missing symbols in in-game chat?

    for some reason i cannot see symbols in game... i used to be able to a couple weeks ago and i can't exactly remember when it started messing up... I can see them fine in the server info but when i am in game they do not work. SO far it seems like it happens in all source games. I have not been able to find any information on this, hoping someone might know :?

    Check your operating system's unicode settings and whether it is multibyte or not and the UTF setting that it's set to and post it here.

    I had same problem. I changed "language for non-unicode programs" to english (UK) and it seems to be working now.
