By force i would choose Nvidia, its like the only one that comes here to my country (under the name of Zogis). But IF I could buy an AMD with no customs charges (technology has a big charge here) I'll go for that.

after is question about cooling system of the card and how much noise make

AMD wins the performance crown by a whisker, then, but it's worth noting that it's also more power-hungry, noisier and runs hotter. Our test system idled 6W higher with the AMD card installed, and peak power draw increased by 22W to 362W. After running FurMark for a period of time, the AMD GPU settled at 94?C, and the increased fan speed became noticeable; by comparison, the GTX 780 maintained a steady 82?C operating temperature, and did so with a comparatively low increase in fan noise.

Same but I just think right now AMD is more bang for your buck.

However, Steambox only supports Nvidia for now. In case I wanna run Linux Nivida would be better.

    AMD without a doubt.

NVIDIA-specific errors are always everywhere; why take a risk?

AMD @ 4GB. Rather handsome card in my opinion; get that. BTW What are you doing with whatever you are replacing?

Never had ANY problems with my current AMD card, and they do seem to be winning the "bang for your buck" side of things, but honestly both guys are putting out quality at the moment.

Steambox is bound to support AMD sooner rather than later, and in terms of what you pick it should be general use, not Linux specific (Linux gaming is coming a long way, but Windows is still massively in front). I use Linux for general work/code, Windows for browsing/games/work.

Personally I'm more a fan of Nvidia/Intel Combo and as you said, nvidia is a better choice for linux. Physx is a nice little addition, not a game changer but better that tressfx

The only thing I would say against it is that AMD's Mantle looks like a promising development. That said, the initial results on the BF4 release are rather dissapointing. It's probably a technology that will take at least one or two generations of graphics cards to realize (or fail to realize) its potential. Plus they have stated that Nvidia will be free to support it in the future (whether they ever will or not is a whole 'nother debate). Then again, it all depends on developers actually supporting a technology that at the moment isn't particularly widespread.

There was a time when id choose nvidia all the way but after experiencing various technical errors with my last nvidia card and switching to amd id never go back, amd for cards all tbe way but intel for processors
