    Everything is going great here. Founded a company and making $80k per year without any work whatsoever. Still on the track to medical school. Starting a nonprofit charity right now. Found the love of my life / girlfriend / fiancee (well, not my fiancee yet, but she wants to get married, and we are only 20 so we're trying not to rush).

    How are things with you guys?

    I'm thinking about starting to consider maybe tapering off my Chivalry:Medieval Warfare addiction and coming back to play some L4D2 with my old friends. Maybe.

    Yeah been really busy lately.

    Marv, I want to buy my own server and host it for the company I'm growing (currently on a shared plan). Which datacenter do you use in Chicago? How does it work? Can you recommend a good computer build that can handle a lot of cpu intensive processes like XML parsing and database connections? Thanks :D

    My recomendation:

    I would go straight for OVH, as they offer insane hardware for very low price. (Starting from 82

    Stefeman pretty much said it all. I think you can't live without DDoS protection these days anyway.

    I used to buy my own hardware but it's not required anymore, dedicated is so cheap these days and if a hard drive or something else blows up they replace it for you free of charge, usually within a couple of hours.

    With OVH you even can get IP load balancing for an additional $15. So you can have one IP which will balance over multiple servers, so you can easily grow in the future if you want to.

    I would probably start with a 4-core:

    If you need more CPU power and memory try the 6-core:

    http://www.ovh.com/us/dedicated-servers/enterprise/2014-SP-128.xml

    and so on....

    If you don't like it, stop paying and it gets canceled automatically.

    Heyyy guys! So girlfriend and I broke up lol.. so much for getting married. She was tempted by other guys, so I let her go. I got my dedicated server too! Dual Intel Xeon processors, 32GB RAM, 2TB hard drive + 120 GB SSD, Windows Server 2012, IIS8. It's so perfect that I absolutely love it. It's running on a 500 mb/s port, upgradable to gigabit when I need it. I'm just running a couple websites so it's an OP server right now.

    How are things going with you guys? I haven't heard from Erik or HC either... I wonder if they still hate me.

    Ouch.. sorry to hear about your breakup.. But stuff happens..

    I'm currently having hard time with my school/univ.. and on the free time i have, i'm working on some crude mp3 plugin for l4d2 (which i never get done at this rate haha).

    No idea about HC and Erik.. You gotta ask them =p But i dont think they hate you lol.

    Great to see you back Luke. Yesterday at work my little helper who is also a soldier on Fort Hood told me he was getting a divorce because his wife was having an affair with another woman while her husband was deployed, ouch. He and the other guy are going out for some beers when he gets back this week.
