  • The Types of Buff Sets + Benefits + Tips for effectively using that buff set

    In mgftw, where it is not known in the buff categories itself, there exists a range of Buff Set play styles that people would be using in COOP. These Buff Set play styles exist to serve many purposes, from going all out as a damage dealer to the infected to the tank that defends against damage from tanks while luring them as crowd control to the support given to the survivors to increase their survivability in COOP. There will be always 1 or more play styles that people do often enjoy playing in COOP. Here I will list the type of Buff Sets (Play styles) that you can consider when deciding your buffs in COOP.

    Offensive Assault COOP

    • AWP (Arctic Warfare Police)
    • Magnum
    Benefits of this buff set
    • 1 knife (+1 Knife if you have the Knife Clan Benefit).
    • You can no longer get vomit on your screen as well as mud and blood.
    • 25% reduced bounty cost and bounty cost only increases by 1 bounty for each health item bought.
    • +0.5% (+1.5% when using AWP/SCOUT/Magnum) increased damage dealt to infected per bullet hit on them. The increased damage dealt to infected is reset after reloading weapon, changing targets, changing weapon. Maximum Increased Damage: +150%.
    • You can deal an additional 350HP damage per critical bullet. The effect has a cooldown of 3 seconds for every use.
    • You can gain +15% additional (buff) damage from killing witches successfully without any survivor getting hurt. Maximum Additional (buff) damage increase: 45%
    • You can deal +300% additional (buff) damage on the target that killed any survivor other than yourself for 8 seconds. You are also unable to be killed for 8 seconds from any attack by the revenge target.
    • You can deal +25% additional (buff) damage on any infected + all bullets that hit the target ignore defense and tank abilities/immunities when dealing damage for 30 seconds. Effect disappears if you die and immediately goes on cooldown. Once the effect ends, it goes on cooldown for 5 minutes.
    • You have 2000 Maximum HP (+200 HP for every level past level 201). Up to 5800 Maximum HP. If your HP reaches 0, you instantly die. The heal received and dealt from each medikit is reduced by half, maximum: 1/4 healing received and dealt. You also have 50% increased aggro to tanks.
    • your knives cannot be used up against the smoker special infected if he/she pins you down.
    • You are able to spawn and de-spawn a pet charger with 300 HP. he deals 750 HP per hit on any infected and can benefit from the charger revenge buff if its controller gets hit by healing from the damage received. If the pet charger dies within 3 seconds of being spawned, it can be spawned again.
    • Using only heavy sniper rifles (AWP/SCOUT) you can apply a cupid arrow to any special infected and tank once per lifetime. Special Infected and tanks fallen in love with the buff effect are drawn to you and help you out. Special Infected are in love for 2 minutes and can only be killed by you. Tanks are in love for 10 seconds and can be attacked by anyone.
    • You can charge a pistol. +10 additional bonus damage per % of charge. 3% charge gained per second while running. On full charge, next shot stuns any special infected and any tank for 2 seconds. Each shot resets charge to 0%.
    • Allows you to find out what the next tank is in the !buy menu. The drone acts as an auto-turret, dealing 60 true damage each 0.6 seconds to infected. prioritizes special infected. Won't prioritize Special Infected trapping the controller of the buff.
    Tips for effectively using this buff set
    • You should activate the berserk buff along with the pet buff while the avenger buff is currently active, but do it before just or immediately when someone gets killed by the tank. Using the AWP and magnum you can really deal an immense amount of damage to the tanks in a very short amount of time.
    • If you want to have maximum effectiveness with the Witch Hunter buff on each map, make sure to be the one that is startling and killing the witches without any survivor taking damage. Be wary not to headshot to death the witches too close or that bomb witch could negate the buff effect by damaging you on it's death. If you want to, feel free to first aid kit if you want to melee kill the witch instead so that the moustachio bless can block all of the damage you would have taken from the witch.
    • If you want to have 2 pets under your control instead of one. As long as no one else has a pet, shoot any special infected with the AWP while scoped in when the buff effect of Cupid's Arrow can be activated. After the effect has worked successfully on either a boomer, spitter and or charger (you can even do it against the ubered version) then spawn your pet to have two pets under your control. Now that's double the power.
    • Don't be afraid to spawn a pet charger when you don't want to be using any knifes and or have ran out of them. Plus if he dies within 3 seconds of being spawned and having saved you at the same time, he can be spawned again.
    • The additional damage dealt from weapons is the most increased when you use the AWP while scoped in to fire shots at infected, this is due to the very high base damage of 500 that the AWP can deal while scoped in at any infected before calculations.
    • To make effective use of the Zapped gun buff, only attack the infected with your pistols for a few moments when you have full charge to be able to stun them, it can even save a teammates life if your lucky enough.
    • If you want to make the most out of the Helping Drone buff, be sure to let the other players know if a tier 2 or a tier 3 tank is coming and to prepare for it based on its type, whether it would be a physical or a special based.

    • +1% bounty rate increase per special infected kill. Max: 30% Bounty Rate Increase.
    • Instantly reduces melee fatigue by 50% on special infected kill. Additionally, resets melee fatigue and prevents gaining anymore for 3 seconds after being released from any special infected.
    • +0.5% (+1.5% when using AWP/SCOUT/Magnum) increased damage dealt to infected per bullet hit on them. The increased damage dealt to infected is reset after reloading weapon, changing targets, changing weapon. Maximum Increased Damage: +150%.
    • You deal +1% of the target's current health on hit with melee weapons as bonus damage. Works only with infected that can take melee damage.
    • Headshots deal 100% additional (buff) damage to special infected. For each special infected killed by a headshot, the additional (buff) damage is increased by 25%. Max additional (buff) damage: 400%. No increased (buff) damage to tanks.
    • 1% chance to have damage dealt ignore defense against any target.
    • After getting attacked by any special infected. You cannot receive any Crowd Control effects from the same special infected type that you got released from for 7 seconds.
    • 300% additional damage for 8 seconds on the revenge target that killed any other survivor.
    • Additional health that is scaled with your current level.
    Tips for effectively using this buff set well
    • The name of the game is to be able to kill special infected quickly and easily. Remember the focused buff gets more powerful the more headshot kills you have on special infected so be sure to aim for those when you see any nearby special infected.
    • If you need to shove your way out because an uber special infected is blocking you, save those deadly shoves to be used on them so that you don't have to use it on the normal special infected.
    • Aim to kill as many special infected as you can while a tank fight is on. Not only will you help out your team with the infected that need to be dealt with, you will also net yourself up to +30% additional bounty can be a big deal on the bounty gain on tank deaths.
    • Everytime someone on the survivor team dies, use the avenger buff to quickly get rid of the offending special infected that killed them. You can prevent more survivors from dying to the same special infected that way.
    Demoman Destroyer COOP

    • Your grenade launcher projectiles have the ability to seek out nearby special infected. Radius: 1000 units. Reduces your movement speed by 25%.
    • You can shoot 10 additional grenade launcher projectiles on your first shot. causes your grenade launcher to overheat for 10 seconds. Effect can only be activated once per round.
    • Your pipe bombs when thrown as projectiles are able to now seek out any nearby special infected. The pipe boomb takes 10 seconds longer to detonate and will deal 300 true damage upon exploding. For every common infected killed before the pipe bomb explodes, it will deal +50 additional true damage.
    • The clipsize of the Grenade Launcher has been increased from a single projectile to 5 projectiles. Decreases your reload speed by 225% (before reload modifiers take effect).
    • Your pipe bombs when thrown as projectiles will have the power to freeze infected when they explode. Special Infected and tanks can become frozen depending on how close they were to the explosion. Special Infected can get frozen for 10 seconds while tanks can get frozen for 3 seconds. Ice Tanks cannot be frozen.
    • You can find out what the next tank is in !buy menu. Buff also acts as an auto-turret dealing 60 true damage to infected every 0.6 seconds. prioritizes special infected but may not prioritize special infected trapping you.
    Tips on effectively using this buff set well
    • When any tank kills a survivor, activating the avenger buff, you can activate the berserk buff on top of that and fire away with the grenade launcher while your in close range to the tank. The tank itself can't resist the explosions and as a result of the buffs will take heavily increased damage for a few moments. Even better if it can be done when you haven't used the floral grenade launch buff yet.
    • When throwing pipe bombs, make sure that there are a lot of common infected nearby when your aiming for damage on the tank or any uber special infected you want to prioritize, the more common infected killed, the higher the damage dealt with the seeking grenade buff effect pipe bomb explosion.
    • Before using this buff set, make sure to have a Grenade Launcher equipped so you don't have to feel so bad about the reduced movement speed you get while having the heat missile buff equipped.
    • If you want to obtain a Grenade Launcher before the end of the current map when there isn't one to be found, that also includes not having enough bounty for one, do things that earn bounty alot more often (including killing special infected along the way) but not staying behind at the back to do so.

    • Headshots deal 100% additional (buff) damage to special infected. For each special infected killed by a headshot, the additional (buff) damage is increased by 25%. Max additional (buff) damage: 400%. No increased (buff) damage to tanks.
    • You have 2000 Maximum HP (+200 HP for every level past level 201). Up to 5800 Maximum HP. If your HP reaches 0, you instantly die. The heal received and dealt from each medikit is reduced by half, maximum: 1/4 healing received and dealt. You also have 50% increased aggro to tanks.
    • You will regenerate 1% of your missing health every 5 seconds while not poisoned, hanging or incapacitated. The buff effect won't work with Morphine Injector buff.
    • For every infected killed with the M60 rifle, you restore 2 bullets per common infected kill and 8 bullets per special infected kill to the clip size.
    • When firing bullets from your primary weapon, they have a 20% chance to become a bullet that won't be used up in the clip.
    • You will regenerate 1 ammo per second to the clip size while running. Effect won't work if you are incapacitated.
    • You will receive 1 bounty every 2 minutes after the saferoom door is opened.
    • After you heal using a first aid kit, you will gain the power of peanut bless, increasing your bounty earn rate by +165% while the effects of moustachio bless last.
    • You gain the ability to purchase ammo piles to place anywhere on the map for 20 bounty from the !buy menu in the miscellaneous section.
    • You can find out what the next tank is in !buy menu. Buff also acts as an auto-turret dealing 60 true damage to infected every 0.6 seconds. prioritizes special infected but may not prioritize special infected trapping you.
    Tips for effectively using this buff set
    • Make the most of your M60 for when lots of common infected are around, the more common infected killed the more clip size you gain for the M60.
    • If you want to be helping out your team during tank fights and or finales, avoid fighting the tank while you kill off common infected and special infected to raise your current bounty. The more bounty you have to help the team, the better the chances of survival there are for everyone.
    • If you know that there are a lot of things that can earn you bounty quickly in under 10 seconds, then use a first aid kit, then go do what is there to get you bounty. After the effect wears off you will notice a heavy increase in your overall bounty gained, thanks to the buff effects of the Peanut Blessing Buff.
    • If you want to help out the team with giving them ammo reach out for instead of them walking to places that could be much more dangerous, be sure to spawn an ammo pile in a nearby safe place. Your teammates will thank you for the extra support that they can get.
    • Run away from the tank if you want to avoid being aggro'd by it. The adrenaline run buff can help you to get away quickly from slower tanks.
    • If you want to make the most out of the Helping Drone buff, be sure to let the other players know if a tier 2 or a tier 3 tank is coming and to prepare for it based on its type, whether it would be a physical or a special based.

    • Pipe bombs, when thrown deal +1000% additional (buff) damage against infected.
    • +1% bounty rate increase per special infected kill. Max: 30% Bounty Rate Increase.
    • +1% chance to have damage dealt ignore defense against any target.
    • You have 2000 Maximum HP (+200 HP for every level past level 201). Up to 5800 Maximum HP. If your HP reaches 0, you instantly die. The heal received and dealt from each medikit is reduced by half, maximum: 1/4 healing received and dealt. You also have 50% increased aggro to tanks.
    • When you throw any pipe bomb or vomitjar projectile, you will throw two of them instead of one.
    • You can crouch down and right click to place down a molotov, pipe bomb or vomitjar trap with the current throw able you have in your hand. They explode when any special infected gets within the explosion sensor range of it and does the effect based on the type of throw able placed down. There is a limit of 3 grenade traps that can be placed down at any one time and you can only create 3 of each type of throw able grenade traps for the current round.
    • When you throw pipe bombs as a projectile, they will instantly explode upon coming into contact with any surface.
    • When your vomit jar thrown as a projectile explodes on contact, as well as biling the nearby area on explosion, they also leave a vomit cloud that will bile any nearby special infected in range. It can only affect 3 special infected in versus however.
    • Your pipe bombs when thrown as projectiles will have the power to freeze infected when they explode. Special Infected and tanks can become frozen depending on how close they were to the explosion. Special Infected can get frozen for 10 seconds while tanks can get frozen for 3 seconds. Ice Tanks cannot be frozen.
    • When your pipe bombs thrown as projectiles explode, they instantly heal nearby survivors in range by 15% of their maximum HP.
    Tips for effectively using this buff set
    • When you know that you are able to deal heavy damage to a tank through the use of pipe bomb explosions, don't use the pipe bombs near cars while a tank is around, you don't want to be accidentally killing anyone from immense fall damage due to an extremely high knockback as a result of the car explosion.
    • If you know where the special infected are coming from, place down a grenade trap pipe bomb to kill them with in their path, they will surely die from being blown up which will allow the survivors to have 1 or a few less special infected to be worrying about.
    • If you want to save yourself from being focused down by a chasing tank, quickly place a pipe bomb trap down and lure it into that so it freezes and you have a quick moment to get away from it.
    • If you want to be able to earn bounty more quickly, aim for killing lots of special infected so that you have more bounty to use on throwables if needed.

    • You can no longer get vomit on your screen as well as mud and blood.
    • 25% reduced bounty cost and bounty cost only increases by 1 bounty for each health item bought.
    • When you kill infected, you receive 1 Temporary HP for each common infected kill and 8 Temporary HP for each special infected kill. The healing received cannot go above your maximum HP.
    • You are able to give 1 HP every 3 seconds to nearby survivors while you deal 10% less base damage to the infected.
    • You will regenerate 1% of your missing health every 5 seconds while not poisoned, hanging or incapacitated. The buff effect won't work with Morphine Injector buff.
    • You have 2000 Maximum HP (+200 HP for every level past level 201). Up to 5800 Maximum HP. If your HP reaches 0, you instantly die. The heal received and dealt from each medikit is reduced by half, maximum: 1/4 healing received and dealt. You also have 50% increased aggro to tanks.
    • You can shove away without incurring any penalties.
    • When you throw any pipe bomb or vomitjar projectile, you will throw two of them instead of one.
    • You can crouch down and right click with a first aid kit on you to activate a healing device for 14 seconds. It gives moustachio bless for 5 seconds. It also regenerates 30 HP + 1% of your maximum HP every 0.5 seconds while also curing any obtained bad status effects.
    • When you take pain pills, 40% of the Temporary HP you would receive becomes Permanent HP.
    • When you get attacked by any tank, if you are not on full health you start to regenerate at 3 HP/s until you are at full health again.
    • When your pipe bombs thrown as projectiles explode, they instantly heal nearby survivors in range by 15% of their maximum HP.
    • When you heal yourself or any other survivor using your first aid kit, it will cure bad status effects.
    Tips for effectively using this buff set
    • Be sure to use everything you can in your arsenal to keep yourself and all the other survivors alive in the campaign, especially during hard tank fights.
    • The more regeneration you have on yourself, the faster you will heal and overcome the damage dealt to you by the infected. If you are low on health, be sure to use the time to regenerate HP to yourself.
    • Be careful with the amount of bounty you use on other survivors to save them. Remember to make sure to leave enough to help yourself.
    • If you know someone is about to get killed from being focused down because of a certain status effect, use a first aid kit on them to cure it off, avoid their death and at the same time to heal your HP so that you can survive better.
    Supporter COOP

    • You can crouch down and right click with a first aid kit on you to activate a healing device for 14 seconds. It gives moustachio bless for 5 seconds. It also regenerates 30 HP + 1% of your maximum HP every 0.5 seconds while also curing any obtained bad status effects.
    • When you heal yourself or any other survivor using your first aid kit, it will cure bad status effects.
    • Survivors that are lower level than you, Max Level: 85, will take 3% (1% in versus) less damage from the infected and gain +0.5% more movement speed. The effect stacks with other players who have this buff active.
    • When you die, you give away all of the bounty you have to every survivor that is currently alive. Each survivor alive will get 10% of the total amount of bounty that you have.
    • You are able to spawn and de-spawn a pet charger with 300 HP. he deals 750 HP per hit on any infected and can benefit from the charger revenge buff if its controller gets hit by healing from the damage received. If the pet charger dies within 3 seconds of being spawned, it can be spawned again.
    • You can select any other survivors other than yourself in the !buy menu to favourite, giving +25% defense. While you are near your favourite, you will regenerate 1 HP every 5 seconds.     • Using only heavy sniper rifles (AWP/SCOUT) you can apply a cupid arrow to any special infected and tank once per lifetime. Special Infected and tanks fallen in love with the buff effect are drawn to you and help you out. Special Infected are in love for 2 minutes and can only be killed by you. Tanks are in love for 10 seconds and can be attacked by anyone.
    • You gain the ability to purchase ammo piles to place anywhere on the map for 20 bounty from the !buy menu in the miscellaneous section.
    • You can find out what the next tank is in !buy menu. Buff also acts as an auto-turret dealing 60 true damage to infected every 0.6 seconds. prioritizes special infected but may not prioritize special infected trapping you.
    Tips for effectively using this buff set
    • Be sure to get as much bounty as you can before you die, since the more bounty you have upon before your death the more the survivors will get when you die.
    • Remember to help out your teammates when they are in need of health and are affected by any bad status effects that are dangerous, the quicker you can get them back to the fight, the better your fire power.
    • If you know your going to be dead anyway, use your berserk buff before you die to deal more damage to the tank so the team can kill it faster for afterwards.
    • If someone wants to tank against tanks in the current map, give them the effects of Love is in the air buff. You'll thank yourself for giving them more time to live later.
    • If you want to have 2 pets under your control instead of one. As long as no one else has a pet, shoot any special infected with the AWP while scoped in when the buff effect of Cupid's Arrow can be activated. After the effect has worked successfully on either a boomer, spitter and or charger (you can even do it against the ubered version) then spawn your pet to have two pets under your control. Now that's double the power.
    • Don't be afraid to spawn a pet charger when you don't want to be using any knifes and or have ran out of them. Plus if he dies within 3 seconds of being spawned and having saved you at the same time, he can be spawned again.
    • If you want to make the most out of the Helping Drone buff, be sure to let the other players know if a tier 2 or a tier 3 tank is coming and to prepare for it based on its type, whether it would be a physical or a special based.

    Tips for effectively using this buff set
    • With the Survivor Ninja COOP Buff Set, make sure to melee special infected often when they are in close range, it's the better way to kill the uber special infected usually.
    • Even if you have the frozen protection buff, make sure your HP isn't low when your frozen by the freezing tank's passive ability, you can still be permanently dead when you get killed.
    • If you need to run from a bad situation that could cause you or your team's death, use the immolation buff effect along with an adrenaline shot to be able to outrun most infected in any map.

    Tips for effectively using this buff set
    • If you need to tank aggro from a shaman and or a knight tank when its attacking a survivor that might die soon, do so using any weapon of your choice that can do it quickly. You will then be able to tank the damage for a long time, eventually getting the tank killed before you die.
    • If you want to be an effective team player, give your love is in the air buff effect to any low level player who will need defense and or any high level player who wishes to tank damage in order to help them survive tanking tank punch damage.
    • If you need to heal because your low on HP and don't want to suffer anymore from the tank aggro's let someone else aggro the tank if its currently trying to focus you down and make the best usage of your healing buffs by avoiding infected damage for sometime.
    • If you want to make battles against the Butcher Tank easier, use the health dispenser when you don't have enough bounty for another first aid kit or when your first aid kit is healing for only 25% of your maximum HP.

    Tips for effectively using this buff set well
    • It is important to know when you need to go on the offensive to get the tank to focus down on you and when you will need to go on the defensive to tank the damage the tank throws at you. Knowing when and where for each tank can make tank fights take less time to do.
    • You should activate the berserk buff along with the pet buff while the avenger buff is currently active, but do it before just or immediately when someone gets killed by the tank. Using the AWP and magnum you can really deal an immense amount of damage to the tanks in a very short amount of time.
    • If you want to save someone from being killed by an incoming tank ability or punch attack, aggro the tank away from them onto you so that you can tank its damage dealt to you. You are doing yourself a good favor by saving the survivor from their death.
