Hunters - More Freedom

I want to try and make the argument for providing hunters more freedom by allowing them to utilise 'exploitative areas'.

This will only address hidden-infected using sniper rifles (of any kind).

Sniper rifles aren't really the first weapon of choice when it comes to direct confrontation. It's the last weapon you'd want to have if you're on the run, away from a gang of enraged survivors. But when used properly--maybe behind some fortunate cover you'd happened to come across--it can easily tip the balance of power of the game.

But the decent cover is scarce, and it can become easily compromised and become your future burial grounds. Which kinda sucks.

One example of an exploitative area I'd like to see 'legalised' is the roof Josh 'slayed' me from. On Mainstreet, opposite the florist, the building next to the houses that houses two fire ammo spawns. There are pipes either side that both hunters and survivors can climb (they're invisible literally ladders). However, you can only stand on the pipes. There's a natural barrier for survivors that prevents them from being able to use the roof...which doesn't apply to hunters. Atop this roof is a typical ventilation system. It's pretty decent cover. From there, I almost cleared a perfect head-shot on Jost, but he was too easily quick to take notice and reacted swiftly, preventing me from being able to move from my cover without being exposed.

Once Josh discovered it was me, he used his admin powers to slay me, and then warned me. :(

But the roof was so damn good, even if I didn't get a single kill that round!

Spots like that, which also incluides the church roof on that same map, are really, really useful for snipers. Please, I wish you'd permit hunters to use them.

    • The game is on a timer, once it has ran out, it's the hunters who lose and not the survivors.
    • Survivors who are already aware of which roofs may be being used can easily prevent themselves from becoming sitting ducks. They can just move away from that area, forcing the hunter to move.
    • Survivors who catch a name of someone using these roofs/areas can easily 'KOS' without fear of being wrong. They wouldn't be.
    • Roofs may be limited; they may only offer one way on and one way off, meaning that a hunter could easily be putting themselves in a vulnerable situation. Like I was on Mainstreet.

I don't want this to just apply to roofs. I bet there are more areas out there that could offer the infected snipers a fairly decent vantage point.

But of course, even I have my lines; if you could somehow get under the map and shoot through the floor, I wouldn't ever abuse such a place. But this isn't that.

And it's not like leaping hunters are penalise for ending up in exploitative areas, and/or using them. Aka. hunter leaping outside the chain-linked fence on Barge, or even the huge office roof!

But survivors won't be able to kill hunters in these areas. It'd be a total time-waste!
    • Hidden infected can already time-waste effectively.
    • You can just avoid them until the hunter is forced to make a move by the timer.
    • You could pick up a sniper and fire back. :/

I understand such areas are exploitive, so I won't use them. But I'd like to see if we can that changed. Or at least I'ma try. :)

    Thanks for reading!

I get your point but i think there are some points this will lead to:
    - players will more likely use sniperrifles, just for those spots. This will result in a camper-party. And if every infected is camping on such point, the whole sneaky, discovering ingame is gone.
    - survivors can't reach it. If a survivor sees an infected sitting on for example a roof, he barely can harm him with a shotgun or a rifle. In this case the infected is OP against the survivor, being able to buy an AWP and just 1-shot kill him, while the survivor has every trouble deeling damage which his much weaker weapon, especially since close-combat won't happen

"It's not allowed to go to areas as a HI where survivors can't go"

This rule is accepted and in every head of the HI players, we won't change that.
It's not the idea of the game that you can hide from survivors, the detective and his team should be able to chase the HI wherever they are.

Imagine when you can go on roofs on sewer map or offices. It's just an easy spot to snipe the survivors and hide like a little kid. Not really funny when you don't have a possibility to do something as a survivor.

I know you love the AWP and it's one of the most powerful items on HI-server (my opinion), but try to use other stuff in buy menu and work as a team. i often see you sniping alone without any teamwork.

    Dat admin Josh.

In any case. I would love to have the HI use places survivors cannot reach. But there are too many problems with it. Camping is one of the reasons.

What I really disliked however, is that inf ladders are now gone in almost every map. As hunter you could use certain "invisible" ladders to cross the map quickly and easily. That was nice, I liked that.

Have no clue why that is removed.
