i see alot of comments/in-game acts against low level tanks, noobs are going to get tanks. in the upgrade coming a level 50 under cannot pass the tank, is that correct? there are going to be so many angry people all the time, we need to accept it or find ways to make it playable. alot of people will not like this idea, but it open's new ways of dealing with this drama issue. the high levels can rape a tank easily these days(i still get rocked all the time, lol), if the low levels cannot pass, maybe the high level survivor, say 100 and up, cannot melee that tank? there melee "breaks" if they use it on a level 50 and under tank. the low level noob tank will stay alive longer, and help the team out more, the survivors will not rape the tank in 5 sec, which would get dull after a while. it may bring a little balance to this issue. ya sum of us are maxed and spent alot on our melee skills and stuff but raping these noob tanks will get boring, this just mixes things up a bit, it works for both sides, noob tanks get a better chance and more gameplay, survivors won't rape that tank too easily, cause when the round flips, maybe we won't want pro's raping our tank in 5 sec. they have to shoot it to death and that takes longer, more time to back-up the noob tank. this might get people to work with the low levels more/teach them and there would be less votekicks and rage quits. just a suggestion, let me know what you think, or your ideas, on this noob tank issue. pls be nice, lol
I got so many angry and/or upset Steam messages from lots of people lol, so I undid that. Anyone can pass the tank, but forcing someone and/or votekicking someone with respect to a low level not passing the tank is against the rules. Everyone has a right to play as the tank, low level or not. Votekicking a new player because they did not pass the tank will not be tolerated.
There is a pop up "you will become tank". How about have a custom pop up that says "to pass tank type !afk". Or better yet have a clickable button that says "pass tank". I think one of the issues here is that even when someone politely asks for them to pass a tank, they probably wont see it until the third time asked. I try to tell new guys at start of infected round, "hey so and so, if you get tank you can type !afk to pass." I think addressing them kindly and by name is better than "pass tank f$$king noob!!" Admins have said I am wrong but I continue to see tank spawn in the order I posted in separate thread. Look at the bottom of your screen. You will have 3 teammates health bars. The guy on the far left will get tank unless he is already spawned. Often case this spot is lowest level. So don't buy tank unless they are spawned.
Just give low lvls some upgrades and skills of tank to play with so that they can survive longer like 15k hp, 50 hp dmg,lvl 2 of of some skills of tank etc from lvl 1 (newbies). Its will also give them some taste of pr skills and upgrades.Currently even 1 high lvl survivor can take down multiple low lvl tanks with ease. Also make heal cost 40 bounty instead of 80 for lvl 1-50 .+a pr msg pop up when a player get a tank that you can pass tank by typing !afk then !inf to join back.
Why !afk? There is a !pass option in 1.3 you know, which brings up a vote amongst the infected team to let your team vote for a new tank controller.
I still agree with the button. Although I know it's not an option for a l4d mod, this just is the best solution to make every player aware of the option. If i was a boob that just enters the server as level 1, i wouldnt know that there was a !afk option available.
Right, but why not suggest !pass instead of !afk is what I'm asking. !afk won't work for tanks in PR 1.3 (I mean it'll work, but not recommended), as it would be considered cheating, and it will log who ever !afk's out of a tank. If we see players afking out of tanks numerous times, they will be banned. Also, !afk will force the L4D2 director to pass the tank to another main on your logical team. !pass on the other hand is much more elegant. Not only will it let your team choose who should receive the tank, but it also accounts for both mains and non-mains regardless of player count.
I think you got the idea, it doesn't matter what the pop up says, but a BIG pop up for new players is better than people typing in chat and them not seeing it until they get harassed. Maybe something should be added until the new version is available. any ETA on this new stuff? I only added my 2 cents cause this happens a lot and currently there is no pop up. In fact I was just in a game where someone tried to votekick a new player for not passing tank and we voted no. The !pass sounds great. But you know everyone will vote for the highest level every time and the mid levels will never be tank. Fighting 3 level 210 tanks can suck ass sometimes.
I know you will all disagree with me, but I think we should get rid of passing the tank. I wouldn't stay in a server that I had to be a certain level to play as the tank. And if I didn't pass the tank, I get harassed by all the higher levels. That just seems wrong and unfair to me. How can you learn to get better if you can never play as the tank. That's like training for soccer by sitting on the sidelines and watching other people play.
The feature !pass is provided to extend on the limitations of the L4D2 Director, and it's much better than using !afk because even non-mains (which accounts for 6 other members on your team besides the 4 mains) can have an opportunity to win control of the tank. Director limits itself to the 4 mains, whereas pass has no limit. One member cannot force a newer one to pass the tank. Players may let each other know about the feature, but harassing them, moaning and groaning, or votekicking the player for not passing the tank is not allowed. It's the admins' responsibility to ensure both new and old players alike get equal opportunity and fair treatment on all of our servers. Can you rephrase that sentence? Anyone can play as the tank. Not sure what you mean here
I mean technically anyone can play as the tank, but that does not stop the regular players from harassing the low level players to pass the tank. Would anyone really want to play on a server that because they are new, they get constantly yelled at to pass the tank?
Hi all! I remember the time on MG when even i was low lvl and got tank sometimes ,i was spawned with 40000 hp normal tank and could kick all high lvl on that time. Don't know if it was a bug or not but it was verrry funny. They kick me with molo after and i burned, still didn't know about wet skin . So suggestion maybe lvl1 should get spawn as a 40000hp normal tank and will keep game on and players.
so many times you get a level 5 get tank for 5 straight times and ended up wasting it all 5 times , whats fun about that? after that you have high lvls quit then server dies with no one playing but bots ..... not sure why low level gets tank probability at higher rate than higher levels .... so i agree on above post either make low level get more HP or have them get tank at a lot lower probability..actually make them get some perks until they reach certain levels just so they learn the system so so so so or make them all semi Para Tank with no wet skin LOL - good idea will stop low lvel harassment
i don't care if we get low level tanks! the game will go on. yes high levels will bitch and complain but that is just the way it is. admin's will do there job "patrolling" the servers and if you get caught doing this low level tank harassing thing you will punished by them however they see fit! we can just keep playing, it is just a game, but if we get beat in a round cause we had low level tanks, still beating the other team will make for a better victory! people still need to have fun and be competitive, sum need to relax! if people rage, they will be back or oh well! :spider:
This is brilliant; looking forward to seeing it implemented in 1.3. I think the frustrating part for many is they save up for half the map or more to buy a tank, and then it goes to a Level 10 who gets raped in the same number of seconds. That's a lot of hard work to save up bounty, only to see it wasted 10 seconds later on a dead tank.
