Left 4 Dead Prequel in the works

Some of you may have seen this elsewhere, like on the Steam News and Update or over on the OverKill Forums.

The Only Official Word about a Left4Dead 3 is talk from the Devs (from Overkill!) The makers of the game 'The PayDay: The Heist'.
Very little has been released and that they are in Collaboration with the Devs from Valve to make a Prequel.
Its is said that it will be a cross-over between the two games.

The game will apparently tell how the zombie outbreak first originated in the first place.

FYI - Overkill was Software was recently Aquired by Starbreeze Studios!

I wonder if the change in ownership was part of the reason for the collaberation.

 

I've never played PayDay before so I can't say much about that. As for the prequel here's what I think;


The prequel will be similar to our favorite games L4D1 and L4D2. It will be a survival game of survivors VS zombies/monsters. It will take place in large maps that dynamically change each time you play (not just item placement). Will the environment be destructible? That's still in development.

As infected/zombie/monster:
As a zombie/monster you are to hunt down survivors as usual. However you will now have skills to be able to detect and hunt survivors more easily. You can also evolve. The more you hunt, the more you evolve. The more you evolve, the more skills you get. So you can attack the survivors early but risk dying fast or you can wait to evolve to become stronger but risk the survivors escaping. The choice is yours.

As survivor:
As a survivor you have two options. You first option is like normal. You can try to survive until the end of the map. However your second option is to hunt down the zombies. Yes that's right. The hunter is now the hunted. Survivors will be able to get equipment that will be able to track zombies, but do you dare hunt the unknown? That's for you to decide.

 

l4d 1 n 2 are good, so I think i'll buy the 3rd one just to play with you guys lol

Pity thats exclusive to the wii U, looks pretty cool. If i had the money id buy the wii U just to play that game lol.

 

The Last of Us looks like a really good game. Too bad it's only on PS3...

 

Would be pretty cool to have a prequel game, but if it's anything like the current Left 4 Dead games, then it is only going to break up the community again. :/
