    Hi everyone,

After talking to a few people (actually just one.. cough Honor.. cough), I decided to work on a web template for MG. It's still a work in progress, and I'd appreciate constructive criticism! I hope to get MG a good website instead of a forum page, with good reason. MG needs to up its server rank b/c we really hate those ppl in #1 right now. We all do, let's face it. It can function (once complete) as a web site for latest news, updates, etc. I'm adding a custom made PHP MG Fan script and galley script as well.

    Updates:
    - 12/26 Flash animation added, nav half revised
    - 12/25 First test up. No links work atm. Actually try clicking the servers button in the header description

    Todo:
    -Finish (obviously)
-Too tired to type what to finish... (darn med essay)
-I can't host MG test pages on my industrial site for long. Gotta finish quick.

I just love it! This is exactly what i had in mind when thinking about a home page. Just one suggestion, a "News" Tab would be usefull, so we can also post the announcements there (aswell as on our steam group).

I dont really think we will need a "download" tab, cuz, noone has to download anything from us actually (maybe for the css server, but there is no point since its all automatic xD).

Would be cool to have this on the tab:

    Home - News - Forum - Statistics - Bans - Contact - About Us

Anyway, i really like the design, keep it up!!! :D

One more thing xD, where it says (#) Latest Games, it would be could if you could change that to "(#) Our Servers" and on the link part (Berserker(LINK / LINK)) you can send steam a command to connect to the servers.

    This is the format:

    steam://connect/<ip>

So for example to connect berserker mode usa, the url would be:

    steam://connect/173.224.125.171:27016

    :P

Thanks for your suggestion Honor :D I wanted to make that change. Actually, the latest game thing was there because I was going to have the latest maps from the servers display there, but it would be more economical to just have links to the server and that's what I did. I forgot to change the header tho =P

I'll work on the links (actually all I have to do is go to stats and Right-click -> Copy Link instead of formatting by hand :)) and the nav on the next update.

EDIT: also, MG Fans will be the secret donor-only page so people feel more inclined to check out what's inside and donate =P I'll try and put some cool stuff in there like commands and such or maybe someone in here can work on a donor menu script or something that can play certain bell sounds or change the color of their donor text. Something on that page I guess. I need some more ideas of what to put on that page. As for what MG Fans is... Let's just leave it as "I'm thinking about a good script idea" xD

Isn't that the ban list? Lol, I think I will rename Bans to that. I will upload the newer files tomorrow so you will see it updated--gotta get to bed now :P

    Very good indeed.
One bad thing though - It's purely l4d2. Add some l4d1 characters in the banner or something and it'll be perfect ^^

EDIT: Add counterstrike - since MG is now running a CSS server and maybe make the banner a little smaller, ruins the look being half the page.

    Re: MG web template

Thanks everybody for your awesome comments. I'll resize the header a bit, but that header with the Marvelous Gaming logo will exist only on the home page. In web design, a lot of websites have "eye-candy homepages." My next version will include an updated homepage with a flash animation of MG. It'll be awesome, I promise xD

    Re: MG web template

OK not much for a flash animation per say, but here it is with some spacing for the main header. Note I can add up to 25 pages to the animation (since 790 px approx 32 px * 25). I'll change the spacing around a bit and the nav is half-updated (working on it Honor lol). But the flash animation will only be on the home page and every other page will have a sleeker version of the design (w/o the big header) for the content. I'm also working on a port of the page for vB as well.

    Thanks everyone!

I wonder why MG never changed the HLstatsX logo to MG. Is it because of a license agreement on the software?

    Re: MG web template

Likin it so far man, nice work! - just a few suggestions though, up to you whether or not to take them into consideration :) While i appreciate the clean design it looks a little *too* bare (in my opinion) possibly add two *slightly* lighter gradients either side or maybe brush in something behind the lower template...i dunno what as long as its subtle.

Since its a clean n simple template maybe a more fluid font for the links at the top...possibly even the one that was used for the "Marvelous Gaming" text in the flash header or even "Ariel"...i think that font u got at the mo looks a bit clunky.

Maybe make the links highlight on roll-over to a lighter shade of gray...i know its simple but it makes a big difference.

Just a couple humble suggestions n like i said up to you whether u take them into consideration, can i ask what programme u used to make this?, i take it u used mx flash for the header but did u use that for the rest of the template or...? Been doin some freelance graphic design work for the past 3 years n would love to help out on this one...not sayin you need it at all buh the offers there =)

    Re: MG web template

    Hi davzee,

Thanks for your suggestions! I was considering an Aero style light-on-black fading gradient. It slipped my mind midway and I'm glad you brought it up! I'm moving to a CSS only design (heck should've started with it in the first place -_-) as well, and at that time I will add a fluid width body and a navigation with a simple rollover gradient.

As for the flash, Flash MX is quite old and I no longer use it. I use Adobe Flash Professional CS4 for many of my flash projects. However, for the header, it is powered by a slideshow engine called Piecemaker 2. Check it out here: http://www.modularweb.net/

I find Piecemaker, though not as fancy as CU3ER, quite effective for online presentations and intros in my web design projects. I'd recommend taking a look at Adobe Flash CS5 Pro as well. I hear it has had significant improvements from CS4 including a iPhone iOS development kit!

The semi-bare design of the site is actually intended, lol, because the goal is to get as many users to visit, play & donate. I didn't want to distract them from the task. Yet, I don't want it to be a skeleton, so I will look into your suggestion xD Thanks!
