Melee Weapons - Which is Better? Finally... some proof and statistics...

There is a lot of argument and discussion as to whether (PR) Katana or Machete is best.

Many say that, on L4D1 maps where certain items don't spawn properly, the Crowbar is crappy, or the Tonfa is better; whatever.

I found a link to a page with some proper, literal and real statistics.

"Time to Kill a Tank"
"Rate of Fire"...

...are calculated with certainty.

You might be surprised which ones are the best or can do more damage (because of swing rate.)

What the hell?! The fucking Nightstick ist the best melee weapon. I hate that thing. Btw I think you should spawn the knife more often than just on HD.

 

I don't like the Tonfa either. CaptainObvious from Legit Guild was saying he loves that thing, too.

I think it's about how comfy. a certain gamer feels w/ a certain melee weapon. I personally can't get enough of using the golf club. Love it. Most hate it, though.

PS - Other things in that page can't be taken verbatim, like weapon damage.

A good example WHY is the Magnum; a while back, HC increased it's damage in PR-VS.

But, melee swing rates, etc., I don't believe were ever changed by Development.

Several days later... it appears a lot of people really enjoy the GolfClub after all. I love the damn thing.

I would love to see that in the !melee options for donors.

Zsoka and I were in-game earlier and it reminded me (Dark Carnival 1); I would love to make that Pink Flamingo plastic poolside thing a melee weapon. lmao. LEGEND said it's possible.

If THAT'S possible... then maybe one day PurplePuppet can literally swing a "Ban Hammer" around.

I'm still down for the Combat Knift + Riot Shield.

Did some goofing around in the "non-machete/katana/golfclub" maps (Crash Course, etc.) and tried the Tonfa. It's a different weapon but DAMN you can get a LOT of "Protected Teammate - 1 Bounty Earned" bounty.

I dont'seem to be able to get the "Headshot Spree - 4 Bounty Earned" with this, whereas I WOULD with the golf club.

I think it's about how you aim your hitbox at the infected/commons when you melee them.

Yeah lol pink flamingo as a melee weapon is entirely possible. If there are any coder lurkers around here, using Stripper:Source change the model name of tonfas to the pink flamingo's model name but keep everything else the same.

I saw a tank gun plugin where the tank could pick up guns and shoot them! If that's possible then this certainly is.

The riot shield serves no purpose other than to shove infected out of the way Valve are releasing the Steam Workshop and I'm surprised there's no hype for it on here. Possibility to create your own melee weapons and share them and much more. There's so much that Valve are doing now to make sure that L4D2 remains standing - I think it's mainly down to new fierce competitors within the industry. Get hyped for the steam workshop.

 

Dude I've been hovering around that guy's steam workshop l4d2 / beta page... nothing yet.

IDK about Tank Guns... but I love the effects you put in... the rocks and stuff. Very cool.

Sucks about the Riot Shield - I was thinking "oh god, Jockey in COOP... RIOT SHIELD."

Melee weapons I'd make:
Pink Flamingo, 10 Foot Pole, Ban Hammer, Mannequin Limb (dead center mall,) and Hammer (regular hammer lol)
