Save the money for something useful, like buying Nova a ticket to Japan. :)

I never bought anything made by apple, and i never will.

To be honest, i wouldn't take one even if they paid me.

Interesting, because I own tons of apple products. I have: 2 iPod shuffles, 1 iPod nano, 1 iPod classic, 1 iPod touch, and 3 iPhones (only use one of the iPhones). I might also get a MacBook pro soon if I decide I like it. Great stuff right there....

Well, someone's certainly drunk the koolaid! I think everything about the new iPad is great hardware-wise but some of the functionality of iOS I still find annoying. But its the fact that you're tethered to iTunes that keeps me away. As long as iTunes is part of the equation, I say no.

Why do you find iTunes a problem?

I think i'll wait for next year , this New Ipad is like an Ipad 2s , not a big innovation. I hope apple do something great whit the new iphone 5 ( or maybe "The new iphone"...) and Siri in spanish :P.

Macbook, iPad 2, iPhone 4s, iPod touch, 2 iPod Nanos (which I plan on selling)... I probably won't get another iPad for a few years. I love my iPad 2, but I'll admit, it really is like an oversized iPod Touch. I mainly use it for videos and books. Though, I know you're about to go to college soon so it might be helpful. I was able to order some of my textbooks in e-book format and view them on my ipad. That was very convenient because I hated lugging textbooks around. Also, you can get the app Pages on your iPad and that is the equivalent of Pages on a Mac. I used my Macbook all the time in my classes, but when I got my iPad, I started using that instead. Sure the macbook does more, but my iPad did everything I needed to while in class. Need a usb flash drive for your iPad? Then you can just use the dropbox app and save your stuff there and open them on dropbox.com from any computer (and vice versa). If you have any questions choco, I can help you out... I used to work at Apple, so I know a lot about their products.

PS. I recommend you save your money for a Macbook Pro. Trust me, you'll love it.

iTunes is a problem for many people who dont use a Mac. From what I hear its very buggy, slow, and annoying on Windows.

As much as iPods and the iPhone are great, the iPad was just too much :/ soon we'll have an iTable, an iTV, heck iCinemas and whatmore :S

Although I think the iPad 2 has a camera integrated in it.

A camera in a tablet? really? what will they have next.....pull out disposable knife and forks? I have an ipod touch, used to have a nano and used some apple pc's at college for art & design and thats as far as my apple experience goes, while i do like my touch the whole ipod ipad iphone ishit things are over hyped...

They already have iTV (apple TV), except they're not allowed to call it that since it was already a registered trademark :P

I've never owned an apple device, used them many a time, my old school was bloody obsessed and I have no intention of ever owning one. They just don't sit right with me, both the buisness and the devices.
It was quite funny with my old school though, there was so much annoyance and so many complaints over the apple computers that the school caved and made them all dual booting with Windows, which at least made it bearable.

Indeed. Although I do admit that I haven't tried iTunes in years but it was so bad, I aint ever giving it another chance. That said, I have many Mac loving friends that hate iTunes too and have complained plenty about it, so I don't think it's Windows only... just probably way worse on Windows.

I also just don't like the whole Apple design aesthetic. It's too glossy, with too much wasted space. And because you can't change a goddamn thing about the OS, you have to live with it. I'll take a more complex, less elegant operating system that I can get under the hood any day over what Apple says I need.

Serious note leave apple in the trash where it belongs. :D I like my pc. All the computers at school are Lenova and work excellent My input. Anything apple to me is just paying for a bigger name and getting less features. They came out with the first products but that doesn't mean they are the best. All the people in school have Apple crap glued to their ears or in their hands I see it pointless to pay 300$ more for a name when Hp Dell and other shizz like that is better. *excluding Gateway* Personally I like My Android phone if you want to spend more money go ahead. :D

I used to think the same way; then I got a Mac lol. I don't think Macs are the best anything (though there is no question that iPads are the best tablets right now). Still, most people compare their phones and computers to Apple's products. I just think people should actually go at least a week using Apple's products before criticizing. Otherwise, you have no real clue what you are talking about. As for Mac having less features.. yes, this is true but it all depends on what the user wants. My Mac does everything I want it to do. I do a lot with art and graphic design so I find the programs on Mac very useful FOR ME. Not everyone uses all of Windows many features, either btw. I have both Windows and Mac OS on my Macbook (legally lol) so I get the best of both worlds. Now I'll admit though, gaming on a Mac sucks big time. Thankfully, my brother has a great gaming pc. Still, it's called a Personal Computer for a reason: It doesn't matter what anyone else likes because it's YOUR computer. You're the one paying for it. Value is all in the eye of the buyer.. for some it's not worth it, for others, it is. As for iPads and iPhones, honestly, if you have a Mac; you might as well get an iPhone because they work great together (and my iPhone was same price as my brother's Samsung Galaxy S2 btw). iPads are definitely not a necessity, but if you have the money and want to get a tablet, then sure, why not.

I love my iPad 1 and I still use it every day. I originally got it for reading comics (cbr, cbz format) and for music apps (iPad beats the $2000 Jazzmutant Lemur). Then I discovered the games - holy shit the iPad is good for gaming. It won't replace a laptop, but if you have to be away from home for say, a week - perfect. A fantastic travel companion.

I've done tech support for macs before. I do some independent contracting stuff for some people that require me to do stuff on mac os, so it's not like I'm not plenty familiar. I think a lot of fanboys in particular (not referring to you TJ or anyone else in this thread) can't conceive the notion that someone would use Apple comps and not be a convert. There's lots to like about apple computers, just too much stuff that I don't much care for. Add to that the almost unconscionable profit margins they gouge people with, off the backs of indigent workers in China, and it's really hard to be ok with the "Apple tax".
