Game crashing

game been crashing lately usually when map starts ... i did verify files, deleted bin files from l4d2 folder etc... nothing seems to work, any ideas? this a steam problem?

 

Nort had the same problem ( I think ) and he fixed it by updating his graphics driver.
Can you give any more information about when you crash?

 

He actually didn't update his vid drivers he downgraded them. Maybe some new Nvidia driver acting up?

 

i havent updated any drivers lately same drivers for everything last 6 months or so, actually started happening after the last steam update, game usually crash when map starts just before the ingame image ad pops out if you can call it that.

 

Sounds like maybe ur gfx card got an overload? Try deleting temp files and using registry cleaner, defragging ur computer and also turning some settings down in l4d2.

 

yeah game is still crashing for me, it happens on the coop server ONLY and usually when joining in or starting a new map, so now ive discovered its not the graphics card driver at all, i thought id fixed it, but this was due to joining the Vs servers, there fine, its the coop server which is causing me to crash, 9/10 i need restart the computer

 

Nort by any chance is the crash happening when you push enter when the motd pops up?

 

on mine it crashes before it finishes loading the motd pop up on the VS servers, i actually had to reintall, but on my bad part, i had my old email, so now in contact with lousy steam CS to get my email change, 2 days and still no answer, and i gave them everything they need to get me going ... damn steam is so bad ... is the motd a steam thing or part mgftw?

 

The motd crash happens depending on what browser you use (I think) so it isnt affiliated with Steam or Mgftw.
I used IE, then switched to Google Chrome and then back to IE and i started to crash 1/3 when i pressed enter on the motd. The crashing stopped when i uninstalled Google Chrome.

 

that sux, havent used IE since chrome came out LOL
going to play with chrome settings and see if those helps

anyway to disable the Message of the day ?

 

The Motd is server side, so you cannot disable it, or at least i don't know how.
If you wish you could uninstall IE and keep Google chrome and see if this fixes the problem.

server getting boring with crashes

 

yup i feel ya pain jtork, im over it and done with the mgftw coop servers, ill still play on the Vs servers tho, they work fine, its just the coop which crashs me when join in EVRYTIME, so yeah, thats my conclusion to this problem, just dont join the coop servers, kinda sux tho, being unable to fight shamans, knight tanks, and supreme shamans which i have never come across yet, guess i never will now

 

i pmed marvel to see if he could disable the MOTD for 24 hours so we can see if it because of that
