mods I believe. It's not very fair but like Blue August said, it can be used to your advantage in a strategic approach.

Personally, I see the elevator as a rest zone, give the survivors a break after 15 minutes of waiting for 2 farmers or victims down below, and heck they can't even heal themselves because the last time I tried with you guys, two fell out of the floor... So I don't think I'd be very tolerable when they do this on purpose because in the end, it's still exploiting a bug in the map.

Why exploiting? because you're not supposed to go through solid floors or ceilings. And when it's not normal, but it can happen, and people make it happen on purpose, it's an exploit.
