hunter escape leap clarification wanted

hi - in the infected buff's section there's the escape leap for the hunter which alows you to leap off a victim only using one button. but there is also the hunter repounce in the skills section - if I bought the escape leap, would I be able to jump off the victim instantly, even if I hadn't bought any of the repounce skills?

 

the reason I ask is because the escape leap costs 3000 points - which I think is quite a lot if it only saves you the effort of pressing one less button so I'm assuming that it means you can leap off instantly without having to buy the repounce skills but you never know and I don't want to waste my points on it if it doesn't.

I have my crouch remapped to the shift button so it's easy to press both shift and control at the same time with my little finger when pouncing off of a victim with the hunter.

 

I think you need to buy the Repounce skills before you go the full hog and get the Escape Leap.
