Defiance (TV Show) *POSSIBLE SPOILERS*

The final episode to defiance aired in the UK yesterday and in america on monday, has anybody been watching this?

I have watched them all and have loved every episode so far, the way that they made it end was interesting but kind of disappointing as 2 of the major people in the show are now dead im not sure how good it will be in the next series.

what are peoples opinions on the show and what did you think to how it ended?

 

I'm sorry, but I find this show very scary... scary how bad the quality of the acting is. I like the idea for the show and think it's visually stunning... but zomg @ the amount of sponsorship (commercials on top of commercials on top of commercials) and the cast who all graduated from The School Of Bad Acting with high honors. The game looks fun... I'm just grumpy cuz they didn't really succeed where they had all the opportunity to to make a great TV show. I think the only other shows that have worse acting are that Charmed show and True Blood.

In England, is the Syfy network as choc-full-of commercials as it is here? Or, is it aired on anohter channel?

im not to sure about the commercials as i have been watching these on my computer so there is none for me. the rest of the stuff you mentioned that doesn't really seem to bother me i really enjoy the plot line behind it each to there own though, not everyone likes everything

And of course i would mention potential spoilers as i know how annoying it can be when you accidentally read something and it spoils something for you.

 

In all honesty, I absolutely LOVE (to the point of saying it twice, LOVE LOVE) when a show with not-so-perfect aspects is good enough to make you see past it. I am a HUUUUUGE David Lynch fan and used to obsessively watch his only venture at televison ever, a cult classic show called Twin Peaks. We all know (fans) that it poked fun at many genres, but in many cases, the show was simply over-acted and could be corny, fringing on hammy. Any self-respecting Lynch fan would harbor such an accusation, no matter how true, but it's unarguable that it could be those things. HOWEVER, it was redeeming enough in so many other areas (especially plot, mythology & character development,) that it was good and strong enough to make people see past the hammy aspects. Defiance is NOT a badly-written show, infact I'd rate it as "good" to "above average" with writing. I was just simply saying the acting is just too mcuh at times.

 

I've tried watching defiance, I just couldn't get into it. I found the storyline rather dull, and much of the show felt empty to me. It reminded me of true blood actually but those who like either of the shows, i'm sorry!

If you think losing main characters in show ruins it, game of thrones says hello!
I highly recommend you get into that show. If you think losing two main characters is big deal...well I can't spoil it. Highly recommend it!

 

I havent seen defiance yet i actually have no idea what its about lol but seeing as its been compared to true blood (even if negatively) i shall give it a watch......true blood, bad acting? really? Id say i have pretty good taste when it comes to films and tv shows and at the minute true blood is up there with my favourites in fact that and breaking bad are the only on going tv shows im actually watching at the minute lol, 3rd most popular tv show, 7.9 on imdb...bad acting? nah, comparable to charmed? lmao'd may as well say losts character development is as about as good as neighbors..

meh looks a bit star trecky to me....might give it a miss actually lol

final season of breaking bad coming up in a couple days....sad that its the last season but cant wait!

breaking bad is good show, I've started watching it recently.
as for walking dead, well...the short version session one, fun to watch...session two nothing happens, nothing happens omg ending (not really)....session 3 action action little drama with bad ending.... its not an amazing show but fun to watch I say.

 

Hearing that almost completely dissuades me from wanting to see it. I've heard this from others as well.

Granted, I'm VERY, VERY, VERY spoiled from sensationalist serial dramas like The Sopranos and LOST because of their unmatched character development, ultraviolent finales and story conclusions, and other things... but I don't think it's too much to expect a lot from a television action / drama series. ESPECIALLY the finales.

But, everyone (even fans of TWD, dedicated fans) are saying this.

Back to Defiance... didn't it get canceled or something? Or, did the season just end?

I was getting heavy, heavy into a show on HBO called Luck, cuz I had Dennis Farina, Dustin Hoffman (wow,) and other character actors I liked in it. It also focused on a frequently episodic situation, gambling/horse racing, as its primary core. Furthermore, it had about 8 or 9 main characters (LOST-like, but not as expansive,) told in vignettes and always fun to watch. It got canceled cuz HBO had to issue multiple statements about a race horse that died while filming.

Nothing new / good on TV worth getting into; if it is, it gets canceled. I'm personally waiting for the next big serial drama (like LOST.)

 

I didn't want to discourage you from watching walking dead based on those comments.
Its usually what I heard from other people and I do agree with them BUT I still watched all the sessions nontheless!
give it chance, you never know.

If you enjoy shows like The Sopranos (which I also liked a lot), you might really like Boardwalk Empire.
Basically the 1920's gangsters during the prohibition. I personally like this show, exciting to watch.

If you're looking for unmatched character develoepment, never ending twist and turns throughout the show and rich storyline overall...you must seriously start watching Game of Thrones.

Typical mg erik behavior: totally want to watch a show (or play a game i bought,) then never do. I watched 1 episode of GoT and was surprised how good it was. Watched 1 or 2 B.Empires and was also surprised! Good call x2

 

Everyone raves about game of thrones....i remember the last season finale my facebook news feed was clogged with status's about how shockingly amazing it was....i still havent watched a single episode lol

I forgot to mention the walking dead when i said true blood and breaking bad were the only on going tv programs i actually watch, the walking dead is getting better last season got pretty exciting, watch weeds too although i found the earlier seasons to be better than the later ones...
