No one replied :? .. Anyways, do you want to build the pc yourself or do you want a pre-built? Also, do you also need a new monitor and other hardwares or just the pc itself..

Well, 400 - 500 doesn't leave a lot of room for a fast game pc. I would love to help but I'm not very familiar with english webshops and prices.

As marvel has pointed out, your budget is not enough for a i3/i5/i7 build.

Let's swap to an AMD build.

The PC he posted up is a good starting point, I think you could do better if you plan on buying the parts yourself and building it.

What do you prefer, a prebuilt or to build it? You could take it to a PC store to build it for you as well.

I presume you already have a keyboard, mouse, speakers, headset, monitor right?

What HDD'/DVD's do you have in your old PC, we could save some money and reuse these for the new one.

Why hung up on nVidia by the way?

    mostly for games ?
well it totaly depence on what you really want. do you want games like Crysis 2, just cause 2, Rage on full settings ? you should look for something in the range of a HD6000 maybe a HD 6950, and that wont fit you budget.

if you settle for medium/high graphics on the games that are out this year then a HD5770 (1gb) would do just fine for about 150-160 US dollars, but i must say that upcomming games like Battlefield 3, Modern warfare 3 might get some lag with high settings, but very well playable on Medium

i have a HD5770 myself, and i'm still pleased with it, but when BF3 is released i might switch over to a HD6000 series, because i only want Ultra graphics

as for CPU, i currently have a AMD x6 Phenom II 1055T, with 6 cores running at 2.800Mhz stock settings, and i havent even seen it on 100% capacity. also it easy to overclock to 3.200Mhz with a aftermarked cooler. currently also around 150-160 US dollars.

    so that makes
320 US dollar and you have a Good GPU for Medium/high graphics gaming (1080p if you monitor supports that ), and a Great CPU.

for Memory i would just suggest buying 4GB 1,333Mhz memory, anything would do aslong as its DDR3, prices arnt that high these days. 40US dollars is enough.

when it comes to a PSU you can settle with a 500Watt, 550/600Watt to be safe, when you want to put in a extra HDD or DVD or whatnot.

As for Mobo i would suggest a M4a89GTD-pro/usb3
it supports Crossfire, can handle up to 16Gb ddr3 1.333Mhz.
and supports the latest USB3 divices.

and with the money you have left you can look for a decent PC computer case to fit it all in.
suggest a BIG-tower because of the airflow and cooling.

i hope this helps a bit, i only talked about AMD and Radeon cards in this thread because i only have AMD and Radeon, and i must say i wont be switching over to Intel and Nvidia. but that's something i personally dont want. AMD offers allmost the same preformance as INTEL but with a lower price. same goes for ATI and Nvidia

I'm pretty sure he can add a 6950 1GB version to this build, they are only

ive got a 5770 aswel, an awesome card for the price...probably a bit outdated now (ive had it for like 2 years) but ive been able to run any game on max settings including crysis with an i7 without fps lag

I recommend registering to this site http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/ and make a thread with your budget and specifications, i was gunna build my own and thought i had a pretty awesome build but it turns out it was pretty shit lol so i ended up buying a pre-built one from http://www.overclockers.co.uk/ (another good site) Check their charts aswel, they do benchmark tests with graphically demanding games for CPU's and gfx cards so you know where you'll stand.

I bought a custom built computer about a year ago. I can tell you that my video card is a very strong workhorse. It was very well rated and not top of the line which saved some money. I have a Radeon 5850. It handles everything that I play with no issues. I also recommend the i5. Again, not top of the line like the i7 which will again save some money but a strong workhorse. Just my two cents.

Thanks for all the replys guys, I had forgot I wrote this thread, so sorry for the delay in reply :)

I had realizeed that I could not get the computer I wanted for the budget I had set, as you guys
hads said too, So I managed to scrap together a bit more so I could get a PC that would let me
play the games I want at the level I want. I mean, I could see no point in getting a computer that
would not run the latest games (latest over the next 3-4 years!) and at a level I would be happy
with. I wanted to be able to play at High to Ultra and in the future still be able to play at Medium.

    Advent MS-7728 i-5 2310 2.90GHz (x4)
    Windows 7 64b Pro
    Ram: 8Gb DDR3
    HDD(s): 1.5Tb & 500Mb Sata
    GPU: GeForce GT 530 w/ 1Gb DDR3 **
PSU: 700w OCZ Steath X Stream

I decided not to buy a new monitor and to keep and reuse my current
ViewSonic VA712b Monitor and I was going to do the same for my Sound
Card but there is no slot for it but the onboard HD-Audio is doing fine
    (so far!).

Its was a SB X-Fi Platinum, guess I can keep it in the old PC for when
    I sell it.

** I said I had this GPU, I do have it and it did come with the computer
but when Installed the new OS (It came with Win7 Home-P) I put Win7 Pro
on instead (for the backwards compatability with xp games system it has)
I forgot to back up the drivers for it, now im having problems getting
them again as on the Nvidea Update site they are down as OEM only, meaning
the drivers can not be downloaded (Yet!) guess I will have to wait or
convince Nvidea to let me have a copy, donw know if they will.

So im still using my old Nvidia GeForce 9800GT 1Gb DDR3 which is still a
good card so having to use it for a while longer is not to much of a bad
    thing.

    Hello,

Just my 2 cents about the issue.
When you want to buy a pc make sure it isnt top technology because it gets outdated very fast; It only needs 6 months period to get outdated and new hardware/software specifications arise -> a pc that costs 2 k

I agree, you really get the most bang for your buck if you go with good but not great components and update them regularly. Imo, hardware is advancing faster than games currently, so even a cheap card can be fairly solid when it comes to what games it can run.

Personally I go for the over the top monster rigs, but that's because my income stream is fairly irregular. Putting together my current rig would be like 400$ cheaper today, and it isn't even that old. :(

Try Omega drivers for the OEM 530 card. Worked for me in the past when using OEM vid cards that I couldn't track down drivers for.

also that 700W is a little bit to much. or if you're planning on buying a 1200 dollar videocard to use cat programs then yes lol :P

CPU uses like 100-125W so do the counting :) but ya the cheapest way in getting the best pc for a good price is putting your own computer together. find the parts you want and get them at the cheapest place. and then putting it together isn't that hard :)

Yea 700W is a little to much, even what it say is recommended its higher than what it need.

There is a website about how much you need. if i find it again i will post it

Just google PSU calculator and you'll get some hits. The Newegg one is known for being quite crap and asking for waaay too much so I'd avoid that one.
