    This is just a general guideline for the recommended buffs on any particular defensive buff set that suits your playstyle. Remember, the buff sets have their strengths and weaknesses and may / may not be suited to whatever buffs you want on any offensive buff set you come up with. These buff sets do not contain any other buffs other than the unique and quest buffs only.

    The Defensive Buff Sets are generally situated towards defense against Special infected/Tanks.

    The buff sets you will see here are:

    • Defensive Guardian COOP (Defensive defense against tanks Buff Set)
    • Fortified Survivor COOP (Defensive defense against special infected Buff Set)

    This buff set is situated more towards defense against Tanks.

    Defensive Guardian COOP <top>

    Benefits of this buff set <top>
    • Knife: Gives you 1 knife that can be used to release yourself from an SI attack once. Your knife can be used after 1 second of being pinned, by pressing ZOOM button.
    • Goggles: Obtain goggles that protect you from bile. Buff includes "Cheap Goggles" buff effect.
    • Guardian Moustachio: Gives 5 seconds of moustachio bless if lethal damage is taken.
      <Works only once per round>
    • Mutation Shield: Protection against Mutation Bad Status Effect.
    • Shaman Handler: -90% reduced damage taken from Shaman / Supreme Shaman Tanks. Buff will stop working if mutated.
    • Knight Handler: -90% reduced damage taken from Knight / Supreme Knight Tanks. Buff will stop working if mutated.
    • Morphine Injector: Heals 3 HP every 5 seconds while not incapacitated or hanging from a ledge. Cannot heal if poisoned.

    • Group Morale: -1% reduced damage taken for every other survivor alive.
    • General Tank Handler: -0.12% reduced damage taken from tanks x current level.
      <Max buff defense percent: 90%>
    • Tenacity: +2000 + 200 per level above 201 increased maximum HP. You instantly die when your HP reaches 0.
      <Health from medikits used is halved for each medikit used, down to 25% (100% -> 50% -> 25%)>
      <Players with Tenacity equipped have increased aggro from Tanks by 50%>
      <Coop Only>
    • Strength Burst: When activated, able to constantly shove away most infected classes (not witches) from you, and cannot be incapacitated for 12 seconds. The effect gives -20% less maximum HP for 60 seconds, afterwards you then regain +1% maximum HP back every 30 seconds.
      <Coop Only, activate in the !buy menu once per round>
      <Tanks only shoved for 4 seconds, and can't be shoved again for 30 seconds>
    • Health Dispenser: Allows you to place a special device on the floor using medikit. Nearby survivors receive +15 + 0.5% Max HP per second, cured of all bad status effects and given moustachio bless for 5 seconds.

      <Duration: 14 seconds>
      <Versus: 8HP per second, 1 second of moustachio bless, does not clear bad statuses>
    • Knife Bag: You can carry an additional knife.
      <Coop Only>
    • Finale Dominator: On finale/survival maps, On each special infected kill, +1 stack of finale dominator (+2 stacks on each uber special infected kill), up to 15. +3% increased damage, +1% increased defense, +0.5% increased movement speed, +0.5% increased fire rate, +2% increased reload speed and +2% chance to save ammo. You lose a stack in (25-stacks) seconds or if pinned by special infected or if incapacitated. You lose all stacks on death.

    Tips for effectively using this buff set
    • In order to make defending against the tanks work well for the team, make sure to let the tanks aggro you instead of the other survivors so then they can get in free damage on the tank.
    • If you know a few survivors that are ready to activate their berserk or other buffs that can be used to deal a lot of damage to a single tank, then get the tank into the best possible position first. Once you have done that use your strength burst buff on the tank and shove it into position so then the other survivors can use their buff effects more easily or effectively.
    • If you know someone that is about to die from a powerful tank ability that you don't want to have happening to them, use the Health Dispenser by placing it down near their location. That way you will not only save them but avoid getting yourself in the way of the tank if it happens to be nearby as well.
    • When you have the Finale Dominator buff effect active on finale/survival maps. Make sure to kill Special Infected often so that the higher amount of stacks you have will result in increased survivability rates for you and for the survivor team itself.

    This buff set is situated more towards defense against Special Infected, but can also be used against tanks in a way too.

    • Infected Swarm Protection: -3% reduced damage taken from common infected x amount of common infected within range.
      <Radius: 135 units>
    • Mindset Change: Allows you to be incapacitated an unlimited number of times. On each incap, max incap HP = 90% of previous value. Using a first aid kit restores it to full.
      <Coop Only>
    • Unstoppable: Gives you the ability to block CC abilities depending on your current HP. Chance of blocking CC ability = current health %. Lower HP = less likely chance.

    • If you want to have the best chance of blocking Special Infected CC, make sure your current HP is high so that you have a higher chance to block it. The chance to block Special Infected CC will be a % number based on your current hp / maximum hp x 100 for the % number.
    • If you know a few survivors that are ready to activate their berserk or other buffs that can be used to deal a lot of damage to a single tank, then get the tank into the best possible position first.
