Allright, our new server (replacing Chicago) is online! Featuring a Core i7 3770, 32 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD disk and a dedicated 100 mbit connection, this server should be almost 30% faster than the previous one!

Chicago is still running because those servers are full right now, but they won't come back after the next crash so please update your bookmarks:

Just as I was about to give up hope I saw this strange new server. I jumped in and played for a bit before the other guy rage quit. This is good news to me. Everything was running smooth too.

I love the low ping but the server lag is worse than ever. The game freezes for a few seconds and things spring back to about a second before it froze. This is on the US COOP server.

Yeah, there is definitely a strange freezing issue every 20 seconds. It lasts about 2-3 seconds. Might be a config issue with the server or something else. Hope it can be checked out and fixed.

Other than that, the server stayed stable for a solid 1hr 30mins while I pushed it to it's limits with a tank event on BH finale. It reached a point where it gave the "ERROR! Reliable snapshot overflow" and we couldn't reconnect. (It has something to do with too many items spawned, someone had spammed M60's and shotguns all over the map, requires a server reset).

Perhaps we can get an entity sweep command or something that wipes guns and other items not spawned by an admin. Maybe a time limit on how many items a non-admin can spawn? I'm sure there is something that can be done to clean the item spam issue up.

There was a ddos attack last night on the new US server, that explains the lag.

It's not dying. I didn't play the game for 6 months until I found the MG community. Now that I'm here, I'm making new maps for this community to play PR 1.3 on so we can keep it fresh.

Roland, this "new" server is a lot better than the old one. It's a replacement for the Chicago servers which were quite poor compared to this one. Now the US/AUS/NZ players will have something decent to join, instead of laggy EU/Asia servers.

Marvel, not sure what all that means, but I hope it's fixable.

For those of you that are getting impatient, PR 1.3 has so much new content (with regards to custom content). Everything from dedicated quest maps (taken care of by CrazyRabbit) to Guild Wars (taken care of by Honor Code) to something called Guild Villages (taken care of by me--you'll see soon) to a host of new stuff on normal servers that I've added. Plus, there are two custom DLCs you can download; one of them will add custom particles and more GUI content and the other will be a combination of all of CrazyRabbit's maps.

If MG was dying, all that new stuff wouldn't be coming. I know many of you have been waiting ages for a new PR to come out, but as I've said before, it'll be released this summer. Patient is a virtue.

In order to ease you into all the new stuff, we will release them bits at a time. First, all the new tanks + the Character Class system + TrueSkill + TrueSkill-related skills will make its way, then Guild Wars by HC, then all the Quest Maps taken care of by CrazyRabbit, followed by the Guild Village survival system.

I'd rather keep them at NL, as it's basically "middle" and provides best pings for wider audience.

AMS-IX in Amsterdam is one of the biggest internet exchange points in Europe and our servers are not even 100m away from that

Can't get much better than that

On an island you always have to go through water as well, although I think there's more than enough capacity to the UK, equal to land lines.
